Chapter R06

"Remember the days when we used to row?"

Henry asked in a tone blooming of faint excitement as we walked side by side across the lake. I simply nodded as I stared across the waters reflecting the clouds' evening shade. It was gentle as always, with the ducks paddling peacefully and the air silent and warm. It reminded me of old memories and rather than smile, sadness dawned in me again.

"We were bad at it compared to Martha..." He continued.

"She was a monster at it and no matter how we tried, even when we cheated, she remained the best." We both chuckled reminiscing on good old times. Times when we were naive and free of life's ugly fate.

"I wonder where she is now..." He mumbled with a light sigh following suit and my tiny smile gradually faded. I suddenly lost the interest to walk and rather stare at the ducks paddling.

"She's happy." I mumbled in a weak tone. "With her mate somewhere."

"But you don't seem happy about it." He noted.

"I don't like that look on your face." He respond
