F O U R.

THE UNEXPECTED VISIT.

Giordana.

One month later.

Staring out of my office window at the drizzling rain, I felt a sense of peace and calm. Spring had always been my favorite season.

A month had passed since the wedding and my life was back to normal.

Same old routine; from work at the hospital which was as stressful as usual, to my lonely apartment, to church sometimes. Ella and I spoke once in a while. She had gone on a long honeymoon to Bali with her husband and they still were not back so I had not seen her since the wedding.

My phone's ringing tone snapped me out of my thoughts. Picking the Phone from where it lay on the table, I checked to see who the caller was. I smiled as I realized it was Ella. Think about the devil...

"Hey, bitch," she chirped.

"Seriously? We've not spoken for two days and I'm getting an insult when you call?" I gasped dramatically.

"Idiot," she chuckled.

"How are you and your prince charming?" I teased in a sing-song voice.

She giggled and replied, mimicking my tone. "My prince charming is charming and I'm fine. How about you? How is work at the hospital going?"

"Well I'm fine and work is just... normal I'd say," I replied.

"So... no new boyfriend?" She asked. I could imagine her wriggling her brows.

"Nope," I answered casually, popping the 'p'.

"Seriously Dana? Why are you doing this? do plan to die single? Why are you still dwelling on what happened years back? Babe, you need to have a life!"

"Aye captain," I replied laughing.

"I'm being serious girl, start going out, get to know people maybe from there you'd find someone interested in you, stop hiding for God's sake."

"Girl I'll pass, that you were lucky doesn't mean I'd be lucky too."

"Hmmm..." she sighed.

"I'll give you a piece of serious advice now, not every guy is Jasper. Some are genuine but you won't find out until you open up ok?"

"I've heard, I'll try."

"Better, now that's my girl!" she answered happily.

"Ok bye I gotta go take care of some stuff now, we'll chat later," She said.

"Stuff that has to do with hubby dearest right?" I teased.

"Ugh... Giordana shut it!" she groaned.

I chuckled "Sorry, sorry go now and take care of your 'stuff' bye!" With a huff, she hung up.

Dropping the phone I sighed.

'She's right you know, not everyone is Jasper, not everyone will break your heart.'

If only I could but I'm not ready yet.

'You're not getting any younger though.'

I know right?

While I was still having a mind battle my office cell phone rang.

I answered the phone.

"Doctor Giordana Quinton on the line how can I help you?"

"Good morning Doctor, a Mr. Forbes is here to see you should I send him in?"

"Sure," I replied absentmindedly.

"Nice office Giordana." I heard a deep masculine voice not up to two minutes later.

The voice seemed oddly familiar but I couldn't place my finger on it. Looking up to see who it was, I was met with the face of someone who I wished to never see again. I was utterly bewildered.

'How did he find me?'

An involuntary gasp immediately left my mouth but I quickly cleared my throat and composed myself.

"Good afternoon Mr. Philip Forbes," I greeted with a professional smile.

"To what do I owe this visit?" I asked.

"Don't you offer a seat to visitors?" He retorted.

"Oh, pardon my manners. Please have a seat, Mr. Forbes," I replied with my smile still intact.

He sat on the chair comfortably and scanned my office for some time before bringing his gaze to focus on my face.

"Marry Me," He said cooly.

"What?" I asked confused, my smile immediately fading.

"I said Marry me Giordana," He repeated.

My expression went from shock to confusion to anger.

"What the hell!" I yelled, "Have you fucking lost it?"

This is certainly NOT how I pictured my wedding proposal.

"What's so incredulous about what I just said, Dana?" He asked, still unfazed

"It's Ms. Quinton for you, Mr. Forbes. I really do not know if you took some hard drugs before coming to my office this morning to say such bullshit all in the name of joking but please kindly leave my office before I lose it completely," I ranted, rising to my feet.

"You think I'm joking?" He scoffed. "Lady, I'm far from it and as a matter of fact, you will marry me. You either choose to do it willingly or I force you," he declared in a bored tone and expression.

"Well I'm really sorry Mister but I won't help you with this, kindly leave my office please," I insisted smiling professionally again.

"First of all Giordana I'm not asking for your help I'm rather telling you so you'd get prepared but you seem quite stubborn so... how about I make Daddy's company go bankrupt and Mom's Wedding shop go out of the market?" He threatened in a low voice.

His calm demeanor was pissing me big-time but I also tried to stay calm and unbothered, two can play the game.

"Oh yeah? Boy, you're bluffing. My father's company is not one you can just bring down. He's a powerful man and so is my mother so stop deluding yourself, an ant like you is not capable of anything," I scoffed.

"You seem not to know who you are talking to yet."

"I think I'm talking to Mr. Philip Forbes the royal jackass, any other thing you'd like to tell me about yourself?" I retorted, my voice dripping with contempt.

"Very well then I'd tell you other things. I happen to be the CEO of Royalty holdings, son of Alexander Forbes," he said with a devilish smirk.

'Royalty holdings?'

'Philip freaking Forbes is the CEO of Royalty holdings?'

"Well, congratulations Mr. Forbes but I'm not interested in who you are so... I believe we're done talking here."

His grey orbs hardened and his stare turned steely and cold, really cold I was inwardly squirming.

'Don't show him you're scared.'

Rising swiftly from his seat, hands in pockets he strode toward me then bent to my level, lips very close to my ear. I felt his hot breath fanning my neck, then he spoke.

"Very soon, sooner than you expect you'll have no choice than to be interested in who I am and no one, I mean no one dismisses me, soon to be Mrs. Forbes," he whispered.

His height and words were very intimidating but I refused to back down.

"Well, I'd like to see you try Mr. Forbes," I challenged.

He leaned back and stared at me, then smirked. "I'll take that as a challenge Giordana," he said cooly.

That being said, he walked out of my office.

I plopped on my chair immediately to calm my nerves.
"What the heck just happened here?" I asked myself.

'Okay, okay, inhale, exhale.' Which I did.

After regaining my composure I thought about everything he said.

Why would he ask me to marry him, How did he even know my name?

'You sang at the wedding party.'

But then how did he find the hospital I worked?

'Background check; The man is filthy rich so he probably knows everything about you right now!'

Hell, I won't even be surprised if he knows where I live!

But why me? he could ask any actress or model and they'd be happy to oblige but me? I'm certainly no celebrity at all, just some ordinary woman so what's this about?

'It's no doubt a joke,'

I concluded, gathering my things to go for a lunch break. I went to Rita's office (a fellow doctor and a very good friend in the hospital), called her then we went for lunch together.

The rest of the day passed in a blur. In between, Philip Forbes' words were ringing in my head. 'It can't be possible,' I reassured myself.

Hopping into my car when the day was over, I sped through the new york traffic humming to the music I put on.

Immediately I got into my room I showered and changed my clothes, said a short prayer, and on collapsing on the bed, I was out like a light.
