The troubling news

The atmosphere in the living room became tense the next morning when Carmen walked in and locked eyes with her mother.

From the way Mrs. Smith looked at her she knew something was wrong, so she drew a deep breath and asked, "What's going on?"

 

Scowling at her daughter, Mrs. Smith narrowed her eyes. Then she looked at her husband and said, "Give her the paper,"

A heavy sigh escaped his lips as Mr. Smith picked up his newspaper from the couch and handed it to Carmen.

With a look of hesitation in her eyes, she took the newspaper from her father's hand and opened it.

"Is the first grandson of the Smith family  an Ash or a Davis?" Carmen read out loud the newspaper heading with a hint of fear in her eyes.

Then she continued, "The first grandson of the Smith and Ash family looks more like a Davis, then Ash and his eyes look like that of Liam Davis then Dax Ash."

"See what I've been warning you about!" Mrs. Smith lashed out.
