LOGINI stayed locked in the room until the house went completely quiet.
No more footsteps. No more low voice on the other side of the door. Just the hum of the air conditioner and the sound of my own pulse in my ears. Every time I closed my eyes I saw it again — my mom bent over the kitchen island, Elias behind her, the same hands that had been on me that morning gripping her hips instead.
I hated how much it still turned me on.
That was the worst part.
When I finally unlocked the door it was past midnight. The hallway was dark. His bedroom door was half open, light spilling out in a thin line. I stood there for a long time before I pushed it open.
He was sitting on the edge of the bed in just his sweatpants, elbows on his knees, head down. He looked up when I stepped inside. His face was unreadable, but his eyes weren’t.
“Riley—”
“Don’t.” My voice came out flat. “Don’t say it didn’t mean anything. I watched you.”
He exhaled slowly and sat up straighter. “She came onto me.”
“And you just went with it.”
“Yes.”
The honesty hit harder than a lie would have. I laughed once, sharp and ugly, and crossed my arms like it might hold the anger in.
“You fucked my mother on the same counter you fucked me on. And now you’re sitting here like we’re going to talk it out.”
He stood up. Slow. Careful. Like I might bolt. “You want me to lie and say I regret it?”
“I want you to stop looking at me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like you still want me.”
He closed the distance between us in two steps. I didn’t move back. His hand came up like he was going to touch my face and then stopped short, hovering.
“I do still want you,” he said quietly. “That didn’t change.”
“It should have.”
“It didn’t.”
The silence stretched. My chest felt too tight. I could smell his skin — soap and the faint trace of whatever cologne he’d worn earlier. The same scent that had been on my mom when she left.
“You’re disgusting,” I whispered.
“I know.”
“So am I.”
Something dark moved behind his eyes. He finally touched me — just his thumb brushing the edge of my jaw. I should have slapped his hand away. Instead I leaned into it like a traitor.
“You’re angry,” he said.
“No shit.”
“Then use it.”
He kissed me before I could answer. It wasn’t soft. It was messy and teeth and the kind of heat that came from wanting to hurt each other a little. I shoved at his chest and he caught my wrists, pinning them against the door. His mouth moved to my neck, biting hard enough to sting.
“Hate me if you want,” he muttered against my skin. “But you’re still wet for me. I can smell it.”
I hated that he was right.
He spun me around, pushed my chest against the door, and yanked my sleep shorts down. Two fingers shoved inside me without warning — rough, deep, curling immediately. I choked on a sound and he clapped his other hand over my mouth.
“Quiet,” he said against my ear. “Chloe’s still in this house.”
He fucked me with his fingers hard and fast, the wet sound of it filthy in the quiet room. I came quick and angry, shaking against the door, eyes burning. He pulled his fingers out, spun me back around, and shoved them into my mouth.
“Taste what I do to you,” he said. “Even when you hate me.”
I bit down. He didn’t flinch.
Then he stepped back, chest rising hard, and just looked at me — shorts around my thighs, face flushed, fury and want all tangled up.
“I’m not going to fuck you tonight,” he said. His voice was rough. “Not like this. Not when you’re still seeing her every time you look at me.”
I stared at him, breathing hard.
“Get out,” I said.
He didn’t argue. Just watched me pull my shorts back up with shaking hands, then stepped aside so I could leave.
I walked back to the guest room on unsteady legs and locked the door again.
This time he didn’t follow.
I sat on the edge of the bed with the taste of myself still on my tongue and the image of my mother burned behind my eyes, angrier and wetter than I’d ever been in my life.
