She slipped the card into the door and it unlocked. There were divided parts that raged war within her. While one part was itching to go in and manipulate her way into making some money, the other part screamed at her to simply turn back and walk away. But what exactly was she afraid of? She had been married to Benson Saltzman and had tainted her hands in blood and sacrifices, what could possibly go wrong with this man that she couldn't handle?

She moved the door and it opened with ease. The room was covered in dark shades of red. It was so dim that she could barely see through the whole room. A toxic smell of something that she didn't know of lingered in the atmosphere. Just at the center of the room, there was a bed showered with roses, its blanket screamed purity. A different light— a shade of blue was pointed directly at the bed making it the one clearer thing she could see. She couldn't conceal the idea that she adored it.

She walked to the bed. The familiar cologne from earlier freshly hit her nostrils and she exhaled deeply, letting out an excited huff.

" I knew you would like those. I spent quite a fortune arranging that. High quality, trust me."

That voice! Deep velvet stitched with humour and generosity at the same time. It made these unusual goosebumps crippled into her skin, something she barely got but hated. The distant wall held the cherubic shadow of the person. Her heart galloped with every step he took closer.

" Josette Montgomery." The man spoke softly, it wasn't a whisper but it wasn't too loud either. His scent became a shocker in the existing room and breathing for a moment became a complication for Josette.

She turned over and met him. His tall frame could have intimated her but she had dealt with taller men. She could barely see his physique but his face didn't fail to hide beneath the dark but his almond green eyes shone. " Mr Morello." She faked a smile.

" Definitely was not expecting this sort of... engagement."

She didn't hear him say anything but she saw his hand reaching for the tie around his neck.

" I have a higher taste for formality unlike the usual officious approach of men like me."

" What do you want from me, Mr. Morello? I thought I was supposed to have fun here."

" And by fun you mean having sex."

Perhaps she wasn't that holy daughter of Mary just like what she was as a child, she'd probably flinch and gasp from being too weak.

" And this is your definition of having fun, Mr. Morello?" His name rolled out of her tongue not smoothly but furiously. This was definitely not the kind of worst she anticipated.

" Oh! Call me Zade, instead. It is more informal, don't you think?"

And yes! She flinched hard this time. Zade. She recalled the name from earlier and it gave her another set of goosebumps.

" I know you've gotten my message and I'd like to hear what you have to say about it, Miss Josette." He came forward just as the low red light began to hit high. She could now see his face clearly. A chiseled chin, flawless skin that not even a strand of beard or hair can be seen. He didn't look like a typical American, his divine looks could be traced to him being part British for his accent said so. Josette's tomato lips tremble slightly. " What do you want from me?"

" An agreement." He answered simply.

" And what kind of agreement am I to deal with?"

He undid the button of his black and silver brocade that cinched to his muscular frame with brutal elegance.

" You are very good at what you did, Miss Josette. Clean but a little breach here and there but still very perfect."

This time, he was closer to her than before, she hadn't even noticed when he walked. If she could count feet, she'd probably conclude that they were barely three feet apart.

" Letting him go was the best choice any woman would make." His hand reached for this few hair that tangled right at her lashes, she had blinked numerously to let it out but it remained.

Slightly, his hands brushed her face and he got the hair away. Josette huffed, exasperated before stepping back. " You've been stalking me this whole time? What problem do you have with me, exactly?"

" Fine. No more prolonging situations. Your life is on the line, people are coming after you and that includes your traitor ex-husband but there are other people who need you alive and that is where our agreement falls."

She crossed her arms. " You will be my wife, Josette and I promise to protect you from your enemies. Even to help you get revenge, if that is what you desire."

He finished talking, anticipating her response. Josette on the other hand, simply watched him, one brow raised up and a salty laugh threatening to slip from her mouth.

" Good play." She simply said and walked away from him, going towards the exit. " Oh! And by the way Mr. Morello, here's a subjective criticism reserved just for you."

She glanced over her shoulder. Zade had his suit over his arms while his other fingers caressed it rhythmically.

" Poke your nose somewhere else, otherwise, you'd regret crossing paths with me. I've dealt with people like you and I don't mind doing it again."

Zade didn't react, his face remained plain like it was since throughout their conversation.

" I'll be damned, Miss Josette."

The door slid sideways even when she didn't touch it. Strong security they had here. The music from downstairs reached her ears. It was her favourite song playing and no matter how she tried, she couldn't get herself to feel what she longed to feel— energized. She stepped out of the room.

" But don't worry. You have a second chance."

She heard him but she kept walking without looking back.

