Wagered To The Cold Hearted Alpha King

Zoey’s POV

As I made my way towards his room, my heart raced with a mix of anticipation and fear. The tension in my body was palpable, each step feeling heavier than the last. I knew that what I was about to do was risky, but I couldn't deny the truth any longer. I had to tell him—I had to reveal that I was his second chance mate and that I had fallen deeply in love with him.

I knew he had warned me, warned me not to fall in love with him. He had told me that I was just a toy to him and he only wanted me to warm his bed, but I couldn't help it. I couldn't help falling for him.

With a deep breath, I held the doorknob and pushed it open, then stepped in. But what I saw shattered my heart. In the bed was Alpha Ethan, kissing Christabel. As if he noticed my presence, he quickly pulled away from the kiss and left the bed.

"Zoey," he called out to me, but I ran out of the room. "Listen," he called and ran after me, catching up with me.

"How could you, Alpha Ethan? How could you do this to me?" I yelled and saw anger fill his face.

"How dare you, Alpha Ethan? How dare you cheat on me?" I yelled in pain and saw him grunt in anger.

"Cheat on you?" he asked with a bitter scoff. "In case you've forgotten, let me refresh your memory. You are a toy wagered to me by your silly father. Your duty is to warm my bed and give me an heir, which you have failed to do for the past four months." He spat on my face, causing my wolf to whine in pain.

These words weren't new to me. I received them almost all the time from him, but this time it hurt even more. It wasn't just my heart that clenched, but my wolf too.

"Alpha…" I stammered in pain, but he cut me off. "Enough. I don't want to hear it, Zoey. It seems to me that you have forgotten your place, Zoey." He yelled, shattering my heart into pieces. "Just because I have given you a little attention doesn't mean you should forget your place." He spat while holding my gaze with anger and hate.

With a gulp, I opened my mouth to speak. "Apologies, Alpha. I have forgotten my place. I'm just a mere toy to you, wagered to you by my father." I cried and ran away, and he didn't bother coming after me.

With my heart clenching with pain, I ran into the garden and cried out in misery. I was crying and my wolf, Nora, was silent, but I knew she was also in pain.

I thought he was having feelings for me.

I thought he no longer saw me as a sex toy.

But I was wrong. He is the cold-hearted Alpha Ethan and will always be one.

I heard footsteps behind me, and quickly turned to see if it was Alpha Ethan, but it wasn't him. Instead, it was his cousin Liam.

A frown appeared on my face as he squatted before me with a victorious grin on his face.

"I told you that Ethan will never see you beyond a toy," he mocked, while I looked away, ignoring his words.

"Accept my proposal and be with me. I promise to treat you better than him," he spoke, but I scoffed with anger and faced him.

"Really?" I asked with a bitter chuckle. "Wasn't that the same thing you told Anita, Alpha Ethan's first mate?" I asked, and he couldn't give a response.

"You deceived her and lured her into your arms, and now that you are done with her, you are back to get your next prey," I yelled and saw a big frown on his face. "Not me, it can never be me. Instead of falling into your arms, I'd rather die," I declared those words as a vow and saw anger consumed his face.

With an angry grunt, he stood up and held my gaze with anger. "Then I'll make sure you die," he declared those words as a promise and walked away.

Ignoring his threats, I continued sobbing, feeling my heart shattering into pieces. Alpha Ethan's hurtful words kept buzzing in my head, causing pain to envelope my entire being.

“Zoey," Charity, a maid assigned to me by Alpha Ethan, walked up to me with a glass of water. "Please pull yourself together. I have been watching you crying for a long time." She pleaded, handing the glass of water to me, which I instantly took and gulped down. "Stop crying and go to bed. It's already late." She flashed me an uneasy smile, which I couldn't understand, before leaving.

With a heavy sigh, I collapsed on the floor in the garden and continued sobbing. Tears streamed down my cheeks, and no matter how hard I tried to stop them, they kept falling.

In the midst of my pain, I realized my eyes became blurred, my throat became dry, and before I could process what was happening, I fell to the ground and lost consciousness.

I struggled to open my eyes, feeling groggy and weighed down. It took me a moment to register that I was lying on a soft, comfortable bed. As I tried to move, I felt a stronger body holding me down, making it impossible for me to shout out.

The scent of the figure next to me was intoxicating yet so different from Alpha Ethan's, and even with my eyes closed, I knew that this person was a stranger. Summoning all my strength, I forced my eyes open, only to see the ceiling above me.

Straining my neck, I turned my head to see who was lying beside me, and to my horror, it was none other than Liam, Alpha Ethan's cousin. This couldn't be happening. Why was I in his bed?

Before I could speak, the door opened and Alpha Ethan barged into the room, his eyes meeting mine.

"Alpha…"

“You!" He yelled through gritted teeth and rushed towards Liam, yanked him out of the bed, and slammed his back against the wall. "How dare you? How dare you touch her?" Alpha Ethan yelled and threw a punch at Liam. I saw Liam wipe off the blood coming from the cut caused by Alpha Ethan's punch.

"It's not my fault that your women keep wanting me," he said with a smirk, while I shook my head, dumbfounded by his words. What was he saying? I couldn't even remember how I got here.

Confused, I stumbled out of the bed but realized I was naked. "Goddess!" I exclaimed in panic and covered myself with a blanket, but it was already too late—Alpha Ethan had already seen me.

With tear-filled eyes, I held his gaze and saw a myriad of emotions in them—pain, anger, and rage. "Please..." I tried to speak, but he shook his head in anger and stormed out of the room. "Alpha..." I called out and rushed out of the bed.

