Churned

I wasn’t thinking straight as we crossed the road to Francis' house. I can't forget what Lideon said because I know he will do everything he said if I did that. I know that.

"How are you feeling?" Nathan asked while watching me from the rear mirror.

I became nervous again with his question. And as we got closer, my chest gradually tightened. I cleared my throat and looked away.

"I-I’m fine," I lied.

"You know you're a terrible liar," Julienne softly whispered next to me.

I was sitting between Julienne and Avery while Nathan was alone in the front and was the one driving. I don't know how they knew the village where Lideon's house was. I was surprised when they were already in front of the village gate when I got out.

Avery gently grabbed my arm making me turn to face her.

"We know you're not okay. You don't need to pretend in front of us."
