Our school took a trip to the largest and most well-known museum in our country. The Genesis Museum, it was called. A museum filled with artifacts and traces of lost culture and traditions.

Most of the students grumbled and complained, finding the trip 'boring' and yep, I was among the said people. I see no use in this meaningless trip. Why do we, as living people, have to worry about the affairs of the dead and what they did back in the 1990s?

I fought the urge to roll my eyes as the teacher walked towards yet another painting of a prominent figure, rambling on about their background, status, and past works and urging us to take notes. My eyelids drooped and I yawned.

Suddenly, I heard the female students screaming in admiration, and I had to snap my gaze to see what or who exactly they were looking at.

"I know that this will get your attention," The teacher, Miss Stella, spoke with a slight chuckle.

Chiseled perfection, piercing blue eyes, Silver hair, and a smile that embodied the devil's temptation, exuding power and something unfathomable.

I felt my heart quicken as I stared at the man in the painting. It felt as if my heart was about to explode. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the rhythmic thud of my heart beneath my palm. As I tried to steady my racing thoughts, I shifted my gaze, allowing my eyes to wander anywhere else except the painting.

"He is Lord Theodoros, The 7th and last emperor of Elyria. Elyria, a powerful ancient empire, was said to be cursed by the gods for the theft of Aethonix, the sun god's essence. As the empire's population grew, their female's ability to produce offspring mysteriously waned, ultimately leading to their wipeout and downfall. King Theodoros, the last ruler of Elyria, was said to possess unparalleled wisdom and bravery, but even he couldn't reverse the empire's fate"

I found myself scribbling down most of what she said. What the fuck is wrong with me?

I think it is nothing, it's not a sin to jot down topics you find interesting, right??

Miss Stella stared down at the wordings on a thick paper next to the painting before reading out. "Artist's Inspiration: This masterpiece is attributed to the renowned 19th-century artist, Alessandro della Rosa, who drew inspiration from ancient Greek and Roman mythology, as well as the tragic tale of Elyria's demise"

The teacher soon moved to a statue, and once again, I lost interest, but my mind still lingered on the painting I had just seen. I thought I would forget it after a few minutes and I just needed to give it some time. How wrong I was.

After what seemed like an eternity, we left the museum and I took a bus home. I took a fresh shower, changed into my nightgown, and plunged onto the bed, falling asleep. I didn't bother to eat dinner cause of how knocked out I was.

As I fell deeper into my sleep, I heard deep voices discussing around me. I frowned, opened my eyes, and covered my ears with my hands. It was 8:00 PM. Can't the neighbors just keep it down?

Suddenly, My chest seized, as if an invisible fist had clenched around my heart. The air rushed from my lungs. I felt a searing pain, like a tear through my very heart. My heart raced, then stuttered, like a skipped beat. The room around me blurred, colors bleeding together.

The voices around me started to become clearer and clearer by the second.

"Are you sure it would work?"

"It has to work and if it doesn't, the future of Elyria will be destroyed"

I frowned. Elyria??

I closed my eyes tightly as the sharp, stabbing pain shooting through my chest intensified, causing tears to well up and spill down my cheeks. I winced and pressed my hand against my chest, feeling the pressure and the ache intensify with every beat of my heart.

Am I going to die?

Just like that?

Another thug and then, silence came. After I had managed to regain my composure, I slowly became aware that I wasn't lying in my bed as I had initially thought. Instead, I could feel the cold sensation of the floor against my kneecap, indicating that I was kneeling on the ground.

I looked around, flinching a bit. I was not in my room either. Dread started to seep in and I panicked.

"It worked!" A deep, magnetic voice echoed around the empty hall where I suddenly found myself in.

I turned in the direction of the voice to see two masculine figures hidden in the dark at the far corner of the hall. "Who are you? What's going on?" I asked in fear, using my knees to move a few steps backward.

The two men ran towards me, grabbing my arm on both sides.

“Destiny has led you to us, and starting today, you will be our beloved bride and bring forth an heir to continue our legacy."

What?

I stared at the other man and froze.

Wait....

I remember the man in the painting. The 7th and last leader of the Elyria empire, King Theodoros was standing right in front of me. As I gazed upon him, I couldn't help but notice that his appearance exuded an even greater level of attractiveness and handsomeness than the artist had captured.

And the man standing next to Theodoros, who had spoken first was just as breathtaking. He oozed power and authority, his chiseled features were striking. A sharp jawline, dark hair, and piercing dark eyes defined his ruggedly handsome face.

Suddenly, Theodoros swept me up into his arms before running to God knows where. I struggled, trying to pull out from his strong grip but my efforts were futile. Soon, the door to the hall was opened and Theodore stepped out with me still in his arms.

People were there, more than a hundred, standing there and staring back at us with curiosity.

"Everyone, The summoning was a success! This is the woman who is fated to be I and Danzo's bride"
