Genevieve's Point of View

Enzo faced me with a pleading expression.

“Babygirl, can you trust me just this once?” he asked.

“Why can’t he say it in front of me? I want to know who’s after my life,” I argued.

“I will tell you once we get home. I just want to confirm something privately with him,” he explained.

I wanted to argue. I wanted to stay and hear who was intending to kill me, but we’d just talked about trust, and I shouldn’t start doubting him because of this.

“Okay,” I said and went out. I met Cora outside; she rushed after me as I stormed toward the direction of the children’s playground.

Third Person's Point of View

“Speak! Who was it?” Enzo asked after he made sure Genevieve was out of hearing.

“It’s your father, sir.”

Enzo clenched his jaw, his eyes darkened, and the anger brewing in him could set the orphanage ablaze.

“Don’t tell my wife about this, no matter how hard she pressures you!” he said.

“Yes, boss.”

Just as the man was about to leave, Enzo called him back

  • Hated By My Husband, Loved By His Boss (A short story)   Chapter 30

Genevieve's Point of ViewI don't know how Kayla managed to do it, but we successfully slipped past Enzo's men, who were supposed to be guarding the door of my ward. She already had a cab ready, so once we got out of the hospital, we boarded the cab and drove off. We're currently at her place."I can't believe I just did a human heist!" Kayla said immediately after we entered her house."Argh!" I hissed in pain as I slumped on the sofa too hard."Easy, easy," she said, rushing to support me. "The wound on your chest is still fresh," she reminded me.I gasped for air as I tried to catch my breath. I found out later from the doctor's discussions with Enzo during my coma that the bullet had merely missed my heart by an inch."This isn't right. You shouldn't be out of the hospital," Kayla complained. It was obvious she was regretting her decision to help me."I have to leave," I replied. Her brows furrowed as she squinted her eyes."You have to leave?" She shook her head. "Speak. Why did

  • Hated By My Husband, Loved By His Boss (A short story)   Chapter 29

Genevieve's Point of ViewI couldn't move, but I heard everything Enzo's father said. My father was such a heartless monster. I can't believe I was so eager to know someone as malicious as him.Now I understand why Enzo's father was so against my union with his son—anyone in his position would be hostile towards me too.My heart broke when I felt Enzo's grip around my hand loosen. He must hate me now. He must be regretting his decision to marry me."Are you okay, Enzo?" I heard his mother ask, but there was no response from him. Then I heard heavy footsteps walking away from me. That must be Enzo—he stormed away."Ma'am, you have to believe my husband. He did not kill your husband. Yes, it hurt to lose a child, but with me around, he would never come after an innocent person," Enzo's mother said.My mom didn't say anything; she was only crying. I used to be angry at her and blame her for moving on too quickly by marrying my stepfather, but now I see that she only did that to give me a

Third Person's Point of View>Genevieve's Ward—""I SAID LEAVE!" he screamed. "I don't want to see you and your husband here."Mrs. Fabio's eyes watered, but she tried her hardest to hold back her tears. Just when they were about to leave, the door burst open and Mrs. Prudent, Genevieve's mother, rus

Third Person’s Point of ViewEnzo's eyes widened when Genevieve slumped down before him. He reached for the gun in his pocket and shot aimlessly in the shooter's direction. His men surrounded him in an instant, shielding him and firing back, but they were a bit late—the shooter had already shot his leg and arm twice."Keep him alive. I need to know who's behind this!" he ordered his men, then gave his attention back to Genevieve."Babygirl! Babygirl! Can you hear me, babygirl?" he called, shaking her, but she didn't move as her eyes remained tightly shut."Quick, get my wife to the hospital!" he screamed. As if his men wouldn't be fast enough, he scooped Genevieve into his arms and ran toward his car, not minding his wounded arm and leg.> > > > > > > "Doctor! Doctor! Doctor!" Enzo screamed like a madman the moment he arrived at the hospital.Upon seeing him covered in blood, with Genevieve lying limp in his arms, two nurses and a doctor rushed to him with a stretcher."Lay her here,

  • Hated By My Husband, Loved By His Boss (A short story)   Chapter 26

Genevieve's Point of ViewEnzo cried for a while. I let him cry to his heart’s content, and when he’s had enough, we sat in a moment of silence."Are you okay?" I asked, breaking the silence."Yeah.""You can stop. You don't have to tell me everything," I told him, but he shook his head in disagreement."I have decided to tell you everything about it, and I must tell you."He cleared his throat, then continued his story."It was later found out that a Mafia member was behind the accident. It took a long time, but my father eventually hunted him down and killed him," he said.I tensed instantly. My biological father was also a Mafia member. Could it be the one? Could this be the reason behind the decade-long enmity between our families? No, the time frame isn't right. I couldn't have been a baby when Enzo's sister was a teenager, right?"Although my father got revenge for my sister, I couldn't stop blaming myself. We were attacked because they knew I wasn't strong enough to fight back.