The morning was almost here. Zade was still sitting in Jane's room, his head over the couch, his drowsy eyes were on the playing video from his laptop. When he looked at Jane, she was asleep already. Zade stood, closing the laptop, one glance at his wristwatch and he sighed. He made sure to head off but also made sure to draw the duvet over Jane's body. Her blood dried on her hands, reaching her face. The sewing thread and needles still ripped her fingers, Zade exhaled shakily before heading outside.Almost getting to the meeting room, he heard furious talks coming from there but the moment he went in, everyone stopped talking. " I am sorry for arriving this late."" Fuck your ass, Zade. Seriously? Twenty damn minutes. Where the hell were you?"Bryan retorted. " Busy."Zade walked to his seat, he looked over at Caden who sat across from him then back at the video call. It was just Rebekah and Bryan." So, how'd it go?"Bryan asked." We got the weapon. He handed it so easily to us..

When she confirmed he was gone, she hopped out of the bathroom and went to return the shampoo where she had taken it from. There were goosebumps all over her body and she wasn't sure if it was because he had touched her or because she had reacted in a way neither of them expected. His hands on her skin didn't feel the same, it felt bizarre— colder, more fierce that it made her unsettled in a way. She went to her closet, longing for something comforting to wear for the night but by the time she opened it, something fell off. It was a blue rose, she picked it up, glanced back inside her closet and saw two others sitting there. There was a note— it piqued her curiosity as she took it out and read the piece. [For the daughters we both lost.]And her breath felt short. Tears came into her irises. She remembered Sophia and it wasn't like she ever forgot her daughter... it was just that she had been so occupied with her feelings that she gave less attention to her. And she regretted it

One glance and all she saw was blur. One movement and all she felt was ache but regardless, she moved, sitting on the couch she had fallen asleep on and cleaning her eyes to adjust her sight. There were two figures sitting across her. She couldn't recognize them at first but after numerous blinks, she got them. Her drowsy eyes moved from them and looked around. The light didn't flicker anymore and there were no strange noises that could make her puke. She redirected her gaze back to them, rubbing her hands together to warm herself." Feeling cold, honey?"She looked at the lady— fresh milky skin with long beautiful lashes. Even her brows were beautifully styled in an upward manner. She had plum lips— a black lipstick on. Her hair dyed black with the tip being gray. Looking at the lady seated on Don Junior's legs, it felt as though she was staring at her mirror reflection— but a more matured, more beautiful and sexy version." I'm fine!"She spoke back, pushing off the tears that th

Don Junior went to stand behind her, leaning just close to her earlobe while the placement of his hands went behind his back. Josette weakened, she struggled to move but her entire bones seemed paralyzed. It was strange though as she could clearly process everything the Don spoke, strengthening her anxiety." Do you ever wonder why he never says those words you've been dying to hear? why he never fights for you?" His voice was calm— it was low and he spoke in longer breaths." He sees her in you, Josette and you know that but he made you believe a different version that he wanted you to believe."He left her, walking far from where she sat. A mutter left her mouth." If you think he loves you, why has he handed you so easily to me? All for what? A weapon? You're worthless to him, darling."The light flickered, a strange subtle daunting noise played... but then it stopped." Josette."She panted. Her face was covered in sweat. Her gaze went to him. He now stood at her front, kneeling.

The dress was too perfect. Despite her small curves, she still looked really beautiful in it. The dress was a gold sequence— seamlessly flowing down to her legs while it had a long slit up to her thigh and black heels that complimented her fashion. A maid had just finished making her hair— adding adornments. When she finished dressing, she went down, the brothers were already there. Zade was dressed in his favourite corset vest and brocade suit with glittering shoes and Caden wore nothing more than an office suit— with the way he was looking, anyone could tell he hated what he wore." Thought you already ran away, hiding."Caden spoke when he saw her, adjusting his tie. " I'm sorry, I didn't know I took so long."Their mini discussion caught Zade's attention. He looked up at her, there was a subtle look of admiration on his face. " Are you ready?"He asked instead and cleared his throat afterwards. She nodded her head even though her spirit yearned to turn away from their little m

He never intended to get more roses, the feel of having to hold it made him quiver a little. Selena loves roses. Josette loved roses. Those two seemed more alike than anyone could even imagine. He drove off and got out of the car when he arrived at the mansion. The light inside reflected, bright enough to convince an outsider that this was a happy home but Zade didn't see his family that way." Psychopathic weirdos."He muttered and headed inside. It was already getting late— about seven o'clock pm and with every strike from the clock, Zade realized how close Josette's birthday was. In less than five days. He wore a frown, attempting to stride up the stairs to meet his wife but he stopped when he came across her figure, she was heading outside and she hadn't taken notice of him. Zade followed her calmly, sighting her fragile figure looking up at the sky." Cold night." His voice bolted her. She looked at him, crossing her arms nervously. " No. It's actually warm."She returned
