"Why is your face so angry, Peter?" Lizzy asked in a weak voice. After being poisoned by salad dressing containing peanuts at my house due to Leora's actions, Lizzy had to be hospitalized. The doctor who treated her said that Lizzy was lucky enough to be saved. Allergies like Lizzy's can have fatal consequences if not treated immediately. Moreover, currently Lizzy is also pregnant and her pregnancy is still relatively young, if treated too late, she might miscarry. "Leora has signed our divorce papers," I said wearily. I feel uninspired. It's like something is missing from inside me. I felt it from the moment Leora left the restaurant. Lizzy's beautifully drawn eyebrows rose. She reached out her hand and grasped it tightly. "Oh, I'm sorry, Peter," said Lizzy in a voice shaking from crying. "I'm sorry that I was the cause of your divorce." I turned my head and looked at the woman I had loved for a long time. Her beautiful face was covered in tears and she looked very sad. I reached out and hugged her gently. "Hey, don't cry, darling. The problems between Leora and I have been hidden for a long time and maybe this divorce is the best way for us." But that's a lie. I felt like I had lost the woman who had filled my life for almost four years. We met by chance at a charity event and Leora's beauty and gentle demeanor immediately made me fall in love with her. I still can't forget Lizzy since she was gone, but when I was with Leora, I felt happy and didn't remember Lizzy at all. I proposed to her for marriage after eight months of dating, even though my mother did not approve of my marriage to Leora. According to my mother, a woman who grew up in an orphanage, had unknown origins, and was poor, would only bring bad luck to our family. However, I completely ignored my mother's objections and still married Leora. Our marriage is happy and I feel that since being with Leora everything I do has become easy. She is very diligent and carries out her role as a wife perfectly. My career at the company began to climb slowly but surely, until finally I was appointed deputy director of marketing because of my brilliant achievements and some gossip circulating in the office said that my position would soon be promoted again to the director's chair. However, Leora is not yet pregnant. I want a child and so does my mother want a grandchild. It was my only source of debate with Leora whenever we argued. I suspect she is sterile, because my own family has been proven to be fertile. After buying a bigger house, I invited my mother and sister to live together so they could accompany Leora while I worked. However, Leora's gentle nature started to turn annoying since the presence of my mother and sister. She treated them arbitrarily, often got into fights with them, and was impolite. I don't know how many times my mother complained while crying because of Leora's rude and careless attitude. Leora changed and at that time, Lizzy returned from Canada. Her arrival made me realize that I still always loved her, as did Lizzy to me. We only separated due to circumstances. She divorced her husband after only eight months of marriage and decided to pursue a career as a model. Lizzy's beauty, beautiful body and outgoing attitude made her easily accepted in various work environments and soon her name as a model skyrocketed in the fashion world. I'm proud of her. We fell in love again and I started spending more time with Lizzy. It was like a honeymoon for us and my excitement was beyond compare when Lizzy said she was pregnant. I had intended to tell Leora about Lizzy's pregnancy and intended to divorce her, even though Lizzy insisted that I didn't need to marry her. She was very happy to be with me again, and didn't care if she could only be my mistress because I was still married to Leora. Lizzy's attitude, which was full of love and trust towards me, was in contrast to Leora's, who became increasingly annoying. I've discussed with my team of lawyers about divorcing Leora, just waiting for the right time and reason. I have also prepared quite a large divorce allowance for Leora. After all, she and I had a beautiful marriage, so there was no way I would let her suffer after divorcing me. I never thought that this opportunity would come so quickly, even though Lizzy had to be the victim. One thing that surprised me was when Leora asked for a divorce. I should be the one saying that, not her. My self-esteem was a little pinched because of the challenge. Even when I threatened not to give her anything, she didn't care and stubbornly left my house. "Peter, don't be sad," Lizzy said softly. "I will make your life better, together with our child." I looked at Lizzy's still flat stomach and my feelings gradually improved. I squeezed Lizzy's hand gently. "After all my work matters at the branch office in North Riviera are finished, let's get married," I said happily. "I can't wait to cradle my flesh and blood with my hands." Lizzy hugged me tightly. I feel like the luckiest man now, despite my recent divorce. Lizzy was allowed to go home from the hospital after one weeks of treatment. The doctor advised her to take bed rest to fully recover, because her womb was quite weak. I brought Lizzy to live at my house. My mother and sister swiftly prepared a new bed in my room. "I don't want to make Lizzy feel uncomfortable, sleeping in the same bed your ex-wife slept in," my mother said gently. I hugged her, feeling lucky that my mother was so caring. "I'm sorry for not listening to your warning not to marry Leora, Mom," I said, kissing her forehead. "Now it is proven that she is not a good woman." Mother hugged me and patted my back gently. "I'm glad you've separated from her, son. I can't stand being under pressure from her, and neither does your sister. She really hates us and always tries to throw us out of your house." Feelings of guilt towards my mother and sister made me hate Leora even more. Luckily it's all over now. Suddenly there was a loud sound of applause. My mother and I turned together. Leora stood in the doorway with a very different appearance. Her hand was linked to the arm of a very handsome, tall, and masculine man. "Well, hello, my ex-husband and ex-in-laws," said Leora with a sweet smile