Aurora.

The atmosphere inside the SUV had completely changed.

All the laughter from the lake, the teasing, and the sweet stolen kisses felt like they belonged to another day. No one spoke much as Alec drove.

His hands stayed steady on the wheel, but I could see the tension in his tight jaw. Maxwell sat beside him, staring out the passenger window, his usual relaxed smile replaced by quiet focus.

I sat in the back, twisting my fingers together in my lap. I hated not knowing what was going on.

  • He called me fat....I stole his uncle   We are going

AlecBy the time Maxwell and I reached my father's private sitting room, I already knew something had changed. The house felt too quiet in that particular way that meant everyone in it was holding their breath. The warriors stationed around the estate stood a little straighter than usual, and every few minutes another member of the pack passed through the hallway with a purpose I couldn't quite name, as though the whole house had shifted into a lower, more careful gear.Maxwell walked beside me, his jaw set, his eyes hollow from a night neither of us had really slept through. I doubted either of us had slept at all, if I was honest.Every time I'd closed my eyes, I'd seen Aurora. The last time we'd seen her, she'd been walking toward her locker, completely unaware that her life was about to change again. Now she was somewhere inside the Don's world. And we had no idea what she was facing.I pushed open the door without knocking.Dad was standing near the large windows overlooking the

  • He called me fat....I stole his uncle   I won't

AuroraI had barely finished my lunch when one of the house staff came to find me."The Don would like to see you in his study."I looked up from the cup of fresh fruit juice I hadn't really been drinking. "Now?""Yes, Miss."I hesitated before setting the cup down. Ever since my conversation with my father that morning, I had been trying to decide whether I was angry with him or simply overwhelmed by everything that had happened.Probably both.He had told me I was his daughter. His only child. His only heir. Then, in the same conversation, he had told me that Alec and Maxwell were not good enough for me and that he intended to decide who I would marry.I still couldn't believe it.I followed the maid through the long corridor toward his study, my mind already preparing for another argument. When I reached the door, she opened it for me.My father was standing behind his desk, looking down at several documents spread across the surface. He looked up when I entered. "There you are."I

  • He called me fat....I stole his uncle   Wanting her back

AlecEarly the next morning, we were already in my father's office. He was on the phone when we walked in, so Maxwell and I sat down and waited until he was done.Dad ended the call and slowly lowered his phone. For a moment, he said nothing.Maxwell and I had been watching him throughout the conversation, trying to read his expression, but our father had always been good at hiding what he was thinking. This time, though, there was something different in his eyes. Something that made me uneasy. He looked at us."She is his daughter."I frowned. "What?""Aurora is the Don's daughter."The words took a moment to register, and then they did. My mind went completely still. Maxwell stared at him."How is that possible?"Dad sighed and moved toward his desk. "The Don received confirmation. Aurora is his biological daughter."I looked at Maxwell, expecting him to say something that would make sense of what we'd just heard. He looked just as stunned as I felt."But how?" I asked."He had a rel

  • He called me fat....I stole his uncle   New Problem

AuroraI woke to the faint sound of someone knocking on my door. For a moment I lay still, staring at the unfamiliar ceiling above me. Then everything came back.Noah. The attack. The journey here. The man who had looked at me and calmly told me that I was his daughter.I pushed myself upright, wincing when a dull ache moved through my head. A soft knock came again. "Miss Aurora?""Yes?""The Don has asked me to tell you that breakfast is ready."Breakfast. The word felt almost absurd considering everything that had happened. I was being held inside a mafia estate, I'd just been told that a powerful stranger was my father, and somehow breakfast was still happening as though this were an ordinary morning."I'll be down soon."After washing and changing into the clothes that had been prepared for me, I followed the woman downstairs. The dining room was enormous, with tall windows overlooking perfectly maintained gardens. A long table sat in the center, though only two places had been ar

  • He called me fat....I stole his uncle   Hus daughter?

Third person POV:The first thing Aurora became aware of was the pain in her head.It throbbed steadily behind her eyes, growing sharper whenever she tried to move. For a few seconds she remained still, confused by the unfamiliar softness beneath her and the faint scent of expensive wood and leather surrounding her.She opened her eyes.A large sitting room stretched before her, beautifully furnished with dark wooden furniture, deep leather chairs, and floor-to-ceiling windows covered by heavy curtains. Everything looked expensive, but there was something cold about the room that made her feel as though she'd been placed inside a beautiful cage. She tried to sit up. Pain shot through the back of her head, and she instinctively raised a hand to it.The memory returned.Noah. Her breath caught. She remembered him apologizing, remembered believing him, remembered following him away from the classroom because she thought he wanted to show her something. Then his hand. The wall. The phone c

  • He called me fat....I stole his uncle   Bringing Aurora home

MaxwellThe moment Dad ended the call, Alec and I separated without needing to discuss what we were going to do.We needed to find Noah. The blood on the floor had erased every trace of the jealousy and irritation we'd been carrying only minutes earlier. Whatever had happened between Aurora and Noah, it wasn't a harmless conversation, and the longer we stood there wondering where she was, the more time whoever had taken her had to get away.We started with the students.Alec moved through the corridor asking anyone who had been in the old wing whether they had seen Noah. I went in the opposite direction, stopping students as they came out of their classrooms and showing them his picture on my phone. Most of them shook their heads."No, I haven't seen him.""I think I saw him earlier, but I'm not sure.""Wasn't he in Professor Hale's class?""Maybe try the cafeteria."Nothing. Not a single useful answer. I was beginning to feel the frustration building again when one student finally sto
