Ginika chuckled, “Sweet, you think we are sweet and cute? Or you think I am only that?” Ginika asked playfully.
Gen looked at him blankly before she nodded. “Yes, Gini. You are cute, but your blood is sweet, that’s what I mean,” She seriously explained while eyeing him like a piece of meat.
Wrong question, Ginika thought to himself as he swallowed and took a step back from the girl. Who knows if she suddenly decided to jump on him? Wait! How did she know his blood, his sweet?
With that question in mind, Ginika could not help but look at Gen suspiciously.
Foolish man. Look how you have chosen to advertise your filthiness with some lowlife rascals. Eric disdainfully thought to himself as he watched the current Emperor having a good time. “It’s your birthday party, boy. Do the people in the kingdom some favor by putting a smile on your face,” Ganto said. Eric returned his eyes to his untouched food. The red berries were still staring at him, as if begging him to take a bite.“This is the third-month, sir. How much longer will this birthday party last?”He asked curiously. Eric was already getting tired of all the pe
“There has been a trouble, my lord.” The Emperor laughed at the joke of the Bard-man. He was not even paying attention to the cavalier and the two people who were kneeling with their forehead kissing the marble floor.“Let me handle this, while my lord enjoys his party,” Eric whispered to his flippant father.“That’s alright, my, boy. Handle the matter on my behalf.” Ganto said and laughed again. The crowd was in a state of frenzy now and were all laughing hilariously with at the jokes of the Bard-man who was playing his pipe and cracking jokes at the same time.“What is the situation,” Eric asked as he stood up from the chair and toward
Ginika cursed as he slammed his head on the tree. His head throbs as an excruciating pain from his head spread throughout his body, until he could no longer see clearly from the blurred vision.“I that what you have been learning for the past six months? The transition is next month, Gini, and you are not even prepared.”Ginika gnashed his teeth at Gen’s resounding voice. He tried to stand but fell back on his knees again. Everywhere was spinning. Even his thoughts. If he was not ready, then how would he face the dragons on the day of the transitions. It was said that they would battle not only rogue dragons, but some other dangerous beast that would not even give him the chance to think about his name.
“Here what—”“Shush,” Gen shushed as her ears studied the wind, “Wait here.” She said and trotted into the dark. She was just a few paces away from Ginika when her body disintegrated into different thousands of bats and flew away. Ginika bite his lips, but released them when he felt the pain. At least I am not in some kind of dream. He collected his bag from the floor and threw the wooden sword into it. He had other weapons in the bag and was still working on his skill to master them. The bag belongs to Balak; it was the one thing that reminded him of the man. Even though there was no love lost between them, a tiny voice in his head still wished that the man was here. Balak had been the one that had taught him the first art of swordsmanship. Let your courage speak when fear tries to raise its voice. The man had always said. Even though they had spent a short time together, he was sure that he learned a great deal from the WatcherBetty and Gabriel were fast asleep now. The way their
Ginika felt his stomach falling into a void. They killed master Dante. The boy’s words resounded in his ears. The guilt that had been creeping in his stomach was overshadowing him now. If only he had obeyed the rules and had followed on as he had promised, perchance he would still be in the brotherhood, and master Dante would still have been alive. The brotherhood would not have been aflame, and this weeping boy would not have envisioned crying like this.“What happened?” Someone asked from behind, but Ginika knew the voice all too well. It was Betty, and the person who was panting heavily behind her would be Gabriel, no doubt.“I caused it all,” Ginika said, “I had not been so foolish, perhaps everyone would still be alive.”“Stop brooding over what has happened and start looking at the bright side. If we had stayed here in the academy, we would have died.”“Are there others?” Ginika asked the little boy who was still crying a river, totally ignoring Betty.“Yes, but just a hand few o
They were circling him now, and the more they engulf him, the now Ginika clinched to his wooden staff as though it was his lifeline.A shadow covered him. Ginika could not describe his face from the darkness. The man raises his fist, and the others who had been circling him stopped. Perhaps he was their Commander or something, for he jumped down his horse and removed the dark metallic helmet he wore. The light of the burning buildings flickered with the heavy wind, and Ginika could see in a passing moment, the clean shaved mustache. The man’s armor also glinted with the fire, revealing the mighty chest and the abs and the long sword that hung on his side.Ginika swallowed and shifted his weight uneasily as the man stopped some paces away from him, with those lofty eyes which at the moment was impossible to see.“Who are you?” Came the hoarse voice of the man.“Depends who is asking.” Ginika heard himself saying, before he could even think about it. Even now, he regretted ever saying th
However, it was already too late. A blinding white light had already shot out of the commander’s palms and had blasted Gen on the stomach, sending her flying backward. Her scream filled the night and resonated in Ginika’s eardrum. Even as she rolled lifelessly to the other side of the compound, Ginika could still hear the soul-piercing scream. “Gen!!” He shouted and stood up from where he had been lying. His body was still aching, but it was as if he was filled with a renewed energy. The agony in his heart made the pain ebb away.“Gen?” He said as he picked the girl’s head in his laps. Her body was cold and as pale as he could remember.“Gi..Gi…” She tried to say, but black blood covered her mouth.“Shhh,” Ginika shushed and wiped away the blood from her mouth. His weepy eyes studied the girl’s boy but paused when they fell upon her stomach. The place where the commander’s light had slammed her was open, and Ginika could see through to the other end. Even though the light was no long
Ginika heaved and wiped his sweaty hands on his pants. His blue eyes studied the whole environment, which were still lying in total desolation. The stench of burnt flesh also covered his nostril, churning his stomach. He shifted his weight to the other foot when he heard the footfalls that came carousing the voice of the burning buildings.“Gini,” Betty sobbed and ran into his open arm, “What happened?” she asked.“It’s over, Betty. Those barbarians will not hurt anybody again. It’s over.” “But how did you…?” She stammered. Ginika followed her squinted eyes, noting the frown that covered the glowing skin. “You did all this?” Betty asked.Ginika wanted to laugh. Smokes were still popping out from the body of what should have been the cavaliers, only that now the ashes and the ascending were the only testimony of what should have been. Standing here now, he couldn’t imagine that he was responsible for the catastrophe. It was hard to imagine.“It’s a long story, Betty,” He said when the
