FAZER LOGINCrystal POV
If I understand this man correctly, Lyra was offered a million dollars for a deal, and she left with half of the payment already. I need the job, and the money would be a huge advantage in getting a good lawyer and avoiding having to stay over at Olivia’s place.
“Five hundred thousand dollars.” These words escaped my lips as I clutched my bag so tight it could snap in two.
“You didn’t hear me stutter when I said those words. You should have mentioned to me that you wanted a job, and I’d have given one to you without hesitation.” He let out a calm breath, brushing his right index finger over my cheeks.
He’s doing things to me that I can’t explain, it feels so stuffy, yet there are four air conditioners in his office.
“You look so surprised,d like you’ve not been here before. You’re getting me scared, Lyra, or is this some part of your scheme?”
“Why would I scheme against you?” I watched him fold his arms, leaning his back against his seat.
Despite the space between us, I felt a kind of warmth I’ve not felt before. It felt like the space between us was narrowing as the seconds passed.
What are you doing to me?
“Okay, Sir, you can go through my documents and choose a position for me in your company?” I lost my composure, trying to keep my tone professional, but I was failing miserably.
“Olivia brought you her,e isn’t that right?” He asked, ed surfing through my documents like it didn’t matter to him.
“She told me about the job opening, and I decided to appl., I never knew it was you who had the final say.” I swallowed the lump in my throat and continued playing with my fingers underneath the table.
“How would you like to be my personal assistant? Since you’re my soon-to-be wife, I figured it’s the best position so you can stand in for me if I’m not here. I can’t be in two places at one time.” He ran his right hand through his hair, wearing a wide smile on his face.“How many companies do you have, sir?” I inquired, admitting to loosening up in his office.
I don’t want to think about the wetness between my thighs. I could tell he was thinking about hence his tongue licking his lips.
“Tell me what you think about this investment?” He uttered before turning his laptop screen towards me.
“This is a short-term investment, and there’s a tendency that you’d lose your money in this. It’s not even showing any signs of future developments,” I said after studying the charts in less than five minutes.
“How would you know that? You barely even know a thing in this office,e the last time you were here.” He mocked me, laughing hysterically as he turned my attention to the projector by my right-hand side.
“I was about to invest a quarter of a million dollars into this, and you’re telling me it’s not worth it. I can argue with you on this, trust me. These guys are good, a nd they’d never try to double-cross me.” He acted like he knew more than he was saying, but to me, it was a wrong move, and I could spot the mistakes right from where I was sitting.
“The charts are not even accurate, and it seemed more like a hole that’s going to swallow all that you’re about to put in. Look at the trademark; this is what we call a one-time foul mistake. Investing would be a grave mistake, and at the end you’d realize how true my words were.” I was getting bolder since his hands were not under my thighs, and he wasn’t breathing close to me.
Speaking about stocks and investments is getting my mind off the thoughts of his physical features, his chiseled arms, and that smile on his face that could sweep any lady off her feet. He’s practically irresistible.
“Okay,y if you’re so sure about this, I’m going to reduce the investment and invest ten percent of the initial amount agreed, ed and if it’s good, then you owe me one, but if you’re right, then I’d use the leftover money to make you happy.” The condition sounded too good to be true,e but the look on his face showed how serious he was.
“You’d spend two hundred and seventy thousand dollars on me if I’m right with my opinion. I don’t think you can do that.” I disagreed with whatever he said because I know better.
Once I get my reward on the agreed date, I’ll leave this pack and start a new life as Crystal and not Lyra because I’m not Lyra.
“What are you thinking about? Are you doubting my words?” He chuckled as he approached me. He was standing close to me this time.
What is this man hell-bent on achieving? What’s wrong with me? I can’t even push him away; my body’s begging for him to be closer so I can feel his breath against my skin.
“Why are you shaking? I haven’t even touched you yet.” He whispers into my ear as he places his hands on mine, pressing me in that position.
“I hope whoever Lyra is doesn’t come back until I have collected the money and eloped without a single trace. I cut off communications from him for two days, and he couldn’t find me,e so I can do it again.” I muttered to myself as he tried so hard to read my lips, but he couldn’t.
“You aren’t saying a word. Have you suddenly lost your tongue, too? You’re acting weird,d Lyra. Let me lighten up your mood.” He chuckled as he adjusted his belt, letting me have a close-up view of his length underneath his trousers.
“Would you dance with me, Suzan?”
“How did we go from talking about stocks and investments to sharing a bottle of wine and a dance inside his office?” I asked myself a question I had no answer to.
“Do you need anything? Just let me know, and it’s yours.”
I’m his soon-to-be wife and Luna of the Silvercrest pack. I hope I’m ready for this role.
