ログインKieran POV
“Lyra, I must say you’re quite the character. You even denied your name, which makes me wonder how you created that act in your head. You ghosted me for 2 days, and there’s no explanation for it. But if you had asked me for a job, I’d have given you.” I explained it to her, hoping she would understand without hesitation, but she still found it hard.
“I want to merit the position that you’d give me. I never knew you were the new boss.” She stutters, making me wonder where the confidence I saw earlier eloped to.
“Now you know, you work for me. How productive are you? And you know, working for me means you won’t disappear for two days as you did. You’ll be monitored and protected because you’re my asset.” I chuckled at the end of my sentence, examining her response.
“Enough of work discussion. You asked me for a dance.” She ended the conversation before getting up to her feet.
She wasn’t a bad dancer, but she wasn’t used to this type of music, and I could tell by the way she tried to copy mine. Were distracted by the knock on the door.I was about to raise my voice, but Lyra dragged my collar down, letting me know that she wanted me to remain calm.
“What do you want?”
“Just a reminder, sir. We have an important meeting in the next five minutes, and they’re already getting settled in the conference room.”
“Would you like to join the meeting?” I inquired as I held her hand, nd but she stopped and dropped the glass cup in her hand.
“I don’t even know what position you’re giving me, but that’s the least of my worries right now.w, I don’t even know what you’re about to discuss with them.”
“Discuss?” I had to show her the wristwatch on my hand. I’m not meant to discuss with anyone; everyone is always meeting with me to convince me to make a decision.
I’m every man’s role model, not to mention how many influential people have gone on their knees to persuade me into making a decision.
“No one discusses with me. They’re here to convince me.” I mentioned, holding the glass in my hand.
I strolled out and was about closing the door, but it stopped, it felt stuck, then looking at her shoes,s I realized that she wanted to join me in the meeting.
Sitting back in the office would not only be boring but very awkward, and I can tell she loves talking about business, which is still a shocking revelation to me.
I sat down in my position and asked the secretary to move down a bit so Lyra could sit beside me.
“I know you haven’t heard about our company, but as you can see,e we’ve made over eighty percent…”
“I don’t mean to interrupt, but if you say you’ve made eighty percent. Why do you want a quarter of a million? Your statement here is that you’re defending a multi-million dollar company, which means you should be targeting larger investments. “ I was stunned, watching with keen interest.
“We’ve had larger investors, our last input…”
“Yeah, speaking of input, I need you to understand that if we’re going to invest in your company,y it’s going to be a total shit show. Your numbers aren’t even adding up, and I can see more than sixteen errors just by reading this trash you call a file.” She salvaged them right there and left everyone speechless.
Is this Lyra? Lyra hasn’t attended one of my meetings because she knows nothing about stocks and investments,s so how is it so sudden that she mastered it like it was an art to her?
“What aren’t you telling me, Lyra?” I muttered to myself as she pushed her seat backwards.
“Your company is good on the outside, but the inside is a deep hole,e and that’s because your partners are eating off the cake,ke and I’m sure you don’t even know about it. Your numbers show how much your company is worth, but the output isn’t aligning with your input,t which means,” She strolled around to the man’s seat and showed him the numbers in the file.
“Is this fraud?”
“It might be fraud, or it might be a deliberate decision made by your partners and the board. They will drain you to your last penny, and you’d have no choice but to sell your building.” She replied as if she were the queen of the game.
Not only did she save me from making a wrong decision, but she even helped my enemies.
What if Lyra weren’t here and they managed to convince me to start the investments? It would have been a disaster in the end.
“Why do you look tense, sir? Do you have an idea of what has been happening to his company?” Lyra asks,d staring at the man sitting opposite the man she helped.
“If you don’t say it right now. I’ll go after your family and everyone that knows you and make your life miserable!” I snapped, scaring off the young adult who loosened up his tie just to breathe properly.
“Yeah, she’s right, every month about sixty thousand dollars is being shared amongst your partners and the board. She’s not of this world, I’d say,y because we made sure it was hard for anyone to notice,ce but she did in minutes. Do you know how many weeks it took the whole team to draft out this document?” He ended his confession with a question.
“You’re going to take me back to the office so I can fix this once and for all. Thank you for your observation.ns, I don’t know your name.”
“Her name is Lyra Sinclair, and she’s my fiancée.” I winked at her before stretching forth my hand for a handshake, before the man left.
“With her by your side, you’d navigate through any type of market. She’s a genius, keep her close.” I respected the old man’s words and wished he knew about those hoodlums before now.
“Give him one hundred thousand dollars. That’ll be enough to help his company avoid going bankrupt.
“How do I find him?” The secretary asked as she touched her tablet repeatedly, caring less about the schedule she was looking at.
“That’s your job and not mine,” I replied before watching her leave. Lyra dragged my attention to her soothing voice.
“So what’s my job, boss?”
I hope she has what it takes to play all roles in the span of a year and, at the end, make me the Alpha and the rightful owner of everything I built.
