Chapter 7: Dante's POV

We ran as fast as our legs could carry and we made it in time to our mate, if she had taken two more steps that would have been the end of her.

I just found her and I wouldn't dare lose her—not for anything.

As I grabbed her to myself in an attempt to carefully stop her from falling, I couldn't help but take in a big whiff of her intoxicating scent. Strawberries—my favorite—and a touch of daisies. The combination sent a rush of longing through me, making my grip on her tighten just a little.

I felt her shudder underneath my touch as she tried her best to explain why she had come to the cliff, but that was a story for another day. Right now she was safe and that was all that mattered.

The cold gust of wind blew across the open cliff, and I saw how the hairs on her arms stood. She was cold.

Without a second thought, I removed the cloak I had on and placed it on her trying to shield her from the cold and her scent intensified or was it my longing for her that ignited?

Kai growled within me restless. He wanted her as bad as I did and the daisies that complemented her intoxicating strawberry scent made our longing worse, I could feel my shaft throb painfully.

“Not now, Kai.” I warned him, gritting my teeth as I tried my hardest not to let him out.

I must have spent a long time trying to help her wear the cloak because she suddenly tried to bring back my attention by asking if I heard a noise.

I understood what she was trying to say so I gave her my best smile and played along.

"... It's the wind" I said and Kai being as impatient as ever quickly scooped her into our arms

I was waiting for her to disagree, to tell me to put her down. But to my surprise she said nothing and let me carry her back to camp.

The walk back to camp was silent and it only made things worse as I tried my best to keep my gaze on the road but her intoxicating scent continued to slip in and out of my senses making me yearn for her and as if that wasn't enough her warmth seeped through my body.

I was trying—I really was. Kai on the other hand was struggling more than I was. If it was left to him we would have taken her right there and then. But the thought of forcing ourselves on our fragile mate disgusted both of us.

And then, as if the hunger for her wasn’t enough… as if keeping Kai in check wasn’t hard enough… as if walking with a painful hard-on while carrying the reason for it wasn’t already pure torture…

Her warm hands made contact with my skin, sending Thunderbolts into my body making Kai and I almost let go of our constraints

“Ahhh.”

Kai groaned in my head. My pants grew tighter making me stop dead in my tracks

“What was she doing? What was she trying to do to me?.”

"Mmmm… calm down Kai" I forced out, trying to regain control.

I was so tempted to look down at her but I stopped myself. If I looked at her green eyes I might lose my sanity and scare her.

Kai finally settled, and I continued walking. It didn't take me too long to notice that she had fallen asleep as her breathing became even and her warmth skyrocketed all over my body sending shockwaves and chills down my spine, making every part of me ache for her.

“Oh, moon goddess,” what have I done to deserve this? Kai whimpered and I let out a quiet chuckle.

I stealthy walked back to camp and into my—no,I mean our—tent. Me and my Mate.

I placed her sleeping body on the bed and carefully remove the cloak so it wouldn't disturb her sleep.

I couldn't stop myself from staring deeply at her closed eyes and rose colored lips and how magnificent she looked in my tunic. With each breath she took her mounds rose to perfection and fell so beautifully

I could easily make out her hips and the part where her thighs started from, wondering how sweet she must taste and how it would be sucking her mounds while my shaft was deep inside her

"Urgh" my shaft throbbed inside my pants painfully, every passing moment I spend near this woman drives me crazy.

Damn it

I stood up swiftly, forcing myself to lie on the cold floor, far away from her. My raging erection pressed against my pants, hidden from her view in case she woke up. My heart pounded like a wild horse who had been running for hours.

What I was enduring—what Kai and I were enduring—was worse than any battle. This was torture.

Self control.

I tried to think about anything, anything at all that didn't involve the woman on my bed but how could I when her scent was everywhere, her soft breathing and calm heartbeat were playing rent free in my head

"Urgh…"

Kai groaned in frustration.

"How much longer?"

Even I don't have an answer.

I had managed to compose my body language when I heard her heart beating frantically.

She was awake.

"Rest, Kira" I calmly spoke as my feet found it's way towards her as if they had minds of their own and I carfully tucked her in trying my best to cover her mounds from my view.

Once I had successfully covered her, I stood up to leave but she held on to my hand telling me to stay. To sleep next to her.

The battle inside me raged.

I shouldn’t. I couldn’t.

But oh, for the love of the moon, I didn’t want to leave.

Kai didn’t want to leave either.

Slowly, carefully, I laid down beside her.

I watched her close her eyes to sleep,

"she's scared nothing else, once she sleeps I'll leave"

I calmly closed my eyes, meditating trying my best to keep Kai and my shaft at Bay.

Then, out of nowhere—

A soft, warm hand touched my face.

My eyes snapped open.

"Are you okay?" I asked, my voice slightly strained.

She didn’t answer.

She was asleep.

But her hand… her hand had moved to my chest.

Kai groaned, this time in pure pleasure and pain.

As I stared at her hands placed perfectly on my chest I felt a pair of eyes watching me, I didn't want to scare her or make her feel embarrassed so I slowly raised my head.

Trying my best to act like I wasn't being affected by her hand.

"Are you.... alright ki....."

But before I could finish—

Oh, moon goddess…

The next thing I saw...

No, tasted, were heavenly.

My body froze.

Her lips were on mine and... and

"Finally."

Kai growled darkly.

And just like that, he took over.
