ログインCrystal POV
“This line holds the water supply to the pack, but I’ve heard that there’s a pack trying to dig up gold, and in that case, it could contaminate our water supply and leave the pack on the verge of a pandemic.” His father showed the parcel of land on the map, which was the problem of the pack.
Digging up gold would ruin the water pathway, and that’ll be the end.
“Yes, this is the pathway, and it leads to our water reserve, and the problem is that we can’t create another water reserve and drain the water out because it’ll take a lot of time and a lot of work.” His Beta admonished, keeping his eyes on the map and his hands crossed.
“What do you have to say, son?” His father asked Kieran. Kieran looked at it for a while. I wondered why no one was seeing what I was seeing.
“No comments, Father.” Kieran’s words amazed me, making me wonder why he had no words to say, because this is his pack, which means it’s his responsibility to always bring solutions to the pack.
“Host a meeting with the pack, buy that huge land with everything in it. Whatever the worth is you’d pay, secure the mass land and also keep your water channels clean. Case solved.” I dropped my suggestion, leaving everyone shocked.
“And what if the amount is enormous?” His Beta tried to counter my solution, but he failed.
“There’s a reason why installment payments are made, but this man standing right here, coupled with me, is a force of bargain so leave it to us. We’ll handle it and bring results. Let’s go, Kieran.” I held his hand this time and led him out of the room, leaving everyone in utter shock.
My first contribution to the growth and development of this pack, I feel so fulfilled right now.
“You did it again.” He chuckled as he swept me off my feet, holding me in his arms while he walked past the hallway leading to his room.
“I didn’t do anything, just wondered why no one thought of it. You’d be increasing the pack’s territory,y and also that parcel of land can be used to increase the food supply of the pack as well.” I even added another option to it, knowing that farming on the large piece of land would increase the food supply of the pack by thirty percent(30%).
“You’re not only beautiful but smart as well. That’s an added advantage.”
“Ethan…” I mentioned his name, not because I saw him but because of the words he used to say.
“Being beautiful only gives you that edge over others. Don’t ever think you’re smart.” His words rang through my mind before Kieran. ed;
“Did you just say, Ethan?”
“I said my eye is hurting me.”
“Once I drop you on the bed, I’ll take a look at it.” He conceded to my words as I turned the doorknob for him since his hand couldn’t reach it.
“Which of your eyes?”
“I think the pain is gone. We should rest before going down for dinner,” I replied, and pulled the sheets over me, but he pulled them back down and tossed me onto my back.
“You’re right.”
“Can I have a word with you, son?” His father mentioned before knocking on the door. Kieran went out to meet him,m and knowing that they were standing close to the door, I could eavesdrop and know exactly what they were going to talk about.
“This lady is an ass. How did you get your hands on her?” His father inquired,
“Father, this is my private life. She’s not just an asset, she’s the real definition of a woman.” Kieran’s defense left my head spinning with thoughts of excitement.
Do you know how it feels knowing that you have someone who would defend you at every slightest opportunity?
Kieran is that man, but what if he’s doing this because of the contract?
“You’ve never defended Valeria in this manner. Did she do anything to you? You can always tell me if she hurts you and I don’t…”
“Valeria can remain my friend for all I care, but I don’t see a union between us.” Kieran interrupted his father calmly; his voice wasn’t high-pitched, according to my keen observation.
“The pack doesn’t agree with that,t and that’s your problem, not mine.” He was right about it.
Getting married to me was Kieran’s problem and not that of his dad, and I hope Kieran can withstand a whole pack standing against his decision.
“I can always deal with that problem. The pack isn’t a huge problem to me because at the end I’m the Alpha and they’re my subjects.” He bantered, his tone was firm,m and it gave me goosebumps, making me wish that I was there with him, I'm having this conversation.
“A union that’s not blessed and approved by the council can’t work, and you know that?” His father pointed out the obvious latter, which made me wonder what Kieran would say.
“You carved out the council; you choose every member sitting in that room. Your Beta, your Gamma, and the rest of the pack officials. When it’s my time to become Alpha, I can have everybody stripped to have my people in those positions.” Kieran revealed to me that he had his own plan after he got crowned as the Alpha.
“You intend to cause a lot of ruckus in your leadership reign.” His father laughed it off.
A ruckus doesn’t sound right to me. If the pack doesn’t agree to our union, that means they don’t like me, and it’s going to be a lot of trying to convince everyone.
“They love Valeria because your union with her would bring a lot of good things to the pack. Imagine what feat our pack would achieve with you and Valeria together, we’ll be the strongest in the whole…”
“Father, I’m good without him,r and I’ll be good even until my last days, anyway, so there’s nothing you should be worried a. There’sre’s little time before dinner, and I need to rest so we can talk about this later.” I knew this was the end of the conversation, so I crawled back into bed and acted like I was sleeping.
“Hey, darling, are you asleep?” He inquired, running his hand through my hair before kissing my cheeks. He got into bed and wrapped me in his arms.
“How’s your meeting with dad?”
“You look innocent while you sleep.” He mentioned and then rubbed his hands around my breasts.
