FAZER LOGINChapter 7
Kiara’s POV
I was surprised when Eva leaned forward to press a kiss to my cheek. She did the same for Reese, and I saw his eyes fill with tears. He needs to stay calm, and I mindlinked him that. Because what I was about to tell him was going to hurt and infuriate him. We nodded at Roderick, and he knew what to do. If anyone besides us came to enter her room, they would be swiftly dealt with deadly accuracy.
We headed straight to Reese’s office to discuss what I'd seen. It was soundproofed, and as soon as the door shut, I checked it for bugs. I did that anytime we came in here to speak. I knew exactly who was behind Eva’s abduction, and I wasn’t going to let them get another shot at her. The room was clear and I nodded at Reese. He knew we could speak freely now.
“How bad was it?” he immediately asked.
“Much worse than anticipated. They hurt her, Reese. She was nothing in that pack, and she was picked on and bullied every single day. But she suffered several times with broken bones. She didn’t have her wolf to heal her, and the pain she suffered was immense while she healed. I want to go back to the Stone Fall pack and burn it to the ground,” I managed to say before a sob ripped out of me.
“Baby, I swear that we’re going to deal with everyone who had a hand in hurting our little girl. Believe me, we will settle the score for her. We need to start training her tomorrow before anything else can happen. We need to deal with my brother Earl and his wife, Freya. Now that we’ve found Eva, they'll want to act again, and we just can’t let that happen. We need to find a way to force them to tell the truth. Earl has always managed to ignore my Alpha commands. He’s been really pushing for their son, Shane, to be named as heir to the pack for the last few months. He will be eighteen in less than six months. You know they want him to take over, but he isn’t Alpha material. He’s way too aggressive, just like my brother, and is not able to make rational decisions. Eva couldn’t have returned at a better time. We will spend the next few months training Eva to take over the pack. If she gets another mate, and I believe she will, he can help her run the pack,” Reese advised.
Reese has always wanted our daughter to take over the pack. All these years, he always hoped she would one day return. I had wanted that more than anything, too. But Earl and Freya were vicious creatures. I had honestly been scared that they had killed her. Instead, they sent her thousands of miles away, just to keep her away from us.
I'm going to let them know just how much that hurts, but doing the same thing to them. I just haven't told Reese that yet. Freya always acted sympathetically towards me, like she really did feel bad for me. But I knew it was all a lie. I think it's only fair that she gets a taste of what it feels like not to know where her child is or whether they are safe.
My cloaking spell had worked a little too well because I hadn’t been able to locate her, either. I wasn’t going to give them another opportunity to come after her, ever again. I couldn’t lose her twice; it might kill me. We need to move forward and deal with any threat to her.
I told Reese about what I had seen in Eva’s memories. The time might have gone by quickly for her, but I have all her memories locked away inside my mind now. I just wish I had been able to see Earl or Freya there when Eva was taken. Then I would have the proof that I needed to end them, and I believe me, I would. But only after we made them suffer.
Death would be too kind for them after what I just saw. They needed to experience the same heartbreak and anguish that Eva had suffered. They need to feel the pain she felt when her bones were broken. Seeing them present when she was taken was what I had wanted. Not the nightmare of seeing exactly what my child had gone through when she had no one to protect her. But even if I hadn’t seen what I wanted in her memories. I knew in my heart that they were the ones responsible for taking her; who else would have dared to do it? Soon enough, I would be dealing with both of them.
Shane had been a year old when Eva was taken, so he will be spared, for now. But I believe he now knows what his parents did to try to ensure that he would be the next Alpha of the Spirit Walkers pack. I was unable to get pregnant again after having Eva. I had a difficult pregnancy and had to be on bed rest for the majority of it. Then, Reese almost lost us both when I was giving birth.
He hadn’t wanted to take the risk of that happening again. But I wanted to have another baby. Not to replace Eva, but because I loved being a Mom. I also wanted to give Reese a son, but I had always dreamed of having a boy and a girl one day. Reese doted on Eva and was thrilled to have a daughter. He wasn’t like some Alphas who only believed that a man could take over a pack. Reese had faith that Eva would grow up and be a powerful Alpha one day.
Earl was still furious that he had not been made Alpha here at the Spirit Walker pack. He was the elder brother and had already found his mate. By all accounts, he should have been the one to take the title, but he was passed over. His aggressive manner was the very reason it happened. Earl had no empathy. He didn't care at all for anyone else but Freya and their son, Shane.
