第1話

Chapter 1 - Andora

딸은 고통스러운 듯 가슴께를 잡고 바닥에 주저앉았다. 작은 얼굴은 이미 시퍼렇게 질려 있었다.

비행기 안 여기저기서 비명이 터져 나오더니 사람들이 내 딸을 둘러쌌다.

내 목소리는 떨리고 있었지만 관제탑 쪽에서 내 남편, 진태성의 냉소가 흘러나왔다.

“헛소리 그만해. 그냥 가벼운 심장 질환이잖아. 이 기회에 먼저 착륙하려는 거 아니야! 본인 하나 살겠다고, 수백 명의 사람 목숨은 장난 같아? 당신 진짜 역겹다.”

그 말을 들은 순간 내 심장은 나락으로 떨어지는 기분이었다.

보아하니 진태성도 회귀했나 보다.

전생에 불길 속에서 타죽던 기억이 아직도 몸에 남아 있는 듯했다.

영혼 깊은 곳에서부터 번지는 고통에 나는 무거운 숨을 내뱉었다.

나는 비행기를 조종하며 말했다.

“진태성, 당신은 딸 병세도 잘 모르잖아. 그러면서 어떻게 그런 말을 할 수 있어? 우리 딸이 정말...”

치지직 하는 전파 소리가 들리며 신호가 흐트러지더니 진태성은 아예 나와 관제탑의 연락을 끊어 버렸다.

부기장은 다급하게 나를 불렀다.

“기장님, 하영이가 안 될 것 같아요...”

귀를 파고드는 딸의 고통스러운 숨소리에 나는 부들거리는 손으로 다시 관제탑과 연락을 취했다.

하지만 반대편에서 다른 동료의 짜증 섞인 목소리가 들려왔다.

“정 기장님, 말씀 다 들었습니다. 폭풍우 때문에 시간을 앞당겨 착륙하려는 거잖아요? 아무리 그래도 그렇지, 어떻게 딸이 죽는다는 거짓말을 할 수 있어요? 모든 건 규정대로 해야 하니까 더 이상 부탁하지 마세요.”

그 사이, 진태성이 안도하는 목소리가 살짝 들려왔다.

“KR1876 성공적으로 착륙했대. 이제 됐어!”

KR1876는 바로 진태성의 첫사랑 임정안이 탄 비행기다.

그러자 동료가 이내 물었다.

“그럼 정 기장님 착륙하라고 할까요? 이제 정 기장님 순서도 됐어요.”

하지만 진태성이 흥 콧방귀를 뀌며 귀찮은 듯 말했다.

“기다리라고 해! 백을 이용해 순서 새치기하려고 했으니 새치기당하는 기분이 어떤지 본인도 느껴봐야지!”

그 말을 끝으로 동료가 연락을 끊어버렸다.

그와 동시에 딸이 살 수 있는 유일한 희망도 꺼저벼렀다.

부기장은 딸이 고통스러워하며 내 이름을 부른다며 내 자리를 대신했다.

그 잠깐 사이 나는 몸을 던지며 딸에게로 달려갔다.

“엄마, 미안해요...”

새파랗게 질린 딸의 입술이 씁쓸한 미소를 그려냈다.

“다시 시작했는데도 여기까지 밖에 엄마랑 함께할 수 없네요...”

딸이 눈이 천천히 감기더니 팔이 툭 하고 떨어졌다.

나는 처량한 비명을 지르며 분노에 몸서리쳤다.

그런데 하필 그때, 부기장의 당황한 듯한 목소리가 들려왔다.

“기장님, 앞쪽에 천둥번개가 치는 것 같아요!”

나에게는 더 슬퍼할 시간도 없었다.

전생에 임정안이 앉았던 비행기가 당했던 사고를 지금 내가 직면하고 있었으니까.

지금 급선무는 슬픔에 잠겨 있는 게 아니라 이 비행기에 앉은 삼백 몇 명을 데리고 안전하게 착륙하는 거였다.

I really enjoyed this series. Many books on this platform have similar stories, which gets boring really fast. This book series kept me entertained the whole time. It had the perfect balance of romance and action. I enjoyed getting to know each character in more detail as each book was added.

Chapter 1 - Andora
HUNJI Day 3 of the quest I had been given by our Queen, Lamia: To find the witch Morgan, Finnegan’s sister, and bring her home. I was already a day behind, the truck I had been given by the now Alpha Jasper of Bhakhil, broke down yesterday morning. Causing me to run in wolf form, find a cave in the foothills of the Andora mountain range and rest for the night. At first light I shifted into my wolf, letting Ruda lead the way, once again. Some hours later, well into the late afternoon, we had made our way to the first city, only a couple of hundred miles outside the capital where the Megaron was situated in Bozgvol. I shifted back into my human form behind a house on the outskirts and threw on the loose pair of pants I had stuffed in my backpack, fastening the retractable vest that held my swords.
