The Heartbreak

Rowena

The next day, I woke super early, even though the sun wasn't up yet, I went to lie under the big oak tree behind our house, watching the sky. It reminded me of the old days when I met Alpha Jaden, we were just kids. I just found the tree. All I wanted to do that day was lie there and cry my eyes out, but the cute little boy came around the tree and talked to me.

Since that day that's where we have always come to meet each other and that's where he made the promise to make me his Luna once he comes back, Now this day is coming Im scared and excited all at once, can't wait to see the look on on my family faces when he present me at his Luna, as the sky was getting clear I got up to walk back to the house and make breakfast.

As I got to the door, I heard a giggle. It wasn't much, but it was enough for me to listen to it.

Must of us have a sensitive hearing but mine is over sensitive I could hear things for miles and miles, I learn at a very young age to control it or I would spend days with headaches by hearing everything and everyone's thoughts, Quietly I made my way in the back to find Mira and some guys being all mushy over each other, his arms around her waist while she was on tiptoe kissing him.

Eww, and she wants Alpha Jaden to make her Luna of this pack, hell no, grabbing the phone that I barely use and starts taking pictures hoping that they would stop kissing, so I could get a good look at the guy, after a few minutes of waiting and nothing I was about to leave when they finally pull away from each other to get air, I almost lost my balance when I saw who it was.

“ No, it can't be, “ I whisper to myself before I look around the corner again to confirm my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. “ He wasn't supposed to be home for another day. Why is he kissing Mira?”

“ Alpha Jaden, when are we doing the ceremony?” She asked him in that annoying voice that I hate.

Pushing her hair off her shoulder, he kissed her neck and said, “ Patience, my love, we need the contract to be signed first.”

Not satisfied, she pouted at him, “ What does that have to do with our mating ceremony? Whether Rowena wants to or not, she will be sent to the Golden Pack.”

I can't believe what I'm hearing; everyone around me was onto the plan of sending me instead of Mira. I was the fool to think that no one knew.

“ You know your sister better than I do; she might do something unexpected, and if that happened, we don't need anything else to stop us from having control over her,” He explained to her.

His words pierced my heart like a dagger had just hit me; I couldn't believe I was hearing this right now. Did the person I have been waiting for all these years not feel the same way I do? Was I being a fool all these years?

Tired of hiding being in the house, I step out and say, “ Alpha Jaden?” It's almost come out as a whisper.

Shock and surprise cross their faces, then they startle, moving away from each other. It's too late for all that I already saw and heard, most of it.

“ Ro-Rowena, what are you doing here?” He asked once he had composed himself.

“It's my house where else should I be?, when did you get back?” I tried to touch his arm, but he moved away at the last moment. I was still in the little bubble that I created, where he was coming to save me. That move alone has me second.

“ Uhm, I came to see your f-” He started to say, but Mira cut him off by saying, “ He came to see me, why are you out here? Go make breakfast,” She ordered me.

Still not moving or breaking eye contact with him, “ Why would you come see her? What's going on?”

Again, Mira was the one who answered, “ He doesn't own expl-” I slapped her. When it happened, I don't know. All I wanted her to do was to be quiet.

She turned her head and looked at me with so much rage that I thought she would end me right here, right there. Instead, Alpha Jaden was the one who slapped me. “ How dare you put your hands on your future, Luna!” He yelled with so much hate.

His words echo in my ears while tears gather in my eyes, ready to fall at any moment. “ What?! , No, Jaden, you promise me that I'll be your Luna,” I say to him.

His cold laughter sends a shiver down my spine. “ You! My Luna NEVER!!” He moved closer to me, pinning me to the back of the house, he continue with the insult “ That was never going to happen, you were always gonna go to the Golden pack with me manipulating you, that's why I became your friend, meeting you under that tree wasn't an accident”

Each words push the dagger deeper in my heart, leaving me broken from the inside and out. “ Why?” I find myself asking them, looking at Mira and saying, “I'm your sister, I never did anything to hurt you, WHY?!”

Laughing, they both laughed as if I had told a joke, then they got serious.

Mira leans on Alpha Jaden's shoulder and says, “ It wasn't planned the first time I did it was because I like your toy and I asked for it, but then it dawned on me that I could get anything I want from you as long as I told our parents.”

Rage feel me and I lunge myself at her, I might not have my wolf but I have claws, I was scratching everywhere I could get my hands on while yelling “ This is a JOKE TO YOU? MY LIFE IS NOT A JOKE!” wrapping my hand around her neck i squeeze as hard as i could “ They are our parents why did you do it?”

“ No, they are not!” I heard Jaden say with rage from behind us while he pulled me off Mira, his words caught me off guard, which made it easy for him to move me.

“Wh-what did you just say?” I stumbled back.

“ They are not your parents, you are just an orphan! “ Mira yelled back at me once she was back on her feet.

I don't believe this “ No, no it's not true, YOU LYING!”

Jaden slapped me. “She's not lying, they are not your parents, but your uncle and aunt, your father's mate to some woman, then he left the pac,k nobody heard from them until they were killed and you came to leave with your aunt and uncle”

I don't want to listen anymore so I ran, ran and ran away from their lies, they want to justify how they've been playing me for a fool so now they are lying, it's all lies, I can't believe anything they are saying. When I finally come to a stop it was right under the oak tree the place that hold so many memories, memories that now I wish I could erase, I lay there and cried my eyes out, maybe that would ease the pain.

