THIRTEEN YEARS AGO

"Get the rhythm! Don't let your guard down, Erika!.”King Kellar's shout made a small Axe jump instead and he looked up to find his father's serious face and hard voice looking down at Erika barely entering her teens; he looked like he was about to start crying.

Ax rested his arms on the edge of the boards that separated the stables and artillery barracks from the training wing, a huge circle of sand where royal guards and army enlisted men practiced, his lips tightening as his father yelled again.

"I have told you a thousand times not to hesitate to attack!," his sister trembled and almost dropped the sword held by her small hands, Ax almost felt pity.

Erika is thirteen and he is ten, but even with the age difference, and the fact that Erika had the older sister role, it seemed like Axe always looked out for her.