I woke before him.Gray light was leaking around the curtains. His arm was still heavy across my waist, his breath steady against the back of my neck. For a few minutes I just lay there, cataloguing the aches — the dull soreness between my thighs, the faint bruise-tenderness on my wrists where he’d pinned them, the leftover heat in my face from everything I’d admitted the night before.I’d told him.And he was still here. That fact sat in my chest in a complicated way. Not relief exactly. Not safety either. Something closer to the feeling of standing on a ledge and realizing the drop hadn’t taken me after all.He stirred behind me. His hand flexed once on my stomach, then slid up to rest between my breasts.“You’re awake,” he said, voice rough with sleep.“Yeah.”“How long.”“A few minutes.”He made a low sound and pulled me more firmly against him. I felt him hardening slowly against the curve of my ass. Neither of us moved for a while. The quiet felt different from the night before
Elias’s flight landed at 8:40.I knew because I tracked it. I knew because I’d spent the entire day cleaning an already clean house, changing sheets that didn’t need changing, and rehearsing versions of the truth that all sounded equally bad. By the time the garage door rumbled open at 9:15, my hands were cold and my pulse was doing something uneven in my throat. He walked in with his bag over one shoulder and the tired posture of a man who’d spent two days in meetings. He set the bag down, loosened his tie, and looked at me standing in the kitchen like he’d been counting the hours too.“Hey,” he said.“Hey.”He crossed the space, cupped the back of my neck, and kissed me. Slow. Thorough. The kind of kiss that felt like checking for changes. When he pulled back his eyes searched my face.“You okay?”“Yeah.”He didn’t look convinced. He poured himself a glass of water, drank half of it, and leaned against the counter.“House smells like lemon,” he said.“I cleaned.”“Thoroughly.”I nod
Elias left early for a two-day work trip.He told me the night before, voice even, eyes steady on mine while he packed a small bag. “I’ll be back Thursday night. Don’t do anything you’ll have to confess when I walk through the door.”I nodded. He kissed me hard enough to leave my mouth tingling, then left. The house felt too quiet after the garage door closed.By noon the quiet had turned into restlessness. I told myself I was just bored. That the ache he’d left between my legs the day before was the only reason my skin felt too tight. I lasted until one-thirty before I picked up my phone.Jake answered on the second ring.“Didn’t think I’d hear from you,” he said.“Are you free?”A pause. “When?”“Now. And… I might not be alone.”Another pause, longer. Then a low, interested sound. “Text me the address again.”I did. Then I opened the conversation with Jenna.**Riley:** Are you working today?**Jenna:** Off at two. Why?**Riley:** Come over after. Someone else will be here too.She d
We stayed in bed most of the morning. Not talking much. Not sleeping either. His hand rested on the curve of my hip under the sheet, thumb moving in slow, idle strokes like he was reminding himself I was still there. Every so often I’d feel his eyes on me. When I looked back he didn’t look away.Around eleven he finally spoke.“Get up. Shower. Then come back here.”I did what he said. The shower was quick. I didn’t bother with clothes after. When I walked back into the bedroom he was sitting up against the headboard, sheet pooled around his waist, watching me with that same unreadable focus from earlier.“Come here.”I climbed onto the bed. He caught my wrist before I could settle beside him and pulled me forward until I was straddling his thighs again. His hands slid up my sides, slow, mapping skin he already knew by heart.“Last night I made you wait,” he said. “This morning I made you ask. Now you’re going to show me you meant it.”My pulse kicked. “How?”“You’re going to ride me u
Morning came slow and gray.I hadn’t really slept. The light in the guest room had stayed on all night like a punishment that didn’t need raising its voice. My body felt heavy. My mouth tasted like I’d been clenching my jaw for hours. Somewhere down the hall I heard movement — a drawer, the soft sound of feet on hardwood — then nothing.I got up.I didn’t put on clothes. He’d seen me naked the night before when he sent me up here. Clothes felt like armor I hadn’t earned. I walked down the hallway on bare feet and stopped outside his bedroom. The door was half open. I pushed it the rest of the way.Elias was sitting on the edge of the bed in dark sweatpants, no shirt, elbows on his knees. He looked up when I entered. His expression didn’t soften. It didn’t harden either. He just watched me like he’d been waiting for this exact moment and had already decided how it would go.I closed the door behind me.For a second neither of us spoke. The air between us felt thick enough to choke on.
The house felt different after he left.Bigger. Quieter. Like the walls were listening.I stayed in his bedroom for a long time, sitting on the edge of the bed in my underwear, replaying the look on his face when I said Jenna’s name. Not explosive anger. Something colder. More deliberate. The kind of anger that planned.Eventually I forced myself up. Showered. The hot water did nothing to loosen the knot in my chest. I stood under the spray until my skin turned pink, then got out and stared at myself in the mirror. Same face. Same body. Everything underneath rearranged.I spent the day moving through the house like a guest. Made coffee I didn’t drink. Tried to watch something and failed. Checked the clock every twenty minutes. Chloe texted around noon asking if I wanted to meet her after her shift. I told her I wasn’t feeling well. She sent a sad-face emoji and said she’d bring soup tomorrow. The hours crawled.By four I was restless in a way that felt physical. I cleaned the kitchen