  • Groom Switch (Twin Prophecy book 1)   The Tunnels

Lukan I've been up since dawn looking down at those maps, checking every picture that was taken in the tunnel, and nothing makes sense, nothing jumps out to me, and the news that they already got another land to contain their dirty work didn't go well with me. I had to call on some of the guys while keeping others in the dark as I came up with a plan to check the tunnel farther along. When Rich and Dane walked in, their eyes went immediately to the maps lying on the table. I stood over the table, both hands braced against the surface, and I waited for them to take their seats. “You being here doesn't mean your punishment is over,” I made clear to him. Rich bows his head. “ I know, Alpha.” Good. “I have a crazy idea that I know only the two of you will be able to help with,” I say, pushing the maps and pictures towards them to check. “ What do you want from us, Alpha?” Rich asks, ready or do whatever it is to get over his probation?” I explained the plan and everyt

  • Groom Switch (Twin Prophecy book 1)   Too Quiet

Rowena Quiet was supposed to feel like relief. Instead, it pressed against my skin like the heavy air before a storm. I rolled the pen between my fingers, tapping it once more against my cheek as the same thought looped relentlessly through my mind. The Council didn’t seize land without a reason. Not prime territory bordering Alpha Zane’s pack. Not land that once hid a tunnel tied to a rogue leader who vanished like smoke. Too clean. Too deliberate. The memory of that night crawled back in sharp fragments, the four of us slipping onto the property under the cover of darkness, the way the earth itself seemed wrong beneath our feet. We searched longer than we should have, every minute a risk, yet there was nothing. No entrance. No false wall. No disturbed ground. Just absence. And yet. I could still smell it. Old wolf. Not fresh. Not living. The kind of scent that clings to stone long after blood and breath are gone. Time-worn. Intentional. Covered, but not erased. Which meant

  • Groom Switch (Twin Prophecy book 1)   Alpha Meeting

Lukan Days later, the boardroom at the Ravencliff pack was buzzing with chitchat as the Alphas gathered around the table. Some had confusion on their faces, while others were just curious and worried about what the news would do to their packs. With everyone seated, Alpha Harris broke the silence: “Although this meeting is happening on my territory, I did not call it; which one of you did?” I saw Alpha Robert stand up and move to the front of the table. “ I called this meeting, thank you for coming, gentlemen, and we all know the reason why.” As I looked around the table, I thought, “You of all people know the real reason.” “ We need answers. Is the Council really involved in this matter? Is this a threat against our packs?” Alpha Leo from Storm's Pack questions. I leaned back in my chair, steepling my fingers. Let them squirm. Let them whisper. I would let the council’s own fear do my work before I even spoke. “We’ve all heard the rumors,” I began, my voice smooth, mea

  • Groom Switch (Twin Prophecy book 1)   Admitting

Rowena The days have been draining. Getting rid of the Silvermoon was a huge success; even with Jaden and Mira on the run, we still took away the Council, one of the most important allies, which would be a massive loss to them. I hope that would put a stop to whatever is being planned, but this is all wishful thinking. I pulled on a pair of blue yoga pants and the same fitted top, twisting my hair into a messy ponytail before heading down the hall toward the training room. The air shifted the moment I stepped inside. Lukan was already there, waiting. He stood near the center of the room, sleeves rolled up, muscles taut as if he’d been preparing longer than necessary. His gaze lifted the instant he sensed me, sharp. The bond hummed quietly between us, awareness tightening the space. “Today we work on our powers; it's time we figure this out,” he said. “Good,” I say, “I'm tired of hiding while they're showing off.” “Let's do this!” He yelled, standing across me on the ma

  • Groom Switch (Twin Prophecy book 1)   Anonymously

Lukan Days later We couldn’t find anything. Whatever had been stored in the tunnel, the place where we’d seen the rogue leader hiding, was gone and stripped clean. No scent, no markings, no trace left behind. Whoever cleared it out knew exactly what they were doing and had the time to do it thoroughly. I stood in front of the window, hands buried deep in my pockets, staring out without really seeing anything. My thoughts circled back to Alpha Jaden and Luna Mira, still missing, still ghosts slipping through every lead we chased. They were alive. I knew it. And I knew who was sheltering them. Alpha Robert. The council would never step forward and publicly claim them without raising questions they weren’t ready to answer. But Alpha Robert didn’t care about appearances. He never had. He was the only one I knew who would help them directly, quietly, and without hesitation. He makes it seem as if he isn't still grieving, still carrying hate deep in his heart. When one loo

  • Groom Switch (Twin Prophecy book 1)   Silvermoon Fallen

RowenaBy dawn, Lukan and I marched up to the Silvermoon gate. We burst it open, Lukan dressed as one of the warriors to keep suspicion since we now know they are mistaken Lucian for Lukan, and during our search, we found two scents: one from Silvermoon, the other from Loha Robert. These two dare come onto my property and take my people. Leaving Lukan and the warriors to take care of themselves, I had other business to attend to. I found out some stuff about my parents' death that I needed to confront my uncle about, and I knew exactly where to find him. I storm into the study, my footsteps echo through the room, my uncle looks up, startled, but he remains behind the desk.“ You know why I'm here, don't you?” I asked him. I stood behind Drake, who was sitting in my chair. I've been looking for him since I saw him in the hallway with the little boy. They heard the chaos going on outside. Drake tried to get up, but I pushed him back down on the chair. “ What the hell is going on? Wha
