Chapter Four – Celeste’s Arrival

Celeste’s POV

The car slowed to a halt in front of the mansion, and I stepped out, letting the cool night air brush against my face. For a moment, I just stood there, taking in the place I hadn’t set foot in for years. It was magnificent, sprawling, and everything I had imagined in my quietest dreams. But it was more than that, it was mine now. Every corner, every stone, every detail was a part of the life I had been preparing to reclaim, far from the shadows of Nicholas and his betrayals.

As I walked up the grand marble stairs, the staff began to notice me. The moment I entered, the maids, guards, and assistants all stopped their tasks. Their eyes widened briefly, then fell into perfect composure.

“Good evening, Miss Celeste,” the head maid said with a respectful bow. “Welcome back.”

“Thank you,” I replied softly, nodding once, a small smile touching my lips. I could feel the shift in energy, the atmosphere acknowledged my presence, my return. This was no longer a place of quiet preparation; it was mine, and I would run it on my terms.

The guards straightened, their eyes sharp and attentive. Even the youngest assistants looked at me with subtle awe. They had seen me only as the quiet investor in the shadows, the girl who had kept herself hidden. Now, they were meeting the woman who had decided she would no longer be unseen.

I walked past them, my heels clicking lightly against the marble floor, and made my way to my office. The doors opened automatically, recognizing me. I stepped in, breathing in the familiar scent of leather, polished wood, and subtle hints of jasmine? a fragrance I had installed long ago, my signature mark on the place.

“Bean,” I said, my voice calm but carrying authority. “It’s been such a long time.”

My assistant, Bean, looked up from the stack of reports on his desk. He was always precise, always steady. “It’s been a long time since you’ve been here, Miss Celeste. Five years.”

I walked over to the large window behind my desk, looking out at the city lights below, and nodded. “Thank you for staying. For being here. For… everything.” My voice faltered slightly, not from weakness but from the weight of memory.

Bean smiled faintly. “You’ve done a lot for yourself, Celeste. I’m just here to make sure nothing slips while you were… elsewhere.”

I turned to face him fully, my expression steady. “I know, and I appreciate it. More than I can say.”

He leaned back slightly, folding his hands. “We’ve been the hidden investor in your ex-husband’s company all this time. Now… it’s time.”

I raised an eyebrow, already knowing what he meant. “Withdraw everything,” I said firmly.

Bean nodded. “Understood. All shares, investments, and positions will be liquidated immediately.”

“Yes,” I replied, my lips pressing into a thin line. “Yes, withdraw all.”

There was a brief pause, and Bean hesitated before speaking again. “That reminds me… we are still searching for your real parents.”

I stiffened slightly at the mention. My past was something I had carefully locked away, a place of pain and uncertainty. The orphanage. The cold floors. The nights of silence, wondering if anyone in the world was actually waiting for me. I turned away from the window, resting my hands on the edge of my desk.

“You can stop investigating,” I said finally, my voice quiet but resolute. “If my real parents don’t want me, then I don’t want them either. We cannot make the mistake of choosing someone to be my parents when they have no desire for me. That kind of rejection is not something I need again.”

Bean studied me for a moment, his eyes calculating but kind. “I understand. But… I heard something recently. The wealthiest CEO in the country is looking for their real daughter.”

I paused, my mind flicking back to the rumors I had always dismissed. Nicholas had married me thinking he had all the cards. Isabella was his supposed target for revenge. But now… now there was an opportunity, a connection to something bigger, something I hadn’t dared hope for.

“Can they be my real parents?” I asked, my voice soft, almost a whisper, but carrying an undercurrent of resolve. “Stop investigating. Let it be. If they are meant to be, they will be. If not… it does not matter.”

Bean nodded, silently acknowledging the weight behind my words. “As you wish, Miss Celeste.”

I exhaled slowly, letting the tension leave my shoulders. For the first time in years, I allowed myself to feel the small spark of hope — hope tempered by strength, by the knowledge that I had survived everything, and come out smarter, stronger, and more determined than ever.

I walked over to my desk, picking up a stack of files — corporate reports, investment papers, and confidential documents. They were mine, all of them, ready to wield. My fingers brushed over a folder labeled with Nicholas’s company. A small smile touched my lips.

“The time has come,” I whispered to myself. “It’s time for the world to know who I really am.”

Bean stood quietly behind me, as he always had, a steady presence. “And what will you do first, Miss Celeste?”

I turned to him, my eyes sharp and confident. “We will start by claiming what’s mine. The ex-husband, the company, and every opportunity they thought they could control… it all belongs to me now.”

Bean nodded. “Very well. Shall we proceed?”

“Yes,” I said, my voice steady, final. “Let’s proceed. Everything we’ve waited for… begins now.”