Not again, Kieran. I am exhausted from the occasion and now this.
How do I handle this?Crystal POVI downed the entire contents of the first cup and filled my second cup, repeating the same act not because I wanted to get drunk. I hated that she used us for the promotion of her book without giving us any payment. The sales of her book are going to go way up, but I hope it’s worth the hype. I checked out the new stocks before he even told me about that; if only he knew how attracted I am to new stocks.“What’s wrong?”“It’s been a while, and you know how much it takes to be what you are right now, but giving her that promotion on a free platter seems too kind.”“You know I can’t let you have a third cup; we’ve still got a long day ahead of us…” He stopped immediately when someone knocked on the door.“Mr. Kieran.”“Who are you and what do you want?” I asked, belching afterward, before turning my eyes to her; he signaled me to go sit down behind my table. He figured out that the wine’s effects had started showing.“Well, we heard of the benefits you’re giving us, the owne
Kieran POVWe couldn’t finish all of it, so we left it for the guards to take it back home for their use. crystal wore a suspicious look on her face, still thinking about what happened inside the cafe.“You think so much about the past. Don’t hold that in your mind because it has no value; you’d be carrying a burden that’s not meant for you.” I advised her before ushering her into the back of the truck.“I felt so nervous watching you speak to another lady, and I hate that feeling.” She confessed before turning her eyes back to her phone.I thought about Lyra’s friend and the review she asked me to make to support her book and make it a good read for everyone. She wants the media to promote her work, and I have no choice because I’d have to keep my word.We arrived at the office, and she was standing there, looking frustrated.“I thought we had a deal.”“Come with us, Olivia. There’s no reason to cause a fuss because it’s not worth it; you want a review? Then follow us.” Lyra spoke to
Crystal POV I never expected Kieran to act like that. He pushed the man away like he was trying to take something very valuable from him. He was only having a conversation, and the moment he tried to touch me, I saw the man on the ground and Kieran dragging me to the car. He agreed to stop at the cafe because he was famished, as I was. Treating ourselves to a breakfast treat isn’t a bad idea. “Why are you both staying back beside the SUV?” I asked as they got out, but didn’t want to walk with us. “Come with us, get a table, and order what you want. He’s going to pay.” I chuckled, acting like I never knew he was still pissed. While getting seated, his phone was beeping with calls, and I wondered why. I checked the schedules and realized we had no meetings today, so why would the receptionist be calling?“What’s wrong?”“Ma, there’s a woman here by the name Olivia, she’s saying that our boss has to send a review of her book to the press, and he hasn’t done that. She’s pissed, but I
Kieran POv When we arrived at the courthouse, I was relieved that there were no reporters at the entrance of the courthouse. I noticed that Lyra’s countenance changed the moment she got out of the SUV. She quickly wrapped the scarf around her head and her face, leaving only her eyes visible to the public. No one would joke that she’s the one. I figured she did that because of the reporters. “Go in there and let Judge Johnson know that we’re here to see him. Enso Blackwood is the name you’d give to him.”“Other people are waiting to see him.”“Do I look like other people? Do what you’re told, or my guards will help you do your job.” He agreed to my request because he knows that if my guard stormed into the courtroom, it would cause a little chaos, and he might lose his job in respect to that. “Wait here.” He walked into the courtroom slowly while I kept my eyes around and turned to the reception hallway, where the guard mentioned people were waiting to see Judge Johnson. Ethan wa
Kieran POVI had to adjust myself before heading down to the dining table. My father, his beta, and Lyra were already seated without me.“Apple stew?” I was shocked that someone actually made this. No one makes better apple stew than my late mother. I ate in silence as we all did; my father didn’t say a word, and I knew why he was doing this. He didn’t want us to talk about Valeria in front of his Beta and Lyra. Why would I talk about a woman I don’t love? After the meal, Lyra went to bed and didn’t say a word to me. She dozed off in my arms, and I woke up in the morning to discover that she wasn’t in bed with me. “Lyra,” I called her name, but heard no response. I got up from bed, stretched out my arms, and got into the washroom,m but she wasn’t there. I wondered if she had left the house. I was surprised to see her running back into the house through the front gate. She went for an early morning run to wherever, and she got me worried at some point.Lyra has never woken up to
Ethan’s POV I drove to one of the city's largest law firms to see my lawyer. He’s an old friend of mine, and keeping him by my side through this divorce is the best way to keep that ugly urchin in check. “Barrister Smith. How’re you doing?”“What are you doing here?”“I’m here because of the divorce,e and you know we have to make it a lot harder for her to make her work for me,” I explained to him, watching his hand grasp for the bottle of whiskey. I stopped to observe him for a while, then noticed he was drunk and had a picture on his phone. “What’s wrong, Barrister?” I inquired as he was about to grab his pho,ne but I stopped him and wondered why he’d be drinking whiskey at this time of the day.“Come on, what’s going on here?”“I’ve been a divorce attorney for more than a decade, enjoying a happy married life,e and now I’m going through my own divorce.” I was shocked when he turned his phone screen so I could see a video of his wife and another man on a boat cruise. “You’re ab
