He’s the one that use to take me to the creek behind his house and jumped in mud puddles and caught toads with. He’d protect me when someone was picking on me and bandage my knees when I fell down.
My mind wanders back to a time when we were friends. “Liam! They’re coming!” I yell over the creek to where he’s fighting the invisible monsters. Liam runs over to me and jumps over a small opening in the creek, as I slip and fall into a muddy hill and pretend to be falling down. Liam grabs for my arms and pulls me up, throwing himself in front of me to face the oncoming monsters. “Don’t worry Amy. I’ll never let anyone hurt you.” He tells me as he looks into my eyes, then turns to face the monsters again. He loses his stick amongst the fight and looks back at me with worry in his eyes. “Run!” He yells, I look at him scared. Not for myself, but him. I run into the trees and find another stick for him to use and run back to him. “Liam!” I yell and throw him the stick when he turns around. He smiles his award winning smile at me and turns to defeat the rest of the monsters. He lays down the stick panting hard and walks over to me. “We did it, Amy. We killed them all.” I smile up at him as he pulls me into his side. “Liam! Amy!” His mom yells to us from the house. We both look at each other and laugh and start heading inside for lunch. His mom is not going to be happy to see us covered in mud.
We were happy go lucky kids, without a care in the world. That all changed when Liam turned twelve, it was time for him to start his Alpha training. Our parents both sat us down separately and my mom explained that we live inside a wolf pack, but that we were humans. Every time I tried to ask her why we even live here, being the only humans, she would always find a way around the question.
I couldn’t hide the fact I was a human anymore, while all my friends started getting their wolves, and I didn’t. They could smell the difference between me and them. Now, the only friend I have left is Mia. She’s the only one who stood by my side through all the bullying and beatings. It was hard losing everyone, but I only have to finish my junior and senior year and then I’ll be leaving.
I hope my mom comes with me, but the fact that she’s stayed here all these years, I don’t think she wants to leave. Regardless of Liam and I’s falling out, my mom and his have remained inseparable. They say we’ll figure things out as we get older, I say they’re crazy.
Luna Julia is Liams mom, she treats me as her own, regardless of everything. I don’t go over as often anymore, mostly just once a year on my birthday, she has me over for a dinner to celebrate.
Seeing Liam reminds me of everything I’ve lost, so any other attempt is usually turned down. Besides Liam never shows up for my birthday dinner, so it’s usually okay. She never lets me forget that she and Alpha John care about and love me though.
To say it’s unfortunate to be a human amidst a wolf pack, is an understatement. As soon as Clara and her minions, Olive and Kylie found out it was the end for me. I’ve suffered many injuries either directly or indirectly from the she devils. That’s what Mia and I call them. Mia has had her share, since she chooses to remain friends with me. Though, she still has an uncanny ability to talk and be friendly with everybody, except the she devils. I’ve tried to let her go, but she doesn’t allow it, saying that we’re in all of this together. She’s been my saving grace other than my mom.
My mom has been everything to me since I was born. My dad was never apart of the picture, just another thing my mom keeps to herself. Honestly, after sixteen years of never even receiving a birthday card from him, I could care less. He clearly doesn’t care about me, I see no reason to care for him.
I jump out of the shower and run through my morning routine, since I’m late this morning. Once I’m ready in my black crop top and jeans, I run out the front door and stop in my tracks.
I see Liam leaving his house to get in his car, regardless of everything, no one can deny how handsome he is, he’s show stopping. Much more so than the boy I use to know. Along with the getting taller, he’s filled out more to. His muscles strain at his shirt, daring someone to try and fight him. He’s really started growing into his future Alpha status.
I watch as he gets into his car, seemingly without a care in the world. He’s got his whole life figured out. He’s going to be Alpha of this pack once his father steps down. He has a beautiful girlfriend, it’s Clara so I can’t say the perfect girlfriend. According to her they will be mates and live happily ever after. And all of the friends in the world, everybody wants to be friends with the Alpha, but it also comes with built in friends as well.
Walker is his future Beta, Cole his future Delta, and Dallas his, or should I say ‘Clara’s’ future Gamma. They were all friends before they turned twelve, and their bond has only gotten stronger, when everybody started getting their wolves.