Crystal POVI downed the entire contents of the first cup and filled my second cup, repeating the same act not because I wanted to get drunk. I hated that she used us for the promotion of her book without giving us any payment. The sales of her book are going to go way up, but I hope it’s worth the hype. I checked out the new stocks before he even told me about that; if only he knew how attracted I am to new stocks.“What’s wrong?”“It’s been a while, and you know how much it takes to be what you are right now, but giving her that promotion on a free platter seems too kind.”“You know I can’t let you have a third cup; we’ve still got a long day ahead of us…” He stopped immediately when someone knocked on the door.“Mr. Kieran.”“Who are you and what do you want?” I asked, belching afterward, before turning my eyes to her; he signaled me to go sit down behind my table. He figured out that the wine’s effects had started showing.“Well, we heard of the benefits you’re giving us, the owne
Kieran POVWe couldn’t finish all of it, so we left it for the guards to take it back home for their use. crystal wore a suspicious look on her face, still thinking about what happened inside the cafe.“You think so much about the past. Don’t hold that in your mind because it has no value; you’d be carrying a burden that’s not meant for you.” I advised her before ushering her into the back of the truck.“I felt so nervous watching you speak to another lady, and I hate that feeling.” She confessed before turning her eyes back to her phone.I thought about Lyra’s friend and the review she asked me to make to support her book and make it a good read for everyone. She wants the media to promote her work, and I have no choice because I’d have to keep my word.We arrived at the office, and she was standing there, looking frustrated.“I thought we had a deal.”“Come with us, Olivia. There’s no reason to cause a fuss because it’s not worth it; you want a review? Then follow us.” Lyra spoke to
Crystal POV I never expected Kieran to act like that. He pushed the man away like he was trying to take something very valuable from him. He was only having a conversation, and the moment he tried to touch me, I saw the man on the ground and Kieran dragging me to the car. He agreed to stop at the cafe because he was famished, as I was. Treating ourselves to a breakfast treat isn’t a bad idea. “Why are you both staying back beside the SUV?” I asked as they got out, but didn’t want to walk with us. “Come with us, get a table, and order what you want. He’s going to pay.” I chuckled, acting like I never knew he was still pissed. While getting seated, his phone was beeping with calls, and I wondered why. I checked the schedules and realized we had no meetings today, so why would the receptionist be calling?“What’s wrong?”“Ma, there’s a woman here by the name Olivia, she’s saying that our boss has to send a review of her book to the press, and he hasn’t done that. She’s pissed, but I
Kieran POv When we arrived at the courthouse, I was relieved that there were no reporters at the entrance of the courthouse. I noticed that Lyra’s countenance changed the moment she got out of the SUV. She quickly wrapped the scarf around her head and her face, leaving only her eyes visible to the public. No one would joke that she’s the one. I figured she did that because of the reporters. “Go in there and let Judge Johnson know that we’re here to see him. Enso Blackwood is the name you’d give to him.”“Other people are waiting to see him.”“Do I look like other people? Do what you’re told, or my guards will help you do your job.” He agreed to my request because he knows that if my guard stormed into the courtroom, it would cause a little chaos, and he might lose his job in respect to that. “Wait here.” He walked into the courtroom slowly while I kept my eyes around and turned to the reception hallway, where the guard mentioned people were waiting to see Judge Johnson. Ethan wa
Kieran POVI had to adjust myself before heading down to the dining table. My father, his beta, and Lyra were already seated without me.“Apple stew?” I was shocked that someone actually made this. No one makes better apple stew than my late mother. I ate in silence as we all did; my father didn’t say a word, and I knew why he was doing this. He didn’t want us to talk about Valeria in front of his Beta and Lyra. Why would I talk about a woman I don’t love? After the meal, Lyra went to bed and didn’t say a word to me. She dozed off in my arms, and I woke up in the morning to discover that she wasn’t in bed with me. “Lyra,” I called her name, but heard no response. I got up from bed, stretched out my arms, and got into the washroom,m but she wasn’t there. I wondered if she had left the house. I was surprised to see her running back into the house through the front gate. She went for an early morning run to wherever, and she got me worried at some point.Lyra has never woken up to
Ethan’s POV I drove to one of the city's largest law firms to see my lawyer. He’s an old friend of mine, and keeping him by my side through this divorce is the best way to keep that ugly urchin in check. “Barrister Smith. How’re you doing?”“What are you doing here?”“I’m here because of the divorce,e and you know we have to make it a lot harder for her to make her work for me,” I explained to him, watching his hand grasp for the bottle of whiskey. I stopped to observe him for a while, then noticed he was drunk and had a picture on his phone. “What’s wrong, Barrister?” I inquired as he was about to grab his pho,ne but I stopped him and wondered why he’d be drinking whiskey at this time of the day.“Come on, what’s going on here?”“I’ve been a divorce attorney for more than a decade, enjoying a happy married life,e and now I’m going through my own divorce.” I was shocked when he turned his phone screen so I could see a video of his wife and another man on a boat cruise. “You’re ab
