"Mate!" Nina's wolf said suddenly and  she perceived a strong but sweet scent of her mate. Nina immediately cleaned up from the toilet that she was and walked nervously back to the party hall. 

While tracing the scent to find her mate, she was hoping earnestly that her mate would be her boyfriend, Dewey. That had always been her prayer to the moon goddess. She loved him so much and wouldn't be so elated if she realizes that someone else is her mate. 

She suddenly sighted Dewey having a conversation with his friends merrily, Nina knew at once that he was the one. 

"Mate!" She let out happily, feeling butterflies in her stomach. She was so sure that Dewey will accept her. Dewey and his friends looked up to Nina immediately she spoke the word. 

Dewey stood with a frown when his wolf confirmed that she was his mate. How could this weakling be my soulmate? He said back to his wolf and immediately stood before Nina. 

"Dewey, what's wrong? You should be happy... The moon goddess had mated us together," Nina said, confused on his reactions. This wasn't what he expected from him. 

"I, Dewey Douglas rejects you, Nina Jerome as my mate," Dewey declared, causing everyone at the hall to divert their attention to them.

Dewey walked out glamorously, as he was the heir to the alpha.  Nina felt an instant headache and a heavy pain settled like rock in her heart. She felt so shameful expecially seeing that he rejected her in public. 

Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably and for the next thirty seconds, she just lowered her head and couldn't move. Thought he loved her? How could he shatter her heart this way. She felt an excruciating pain in her heart and her body felt like it was being stabbed with knife. 

She walked swiftly outside and ran as fast as her leg could take her, she didn't know exactly what she was running away from but it was as though she was trying to escape this current reality. She prayed that this will be a dream but it wasn't. 

She soon appeared in the woods but never stopped running until her legs failed her, she fell to her knees and plopped down to the floor, she growled in anger and pain. Now she wished that Dewey wasn't the one apointed to her by the moon goddess. She had been friend with him since she was thirteen years and they got into a relationship when she was fifteen. He had told her  severally how much he loved her. Was he lying all those time? 

Nina sobbed even harder and thought that she was going to die because of her pain, she wanted to shift so her wolf can take over but she was scared that her wolf might angrily go after Dewey and hurt him. The last thing she wanted was to be in the badbook of the alpha's family. 

She cried even very hard for more than an hour right there on the floor then she managed to stand. She was an orphan and doesn't have siblings or maybe she just doesn't know of them. She was raised in the motherless children home and sent away once she clocked eighteen to fend for herself. But she was not bothered since the alpha's son was with her. 

Dewey had been her only hope since she was young and now, the same man who had made her happy in the past is the same man who shattered her heart as if it was nothing. 

She suddenly sighted a tall figure standing on a small rock, his eyes was centered on the moon. 

She brought out her handkerchief, cleaned her tears with it and covered the down part of her face with it. She covered her face cause she had a silly thought in her head as regarding what's likely to happen between herself and the man. She walked carefully towards the man and the man didn't make a move until she got behind the man. She suddenly hugged him back and rested her aching head on it. She has no one and needed comfort. She didn't know if she can get the comfort in the hands of a stranger. 

The man turned back slowly but before he could identity who or what had hugged him, Nina pushed the covering on her face up a little and locked her lips into his and began to kiss him passionately. 

The man thought she was one of the many women in his pack who always wish to have a taste of him, he wasted no time in diving his hand right inside her cloth and immediately fumbled her breast, making her moan.