Amy looks over at the window as the moon starts to rise. I can sense her wolf preening under the small amount of moonlight this cell allows, then Amy looks over at Dallas. He really is cute. I wouldn’t mind taking him for a spin, I think I could convince him to switch teams for a night. With how obsessed he is with Amy, I really don’t think it would be that hard. I really don’t understand wolf politics well enough. Their mates are supposed to be this love of the ages, the perfect other half to them, but then Amy has a Gamma that practically drools over her. Is always here, always making sure she’s okay.I haven’t seen her mate once. He never comes to make sure she’s okay. Does he really trust this Dallas so much? Or does he really trust Amy that much? Maybe he doesn’t trust either of them but doesn’t care about Amy as much as she would like to believe. Is it all a show? Holding strong in the face of a threat. Or is their love really just strong enough to handle all of this. I find it
I shift back into my human self and walk over to my dresser to grab my clothes and get dressed.I feel like this will be hard to prove. If she can read my thoughts, she’ll know what I’m doing, but she could also try and trick me into thinking she has no idea what’s going on and I’ll think she doesn’t hear my mind-links, when she really does.I really need to think about how to test this.I can’t just think of something huge that she’ll for sure comment on if she hears it, because I can’t warn anyone about what I’m doing. If I tell Liam, I know how to get rid of her, it’ll just excite him too much and it’ll hurt him more if I tell him, it’s not true and I was just testing the witch. And I can’t do it to someone who wouldn’t necessarily be as upset if I told them I lied, because then she would know something is up. She knows who’s important to me and would know if I was telling a random person something big, that something was up.I just really need to think this through.“Liam’s cancel
Something’s going on with everybody today. They all know something I don’t and it’s driving me insane. I hate that I’m not allowed to know anything, because this stupid leech in my head will use whatever knowledge they have against us.‘You think that Liam will find someone new? You know someone without a crazy witch inside them. I mean you’ve had sex with him, what? One time since you guys have been out of my cells. He’s probably craving some by now. Maybe you can convince him to come down here and play. It’d be fun. I won’t hurt him. I swear it.’ The witch chuckles, and I grit my teeth. “Shut up!” I whisper shout at her, and Dallas freezes across the table.I look over at him, and he’s looking at me worried. “Sorry.” He tells me, and I shake my head. “Not you. Sorry.” I whisper to him, and he glances up at my head like he might see the witch there.Dallas starts to talk again, but she interrupts him again, ‘What about him. He’s cute. He could be fun. I see the way he looks at you, I
I have nothing to grab onto before the wave hits me and sweeps me up underneath it.I’m not able to keep track of everyone else as I’m spun around underneath the water and slam into the side of the cave wall.My body aches as I try to push myself up out of the water for a breath of air, but I’m just pulls down again. The bag somehow slipping from my shoulder and falling gracefully into the water like it’s not a viper sent here to kill us.I can’t lose that bag. It’s the whole reason we’re here. I have to get it, but I can’t breathe.Strong arms wrap around my waist and start to pull me to the surface. I try to pull away so I can get the bag, but they refuse to let go.My head flies out of the water, and I start pulling in precious breaths of air the second it does. Goddess.I turn in Griffon’s arms and shake my head, “We have to get the bag.” I tell him and he shakes his head breathing roughly as he continues to hold us above the water. “No! I’m not risking your life, Aspen!” He shout
I walk around the stacks. There are a ton of witchy looking books and Finn and Randy start going through those, while everyone else starts at different places around the room.I think it’s more shock than anything as I make no move to touch a single thing in here.It all looks like it’s exactly where it’s supposed to be and chaotic minds organization. There are things here that have to be centuries old.“What do you think?” Griffon whispers from beside me. I glance up at him, then back at the room. “I think, there’s no way we can go through all of this.” I tell him and he takes a deep breath looking around the room again too. “Yeah. I did not expect to find so much down here. Does anything feel like it might be helpful?” He asks, and I shrug. “I’m not getting anything yet, but there has to be something down here.” I tell him and he nods.We search for an hour before Lenny throws an old dress out of an old trunk. “This is pointless. Anything important is probably hidden in some other s
My gaze moves passed the hole in the ground to where the man sits dead on the chair. “Did you get everything you needed first?” I ask, turning towards Griffon. He shakes his head, “He took poison, he killed himself before we even had a chance to find out anything.” He explains and I look at the guy again.I have no love lost for this man, but it’s still hard to see a dead body. Especially after the vision I just had. I squeeze my eyes closed, trying to erase that image from my mind. When my eyes open again, Griffon’s standing in front of me. Blocking my view from the dead man in the chair.I give him a grateful look before starting to move towards the hole in the ground, pulling out my phone and shining the flashlight into it.I take a deep breath as a hard breeze that comes from nowhere waves over my skin. I look up and none of them seemed to have felt it, so I take that as my sign.I stick my feet into the hole. “What are you doing?” Griffon growls and I turn to him. “Going in.” I r