And in that moment, as the lights of my office reflected off the polished floors, I felt it. The chains of the past, the pain, the waiting… all of it was gone. I was no longer just Celeste Avery , the quiet, patient wife who had signed the divorce papers. I was Celeste Kingsley, the heiress, the investor, and the woman no one could ignore.

The world had no idea what was coming.

  • Good-For-Nothing Husband   Nicholas’s Uneasy Silence

Chapter Seven – Nicholas’s Uneasy Silence (Nicholas POV) I stood frozen near the boutique, holding Isabella’s hand, but my mind wasn’t on her. Every sound, every movement around me seemed distant. All I could think about was Celeste. Why… why would Isabella suddenly have her arrested? Even though I knew I shouldn’t interfere — even though deep down I had promised myself to support Isabella for the next year — a part of me ached. A part of me wanted to run to Celeste, to stop this madness. I hated that I couldn’t. My pride, my plan, the promise to Isabella — all of it stopped me. But my stomach tightened with every second that went by. Something inside me screamed that this wasn’t right. I watched the officers lead her away, her calm face unreadable. She didn’t panic. She didn’t cry. Not even a flicker of fear. That calm… it was unnerving. Then I heard murmurs in the crowd. Flashing cameras. Whispers spreading faster than wildfire. And then… I saw them. Isabella’s parents. The

Chapter Six – Collision at the Mall (Celeste POV) The mall was bustling, full of weekend shoppers, the smell of fresh coffee and luxury perfume mixing in the air. I walked through the main corridor with Bean by my side, calm and collected. My heels clicked on the marble floor as I glanced at the high-end stores, casually pretending to browse. But then… I saw him. Nicholas. And not just Nicholas — Nicholas with Isabella, holding her hand, laughing softly, looking completely at ease. My stomach twisted. For a moment, I thought about turning around and leaving, slipping quietly back into the shadows. But it was too late. He had already seen me. His eyes widened, and that familiar, complicated look — the one that used to haunt my dreams — flickered across his face. He started walking toward me, his expression a mixture of surprise, confusion, and something darker I couldn’t name. “You…” he said, stopping just a few steps away. “It’s just a few days after our divorce… and you’re alr

Chapter Five – Nicholas’s Conflicted Heart (Nicholas’s POV) The marriage certificate felt heavy in my hands, heavier than I had expected. I sat at the small desk in Isabella’s hospital room, staring at the crisp paper. This was it. Proof that I had done what I needed to do. That I was finally fulfilling Isabella’s last wish. And yet… my mind kept wandering. Celeste. Even after all this — after the divorce, after she had calmly signed the papers without a single tear, without a single word of begging — I couldn’t stop thinking about her. That calmness, that control… it haunted me. I could still see her face in my mind, the way she had handed me the papers, eyes steady, almost defiant. Why did she not fight? I wondered. Or was this her way of fighting? I exhaled slowly and reached for my phone. I had to know where she was, what she was doing. Maybe just to hear her voice would calm this restless tension gnawing at me. I dialed her number quickly, hoping for a simple answer. But no

  • Good-For-Nothing Husband   Nicholas’s Shock

Chapter Three – Nicholas’s Shock (Nicholas’s POV) I had expected drama. Tears, pleading, maybe even anger. Anything but calm. But when Celeste signed the papers without a single word, I froze. My mind couldn’t process it. She didn’t yell, didn’t cry, didn’t try to fight me. She just… signed it. Smoothly, carefully, almost… deliberately. I rubbed my face, trying to calm the shock. My pride stung. I had imagined her falling apart, begging me to stay, proving to me how much she loved me. But she hadn’t. Nothing. Just a quiet submission that didn’t feel like submission at all. “Isn’t that what I wanted?” I muttered to myself, trying to rationalize it. “Fine. Let me grant Isabella her last wish. Then I can come back to her. After she’s gone, everything will be perfect again.” That thought calmed me slightly. If I married Isabella, I could do right by her and, in return, become the son-in-law of the wealthiest CEO in the country. Everything I had been planning… it was still possible.

  • Good-For-Nothing Husband   The Night I Finally Broke

Chapter Two – The Night I Finally Broke (Celeste’s POV) The papers shook in my hand, but I didn’t let them fall. For a long time, I just stood there, staring at the words printed in black. Divorce Agreement. I wanted to cry. I knows I did. But the tears refused to come. My chest felt tight, my throat dry. It was as if my body had forgotten how to feel. I slowly raised my head and looked at Nicholas. He stood there like a stranger — expressionless, detached, as if he’d just handed me a delivery, not the end of our marriage. “Celeste,” he said quietly, “don’t make this harder than it already is.” I almost laughed. Harder? What could possibly be harder than being replaced by a ghost of his past? I swallowed the bitterness burning my throat. “Do you have a pen?” He frowned. “What?” “I said, do you have a pen?” He hesitated for a moment, then reached into his pocket and handed one to me. His hand brushed mine briefly — that familiar warmth that used to mean somet
