Chapter 19

Kieran POV 

Standing against the pack because I want to be close to her isn’t a crime to me, and I wouldn’t mind doing it over and over again because she’s someone I’d always want to be with. She makes me happy; she’s more like my best friend. I can’t contain the emotions I feel towards her. 

She makes my world a better place and reckons how she just made everything easier when she dropped the solution to the problem that my father had. 

Running my hands around her nipple while in my thoughts hurt her as she turned towards the other side, trying to save herself from my touch. 

“You don’t need to worry, cute lady, I’m not going to hurt you. I just want you to understand that there’s a lot at stake right now.” I stopped halfway, reminding myself that letting her know what my father and I discussed might make her leave since there’s a chance that every member of my pack would hate her. 

“I see you’re worried. Why’s that?” She asked after studying me for a certain period of time. I got up and went to the sofa, leaving her on the bed. 

“Yes, I’m worried. I have a lot of problems to deal with.”

“Can I help?”

“You’ve helped enough. I think I can handle this on my own. There’s nothing much you can do right now than support the motion that makes me the only man in your life throughout the period of this contract.”

“I won’t be with another man knowing that you’d pay me half a million dollars at the end of the year. Why do you think so low of me?” She raised her upper body and tried to relax on the head of the bed. 

“I don’t want you with another man, I just want you all to myself.”

“Do you see me belonging to another? I’m in your bed, aren’t I?” She laughed, making it sound like I was joking. 

I know how Alaric is; he’s going to try his advances at her, and telling her that would only make her want to know what he has to offer. 

“You’re in my bed doesn’t guarantee you won’t be in another man’s bed tomorrow. I basically can’t keep an eye on you throughout the day; you wouldn’t like it.”

“You want to make that a rule, I don’t mind. If you can assign someone to walk around with me and report everything to you, as long as I’m protected, I don’t have an issue with it.” She agreed to appoint a guard to walk with her and always keep an eye on her.

I felt pleased with what she said, and it made me so happy knowing that she would be loyal to me. Valeria never wanted a guard to always walk around with her because she felt I was stalking her. 

Her father wants us to get married because he feels his daughter can’t handle his wealth, and having an Alpha male like me is a blessing to their pack, but I don’t even care about her, not to mention having feelings for her. 

“What are you thinking about?”

“Valeria’s father wants us to be married.” 

“Yeah, you told me about that. You’re going to disagree with it, right?” She was keen on knowing what my response would be. 

“Yes, but everyone wants that union because of the advantages to both parties.”I had to tell her of the plight I'm drowning in. 

“You can always get back to her once we’re done with the contract.”

“Stop! Listen.” I barked, trying to contain my anger as she got up from the bed to get closer to me. She sat beside me, 

“What’s wrong with you, Alpha Kieran? You’re like the one everybody respects,s so why won’t they respect this decision of yours?”

“Everyone respects me and chose Valeria as the right woman because her father is quite popular.”

“Marriage is for a lifetime; you want that decision to be made based on what your people desire.” She chuckled, running her right hand through my left thighs. 

“I need you to stay put and don’t worry about those. You should eat and sleep on it, by morning we’d return to our normal lives, and this would be in your past.” Her voice calmed my nerves, but deep down,n I was worried about how she was going to handle the tantrums that my people would throw at her since they don’t want our union. 

“You love working at the office?”

“The office is a different environment, not beside you kissing her or she kissing you, well, ell that’s none of my business. The main reason why I’m saying this is because I want you to know that she won’t be able to come to the office because I’m right there with you and won’t let her.” She acted like a protector, trying to rest her head on my chest. 

I allowed her to do whatever she wanted to me. She trailed her fingers on my chest. 

“You’re my husband for a year, sometimes I ask myself if this is a dream, but it’s not. The money at the end of the year would shape me into a lot of things.” She expressed herself, letting me know how happy she was thinking about the wealth she’d amass by the time the period of the contract is over. 

I wouldn’t mind increasing the amount to make her happy and also wealthy enough to do whatever she wants. I just want to be crowned as the Alpha after my father, if she helps me accomplish this,s then its blossom for me. 

“Like what?”

“A good lady in business, I’d be having a lot of good investments in stock. You know how good I am.” She chucked, boasting of her knowledge in the stock market. 

“If you play your cards well, there might be an increase in the payment.” I let out sharply, surprised as she kissed my cheeks and then looked at me. 

“What do you want, not darling?” We’re about to share a kiss when he hears a knock on the door. It was soft and not hard as a man,n so I wondered if it was Valeria or one of the maids. 

“Dinner is ready.” The maid announced and turned Lealea.e, I closed the door and turned to Lyra.

“Let’s go, they put an end to it. It’s not my fault.” She chuckled as she kissed my right cheek before leaving my bedroom. 

Everyone is waiting for me downstairs. How do I walk down the stairs with a hard-on?