Shane was just like his father. He didn't care about anyone except himself and his parents. It was only after the Alpha title had been “Ripped away from him,” his words, not mine. He became more aggressive and a little unhinged. It was apparent that he wasn’t going to take any chances with who was named the next heir. I knew exactly why she had been taken. Earl didn’t have to admit that he was behind it; I already knew that it was true.
“Every broken bone that Eva suffered will return to anyone who hurt her, my love,” Reese assured me.
I believed him, because I heard his tone. He was absolutely serious, and he was definitely going to make every guilty party pay for what they had done to Eva.
“I have one more thing to tell you, Love. But you have to try to stay calm,” I told him.
He tensed at my words. What I’d already told him had painted a horrific picture of what Eva had experienced. She had truly suffered at their hands, and he knew that if I was telling him to brace for what I was about to tell him, what I was about to say now must be something awful.
“What is it?” he growled out.
”Eva’s mate, Donovan, fully intended to rape her right there in front of everyone before he killed her. Then he would allow the men with him to do the same. He only changed his mind when a sudden storm started to knock down several of the trees near them,” I answered.
Reese’s roar of anger and frustration filled the room. He wrapped his arms around me and held me close. He wept in my arms. The pain he felt was wrapped around the guilt of not being able to protect our baby. I felt the same way, except I was going to make sure that Donovan remembered the biggest mistake of his life for the rest of his life. No matter how short that timeframe's about to be. I would be sure to tell him exactly why he's about to suffer before I do it. It's the least I could do for him.
“Eva had to endure too much over the years. That’s why the Goddess stepped in to help her. Donovan is going to die by my hands, his men along with him. I will not stop until the Stone Fall pack ceases to exist. I think it’s time for us to do a drop-in and have a little talk with Alpha Dominic today. I think we need to find out who was involved in the plot to take Eva, right now. He probably has their number in his phone. Now that Eva’s gone, he might reach out and warn them that she's no longer there. We need to see if we can get the proof we need to deal with Earl and Freya today. I don’t want Dominic to be able to warn them,” Reese finally spoke.
“I think that’s an excellent idea, honey. Let me lock the door so no one can get in here and realize that we’re gone. I wouldn’t mind having a little talk with him myself. I think you're right. They’ve probably been in contact all these years. Earl and Freya had become way too sure of their believe that Eva would never return. They had to have had a reason for feeling that confident. I think we need to go now, before he can send out a warning. I would like to see their faces when Eva comes down to dinner tonight,” I replied.
I would like to see the look on their faces when they realize that everything they’ve done has been for nothing. Our daughter is back, and she's going to be the one who takes over the pack, not Shane. I couldn’t be happier about it,” Reese responded with a smile.
But it wasn’t a nice smile. It was a cold smile that promised all the wrongs our daughter had to endure would be repaid tenfold. I smiled back at him as I slipped the lock into place. Then we were on the same page. I didn’t want Earl or Freya to see what was coming. I knew that seeing her would be a shock for them, one that they wouldn’t be able to hide without being given a warning. Her strolling into the dining room tonight would be a shock for all three of them.
“Let me tell Rainey to go get clothes and personal items for Eva before we leave. She needs so much, Reese. She has so little to her name. We will ned to go with her to get her stocked up. But she will need a few outfits for the next couple of days before we can do that. We can go either tomorrow or the next day to get everything she needs. But she will need something nice to wear tonight when she meets her aunt, uncle, and cousin. I want her to look her best when she makes her grand appearance,” I told him.
“She does indeed,” Reese answered before standing up and taking my hand. We have a visit we need to attend to.