Quickly, I looked for my clothes and saw them scattered on the floor. I hurriedly got dressed and turned to Liam, who had a victorious grin on his face. "What did you do to me?" I asked. "How did I get here?" I questioned. He smirked and walked closer to me.

"I told you that I would make you leave this mansion. You refused to give yourself to me, and now this is the consequence," he spoke with a victorious laugh. But I didn't stand there to exchange words with him. Instead, I rushed out of the room in search of one person—Alpha Ethan.

I searched different rooms, looking for him, until I finally found him in his office, his back turned against me. With a gulp, I tried to get closer, but his next words stopped me. "Stop! Don't come any closer," he warned furiously, causing fear to envelop my entire being. "I swear on my mother's grave that I would kill you if you take a step closer to me," he yelled, while tears streamed down my cheeks. But I managed to speak.

"Please listen to me, let me explain," I pleaded and heard him grunt in anger before turning to face me. "Mine," my wolf, Nora, howled in pain as I held his anger-burning gaze.

"You whore!" he cursed, causing my heart to throb in pain. "Wasn't I good enough for you? Was I unable to satisfy you, you dirty slut?" he cursed, while more tears streamed down my cheeks. "You saw a woman in my bed and decided to seek revenge, huh?" he asked, and I shook my head. "No, it's not what you think. I didn't even know how I ended up in his bed..."

"Liar!" he yelled, rushed to me, and grabbed me by the neck. "How dare you? How dare you do it?" he yelled furiously, tightening his grip on my neck, almost choking me to death. "Alpha..." I tried to speak while holding his hands, tears filling my eyes. I was almost passing out when he let go of me, and I fell to the ground.

I saw him grunting in anger and kicking the table with his legs. He was burning with rage, while I just remained on the floor, trying to catch my breath.

"You are a slut, a whore,” he cursed, but I shook my head and crawled towards him on my knees. "Please listen to me. I was framed..." I attempted to speak, but he yanked me from the floor by the shoulder and glared into my eyes with anger and hate.

“I hate you, Zoey. I hate you with every fiber of my being," he yelled and pushed me away. "Leave, Zoey! Get out of this room!" he yelled, fuming with anger.

With tears streaming down my cheeks, I tried to make my way to him, but he gestured for me to stop with his hands.

"Get out of my sight, you shameless slut," he spat in my face, causing my wolf to whine in pain.

Comments like this weren't new to me. I received them almost all the time, but this time it hurt even more. It wasn't just my heart that clenched, but my wolf too.

With a heavy heart, I ran out of the room, tears streaming down my cheeks. As I passed the servants, I could feel their eyes on me. Some glanced at me with curiosity, some with pity, and a few had a satisfied look on their faces. When I reached the sitting room, I met Christabel, whose expressions showed that she was enjoying my suffering, finding entertainment in my predicament.

Anger welled up inside me, fueled by the betrayal and humiliation I had just witnessed.

I walked up to Christabel, my face contorted with anger and pain, and stood before her. "You were supposed to be my friend," I said through gritted teeth, struggling to hold back my emotions. "You told me we were friends. So, how could you do this to me?"

If I didn’t see her in bed with Alpha Ethan then all this wouldn’t have happened .

Christabel responded with folded arms, an air of defiance surrounding her. "And what did I do?" she retorted, her voice laced with arrogance. "Alpha Ethan called me into his bed, asking me to satisfy him in ways you couldn't. You barren whore!" Her words pierced through me like a thousand knives, but I managed to restrain myself from physically attacking her.

The anger within me intensified, but so did the realization of my precarious position. "If I were you," Christabel sneered, "I would just leave and never show my face again. You know how much Alpha Ethan despises betrayal. You should consider yourself lucky that you haven't been beheaded yet."

Her cruel words struck me deeply, causing more tears to fall down my cheeks. I felt a mixture of pain, anger, and helplessness.

As I held her gaze, she flashed me a victorious smile, which added to my humiliation and made me feel like an outcast, a target for ridicule.

Consumed by pain, I ran out of the mansion and continued running with no particular destination in mind. Tears streamed down my face as his words kept replaying in my head,causing my wolf Nora to howled in pain. I continued running untill I snapped out of my thoughts and realized I was in a dense forest, completely unaware of how or when I had arrived there.

With my heart clenching with pain, I continued running. My legs were aching, but it couldn’t be compared to the pain I felt in my heart.

First, I saw him in the bed with Christabel, and if that was not enough, he called me a cheap slut and whore. My mate doesn’t recognize me but rather he sees me as nothing but a wagered whore.

Consumed with pain , I ran until I stopped before a cliff. Gasping for breath, I peered over the edge to see the ocean below.

Sucking a deep breath, I closed my eyes, while Alpha Ethan’s words buzzed in my head, causing my heart to shatter. Mixed emotions consumed my being. I have been with Alpha Ethan for more than three months, and everything about me yearned for him. I can’t see myself living without him. I can’t live, knowing that he sees me as a cheap slut. So, with a deep breath, I made a decision, suicide.

“Forgive me, Moon Goddess.” I whispered a silent prayer and stepped forward with panting breath.

“Stop!” I heard a voice behind me. I turned and saw a man, a stranger, standing steps away from me. His eyes were filled with worry and concern, but I didn’t let that stop me. I was already fed up with living.

“What are you trying to do?” He questioned, but I didn’t give a response. Rather, I closed my eyes and jumped off the cliff, hoping that when I opened my eyes, I would be waking up in the bosom of the Moon Goddess.
