Garrett looked over at Jade, she stared out the window. Her hands made fists, and her body told him she was scared. He took a breath and brought his attention back to the road. Jade thought about what she had just witnessed, her life as a mortal made it hard to be close to her family even though they have been trying to make things work. She thought about running away from Garrett and Dani just to keep them safe, but she knew they wouldn’t stop looking for her until they found her.
Jade watched the cars pass as they drove away from the town, she didn’t want to leave but they would stop at nothing to kill everyone that meant something to her or that would protect her. Morning fog settled over the mountains, Garrett and Dani headed back to the castle. Garrett smelled the air before speaking. “Something isn't right!” He demanded. “What, what is wrong?” Dani said shaking her head, she didn’t feel any different. “I smell something wrong, let’s get back.” The two of them ran as fast as they could to the castle.
