Marriage

When the car stopped, Sylvia got down, following Blake. Shock filled her to see that both of them stood in front of the courthouse. This got her to shoot him a puzzled gaze.

“Why did you bring me here?” she asked, getting defensive.

She couldn’t think why he would be bringing her here.

“Let me tell you that I have always lived by the law,” she added.

For a second there, she got the feeling that he mentally rolled his eyes.

“To register for marriage.”

“Register for marriage?”

That only enveloped her in further confusion.

She continued, “Marriage? Whose? Yours? You want me to be by your side or something? Or is it mine? Are you actually forcing me to marry someone? Is it a form of sick revenge?”

“What do you think?”

He raised an eyebrow.

She laughed nervously.

“Whatever it is, it wouldn’t be something as absurd as us getting married.”

“That’s what it is.”

If it wasn’t that Sylvia cared about how she presented herself, her jaw would have dropped then.