on her lips. "I'm sorry if I disturbed this emotional atmosphere, but I came because there are some of my belongings that are still left in this house. I will take them now." My mother and I exchanged glances. We were both stunned. Then, Lizzy's voice awakened my astonishment. "Mr. Jayden? Why are you here?"After Noah died in his sleep that night, Leora never felt well again, as if all her vitality had gone with him.She became gloomy and withdrawn, and the servants often caught her crying whenever she looked at anything related to Noah. Her children and grandchildren took turns keeping Leora company at J Mansion, and later, Alfred and Terence even moved there. Not only was J Mansion closer to Terence's veterinary clinic, but he also had no young children to care for, allowing him to focus more on caring for Leora. Not only that, with Leora's current condition, having Alfred and Terence close by meant that if anything happened, it would be easier to handle, as they were both doctors.Although Terence was a veterinarian, he was also skilled in human health and first aid."Mom, I made you some seafood soup," Terence said that morning. "I added a little ginger to warm you up.""Terry, I have no appetite," Leora said wearily. "I'm sorry, honey, but I just want to sleep."Terence approached
"I always get confused when it's our parents' birthdays," Elena said. "They already have everything, and they even give us things more often than we give them, right?""Yes, that's true," Lenore said, feeding Eleanor a spoonful of pudding. "Sometimes I'm embarrassed to accept their gifts, because I feel like I should be the one giving them, not them to me.""Lenore, if it's Elena, that's perfectly normal. Elena is the youngest, and she's quite a bit younger than Alfred and Evran, so she's the favorite, but we're in-laws, and what Mom and Dad do for us is truly extraordinary," Terence said."After I became the Jeremiahs' daughter-in-law, I feel as if everything is celebrated, and even when I'm sad, I can still be happy. Do you understand what I mean?" Lenore asked."That's absolutely true!" Terence replied. "Sometimes I even feel like Mom and Dad love me more than Elena, because she's so argumentative and difficult.""Hey, I'm still here," Elena said, glaring. It only lasted a moment,
Everyone in the Jeremiah family welcomed baby Eleanor, or baby El, with joy.The 11-month-old baby girl was adorable. She had a beautiful face, with big dark eyes, butter-colored skin, curly black hair, and a perpetual smile. She wasn't fussy or whiny at all, as if she understood her situation. She drank milk and ate heartily without drama, fell asleep easily, and woke up cheerful."Lenore, I'm the one who's pregnant, but why did you get the baby first?" Elena said, stroking baby El's soft cheek.Lenore laughed happily. Although it had been a long time since she'd cared for a baby, she quickly got used to it. Besides, Soraya and her two sons were always fighting to help care for baby El."Poor baby," Noah junior murmured. He looked at Lenore seriously. "Have you taken care of the birth certificate? And the other adoption paperwork?""Yes, just finished yesterday," Lenore replied. "I listed Sharvee Wilbert Khan as her mother because I wanted her to still know her wonderful, loving mot
Elena was on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. Alfred would monitor her closely, along with her obstetrician and a nutritionist.Noah Jr. converted one of the rooms in their house into a special room for Elena, with a special bed, a monitor, an ultrasound machine, and a mattress for himself while he cared for Elena."No, baby, you have to sleep in our room, because staying here with me will disturb you. The noise of these machines, and even when I have to go to the bathroom," Elena said. "You have to work every day, and I'm worried you'll get sick if you follow my schedule.""No!" Noah said stubbornly. "The nurses will stay with you and take care of you while I'm at work, but once I'm home, you're my responsibility. I'll take care of you."Leora smiled at Noah Jr.'s words. She was grateful that her daughter had a good husband who loved her so much."I'll take care of you too, Mom," said Jarend, Elena and Noah Jr.'s first son. "We've been waiting for these little ones for a
"So, everything's settled, right?" Leora asked."Yes, Mom, I promised Terry I'd never again entertain the advances of another man or woman for any reason," Alfred said firmly. "I can't afford to lose Terry."Leora chuckled. "The thing is, I don't think Terry has a problem with losing you. He's been used to it since he was young, and he'll get used to it again if necessary. So, you're the one who has to be careful."Alfred sighed. "You're right, Mom. If I could ask for one thing, I'd want it to be me who goes before Terry.""Because if he goes first, you won't be able to survive on your own, right?" Leora said. "Actually, I'm hoping the opposite with your dad."Alfred was surprised. "You're hoping Dad goes first before you?""Yes. I want to be with him until the end, and because he won't be able to be alone without me. I won't be able to die in peace knowing he's suffering from loneliness, and I'll end up haunting him just because I don't want him to be alone."Alfred laughed at Leora'
"Terry, baby, what happened? Why are you like this?" Alfred whispered in a sorrowful tone. He gently stroked Terence's thick, silky hair, staring at the man's pale, gaunt face with a crushing sense of guilt.According to the doctor, Terence was dehydrated and stressed. His body was overworked from physical exertion, and his mind was reeling from worry and sadness.Damian stared at Alfred critically. "Why did you hurt my pop, dad?"Alfred turned his gaze to his teenage son and saw sadness in his sharp eyes."I didn't do it on purpose, son," Alfred said. "It was stupid and careless on my part, but I didn't mean it. I thought everything was fine because all I was doing was work, and there was no other intention. But Doctor Ryan...""You gave him the opportunity to hurt my pop," Damian said sharply. "He kept his sadness and jealousy to himself, while trying to keep his new clinic project running smoothly, but you became more and more outrageous. You never even asked about his daily life,