Crystal POVI downed the entire contents of the first cup and filled my second cup, repeating the same act not because I wanted to get drunk. I hated that she used us for the promotion of her book without giving us any payment. The sales of her book are going to go way up, but I hope it’s worth the hype. I checked out the new stocks before he even told me about that; if only he knew how attracted I am to new stocks.“What’s wrong?”“It’s been a while, and you know how much it takes to be what you are right now, but giving her that promotion on a free platter seems too kind.”“You know I can’t let you have a third cup; we’ve still got a long day ahead of us…” He stopped immediately when someone knocked on the door.“Mr. Kieran.”“Who are you and what do you want?” I asked, belching afterward, before turning my eyes to her; he signaled me to go sit down behind my table. He figured out that the wine’s effects had started showing.“Well, we heard of the benefits you’re giving us, the owne
Kieran POVWe couldn’t finish all of it, so we left it for the guards to take it back home for their use. crystal wore a suspicious look on her face, still thinking about what happened inside the cafe.“You think so much about the past. Don’t hold that in your mind because it has no value; you’d be carrying a burden that’s not meant for you.” I advised her before ushering her into the back of the truck.“I felt so nervous watching you speak to another lady, and I hate that feeling.” She confessed before turning her eyes back to her phone.I thought about Lyra’s friend and the review she asked me to make to support her book and make it a good read for everyone. She wants the media to promote her work, and I have no choice because I’d have to keep my word.We arrived at the office, and she was standing there, looking frustrated.“I thought we had a deal.”“Come with us, Olivia. There’s no reason to cause a fuss because it’s not worth it; you want a review? Then follow us.” Lyra spoke to
Crystal POV I never expected Kieran to act like that. He pushed the man away like he was trying to take something very valuable from him. He was only having a conversation, and the moment he tried to touch me, I saw the man on the ground and Kieran dragging me to the car. He agreed to stop at the cafe because he was famished, as I was. Treating ourselves to a breakfast treat isn’t a bad idea. “Why are you both staying back beside the SUV?” I asked as they got out, but didn’t want to walk with us. “Come with us, get a table, and order what you want. He’s going to pay.” I chuckled, acting like I never knew he was still pissed. While getting seated, his phone was beeping with calls, and I wondered why. I checked the schedules and realized we had no meetings today, so why would the receptionist be calling?“What’s wrong?”“Ma, there’s a woman here by the name Olivia, she’s saying that our boss has to send a review of her book to the press, and he hasn’t done that. She’s pissed, but I
Kieran POv When we arrived at the courthouse, I was relieved that there were no reporters at the entrance of the courthouse. I noticed that Lyra’s countenance changed the moment she got out of the SUV. She quickly wrapped the scarf around her head and her face, leaving only her eyes visible to the public. No one would joke that she’s the one. I figured she did that because of the reporters. “Go in there and let Judge Johnson know that we’re here to see him. Enso Blackwood is the name you’d give to him.”“Other people are waiting to see him.”“Do I look like other people? Do what you’re told, or my guards will help you do your job.” He agreed to my request because he knows that if my guard stormed into the courtroom, it would cause a little chaos, and he might lose his job in respect to that. “Wait here.” He walked into the courtroom slowly while I kept my eyes around and turned to the reception hallway, where the guard mentioned people were waiting to see Judge Johnson. Ethan wa
Kieran POVI had to adjust myself before heading down to the dining table. My father, his beta, and Lyra were already seated without me.“Apple stew?” I was shocked that someone actually made this. No one makes better apple stew than my late mother. I ate in silence as we all did; my father didn’t say a word, and I knew why he was doing this. He didn’t want us to talk about Valeria in front of his Beta and Lyra. Why would I talk about a woman I don’t love? After the meal, Lyra went to bed and didn’t say a word to me. She dozed off in my arms, and I woke up in the morning to discover that she wasn’t in bed with me. “Lyra,” I called her name, but heard no response. I got up from bed, stretched out my arms, and got into the washroom,m but she wasn’t there. I wondered if she had left the house. I was surprised to see her running back into the house through the front gate. She went for an early morning run to wherever, and she got me worried at some point.Lyra has never woken up to
Ethan’s POV I drove to one of the city's largest law firms to see my lawyer. He’s an old friend of mine, and keeping him by my side through this divorce is the best way to keep that ugly urchin in check. “Barrister Smith. How’re you doing?”“What are you doing here?”“I’m here because of the divorce,e and you know we have to make it a lot harder for her to make her work for me,” I explained to him, watching his hand grasp for the bottle of whiskey. I stopped to observe him for a while, then noticed he was drunk and had a picture on his phone. “What’s wrong, Barrister?” I inquired as he was about to grab his pho,ne but I stopped him and wondered why he’d be drinking whiskey at this time of the day.“Come on, what’s going on here?”“I’ve been a divorce attorney for more than a decade, enjoying a happy married life,e and now I’m going through my own divorce.” I was shocked when he turned his phone screen so I could see a video of his wife and another man on a boat cruise. “You’re ab
