There was warmth and it was soft and too familiar. It felt like a summer haze against my closed eyes.

"Oh my baby girl, I'll be back before the sun sets okay?" said a familiar voice as she fondly touched my chubby cheeks before walking away while I stared at her till her back disappeared amongst the trees

Mother..

"Okay, I better go home before I catch a cold" I slowly muttered to myself and then I spotted their shadows from behind the trees... Those annoying brats and it was obvious they were out to bully me again...

I had been running through the forest with scraped knees, bruised arms and a bleeding cheek, then I curled tightly to myself in a cold shed behind the packhouse, hiding from those annoying girls who laughed whenever they saw me and bullied me each time they saw me or whenever I tried to play with them.

"Worthless Omega,” they sneered. "Don't play with us, you'd make us worthless like you”

I didn't answer. I just lowered my head and took the blows, the cruel jabs, and th

The wolfsbane in my body felt like it was spreading into every single part of my soul and it hurt so bad. I just wanted the slow creeping pain to end quickly.I slowly opened up my eyes and the world seemed to have blinked with me.As I found myself in a meadow again that seemed to have been stretching around me. Dandelions swayed gently, their golden petals felt soft against the breeze, but they didn’t feel real. Nothing here did. The wind carried no scent. The grass didn’t rustle. The air was too still. like the world was holding on to its breath.I took a step forward and the sky flickered and glitched like an old memory from blue, to red, and then black. Flames bloomed in patches above me, not descending from clouds, but flickering between the spaces in the sky like the world itself was tearing at the seams. Was this limbo? Was I dying? And in the far distance, I sighted them. There were figures, some cloaked in what seemed to be silver light, while the others were wrapped in s

"If any one of you remembers anything... Anything at all, do not hesitate to find me."And then I dismissed the last of the servants with a silent nod, then slowly watched them bow and scatter like autumn leaves in the wind. None dared ask questions. I sat on the edge of the stone hedge in my garden with my hands folded in my lap and my spine painfully straight. The breeze was cool.. too cold for summer and it cruelly bit my skin like it knew the bad and unforgivable things I had done.I could still feel the sting of Mira’s cheek beneath my palm.Goddess please forgive me.I hadn’t meant to raise my hand. But she had said words I couldn't take... and all I saw was red hot anger. That look in her eyes... like she was slipping further away from me, like she enjoyed it. I didn’t know her anymore. Or maybe I never really had.Raymond’s voice echoed in my mind from earlier, right after I had slapped his dear Mira... after he’d pulled me away from her like I was the one losing control

The door creaked again.. this time slowly, deliberately.I didn’t turn around. I didn’t need to.Only one person in this palace had the audacity to enter my chambers without giving a proper knock.. acting like he bloody owned the floor beneath my feet.“Did mother send you to stress me over little miss vanishing green eyed snake?” I called without looking up at him, “Or are you just here to mope at me to tell you what I didn't do right and pretend to be father of the year again?”I heard the door click shut. His footsteps were slow, calm, measured... as always. “You’ve always been dramatic,” he said softly. “But not even you can deny that if the Lycan prince should return without his dear Kira... hell won’t just break loose, it’ll bury us all.”I finally turned to face him, and narrowed my brow. “Really?... And what exactly does that have to do with the innocent me? I mean I'm not the one who lost her. I'm not even with her.”He stepped farther into the room, eyes sweeping across

The door clicked softly shut behind me as I stepped back into my chambers. Moonlight spilled across the polished floor in sharp, silver slits. The rest of the palace had gone quiet hours ago... but I didn’t need sleep.No... not tonight.I moved to my wardrobe and gently pulled it open, then pressed my palm against the back panel. A dull click responded to my touch... my secret closet. It was small, and just enough space to hide the things no one could ever find.I slid the compartment open. And carefully placed a jar filled with rain water and a pair of eyes as well as a tongue..."You shouldn’t have said yes when I asked you to help me," I murmured quietly.I closed the door and locked it again. The air in the room felt a bit colder now, though I knew it wasn’t because of the weather. It was always cold when something terrible was about to happen.I turned to my mirror. My cheek still throbbed and ached where Mother had effortlessly slapped me. Not just once but twice..A clean

The night wind carried something strange.... too still, too sharp.I narrowed my eyes at the heavy treeline ahead, and my jaw clenched in annoyance as Ragnar continued to stir beneath my skin. The air smelled off and wrong. It was not blood nor was it death. It was something I couldn't quite place yet.“William,” I snapped over my shoulder. My beta appeared at once, ready. “We’re wasting time combing this ground like humans. Tell them to shift. Now.”He hesitated for a split second before nodding in agreement. “Yes, Alpha.”I didn’t wait for further conversation. My fingers curled, my bones shifted with the familiar spark of the transformation. My body lengthened as fur pushed through my skin, and my claws came forward. Within seconds, Ragnar stood in my place.. taller, brown yet darker than the night itself, grey eyes blazing like smoke on a cold summer day.William followed and we ran.I felt the earth tear and snap beneath our paws as we surged forward. Trees blurred past. The moo

The forest was too still.Although the branches bent in the wind, there was no actual sound. No bird, No insect, No life. It was just the cold, harsh whisper of unease and emptiness in my mind as Kira was gone.My claws dug into the bark of the pine beneath my fingers as I tried to ground myself.. tried to think, to map out a proper plan as to how I would find and get her back to me. But the scent... her scent, it was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It was clinging to the bark of trees, it was tangled in thorns, it was even soaked into the moss of the forest floor. It was faked. It was covered. It was bloody scattered.“She was dragged at first,” Kai snarled as he paced in my head. “Then she was lifted. Then.. damn it, I can’t follow it. They masked her trail, they knew all too well what they were doing.”I swallowed hard, forcing down the knot of panic and anger climbing up through my throat. I hadn’t felt her presence in a few hours. I could feel nothing... not even a flic