Chapter 24Elaine’s POV If I had known this was going to happen, I would never have come here. I would have let Earl and Freya deal with Eva on their own. I wouldn’t have been included in any of this. The disappointment that is radiating off of Abram is making my heart hurt. I can’t stand seeing him looking at me like that. “What’s so wrong with wanting my son to have his birthright? He deserved to be the Alpha here; he always has. Abram, you have always been too hard on him and way too easy on Reese. You’ve always been like that,” I argued. “Elaine, what you call easy on Reese was the fact that he didn’t fly off the handle every time he didn’t get his way. He didn’t act like a spoiled pup all the time. Reese always took training and the job seriously, unlike Earl. Reese knew what the job entailed, but he didn’t want to take the Alpha position from Earl. He felt terrible and told me he would help Earl until Earl could manage the pack on his own. I was the one who refused to a
Chapter 23Eva’s POV I felt the fear rolling off of them in waves. Shane was scared, too, but he pretended he wasn't listening. He was trying to continue his conversation with his friend. But there was no way that I was going to let any of them wiggle out of this. I knew that my parents were too upset to speak, so I was going to do it for them. “I don’t want my parents to have to say the words, so I’ll do it for them. Something very serious happened at the Stone Fall pack. Mom and Dad aren’t talking about the emotional or physical abuse that I suffered while I was there. Mom’s spell ended up working a little too well on me. She could have lifted the spell if she knew where I was being held. I guess I have you to thank for that, Elaine. I’m sorry. I just can’t force myself to call you my Grandmother. You’ve never loved me, not from the moment I was born. It’s clear that Shane is the only grandchild you love, and not me. But it's okay, I can live with that,” I stated, looking dire
Chapter 22Elaine’s POV This little bitch is much worse than Earl and Freya told me. I was shocked that Abam was already supporting her. He just met her. Why does he have such a good opinion of her in such a short amount of time? How the hell did that happen? “I wanted to ask you about that, Kiara. I heard that Eva suffered at the hands of the pack that held her hostage. Abram didn't tell me how you managed to find her?” I asked. “Let's head in to take our place for dinner. It’s already 6 pm, and the pack members are waiting for us. I’ll answer that question during dinner,” Kiara replied. I was angry that she would just say it. Why does this have to be a mystery? That was rude and disrespectful to me, but I didn't want to press the matter. I walked stiffly, following Earl and Freya into the dining room. Shane was already at the far end of the table with a friend of his. His parents sat next to him, and I sat down next to Earl. Abram took the seat next to mine, with Eva sea
Chapter 21Eva’s POV I was ready to meet my grandparents. I had all the information I needed about both of them. I was told that my grandfather was very excited to meet me. If my grandmother thought that I would just hide out in my room in fear of her, she had another thing coming. With each passing day, I got stronger in every single way. Meari was a physical presence, one that made my sight, hearing, and strength far better than they had ever been. Ashra was a spirit, no she was different than that. She was more of a guide to me. She didn’t speak to me as much as Meari did. But I knew that when she did speak, I needed to listen. She warned Meari and me when danger was present. She also could sense when someone was lying. Now that has been very helpful in navigating the pack. If I didn’t have her in my corner, I would have probably been killed by now. Not everything in this pack was as it seemed. There were some who believed that Earl should have been named Alpha. They were w
Chapter 20Elaine’s POV The closer we got to the Spirit Walkers pack, the more my excitement grew. I couldn’t wait to put our plan in motion tomorrow. But tonight, I was going to make sure that I humiliated Eva in front of the pack. She needs to learn who’s in charge here, and it certainly isn’t her. If she thinks that she can smart off to me like she did Earl and his family, she’s got another thing coming. I’ve been getting reports on Eva for years. She’s always been weak. She had no one to back her up, and she had to learn the hard way that she was entirely on her own. It makes sense that now she’s returned to her parents, she thinks that she can do what she wants. I’m here to shut that nonsense down. I know every injury that she’s ever sustained. I knew that she healed like a human. So, for Earl and Freya to insist that she’s got a wolf appear out of nowhere is unbelievable. I knew that Kiara had bound Eva’s power,s so no one could sense her. She didn’t want her to be take
Chapter 19Eva’s POV Uncle Earl had taken his family and gone to see my grandparents at their estate two days ago. My mother had filled me in on what had happened during my training that first day. I was furious. How could she love Shane more than she loved me? How dare she have me taken away to a pack that she knew was a bunch of miscreants? It was clear that she had never loved me. Finding out why hurt even more. She allowed her bias against my mother being a witch to be her reasoning behind it. My father had no issue at all with my mother. He loved her and took every opportunity to show her how much he still loved her. I had to force myself not to think about what my grandmother Elaine had done. When I dwelt on it, it took my attention off my training. But at least I had three nights of peaceful dinners, until they returned, with my grandparents in tow. If they thought having her here to back them up would protect them from my comments, they were wrong. I was going to make
