LOGINThe thoughts inside my head were enough to slow me down. Filling my lungs with air, I started walking. The hallway seemed to be longer than any path I had traveled. I was walking with only one name in my head but I had no idea where to find him.
There was no one around which was not a surprise as not many people lived in the mansion.
I could not figure out where Alpha Orion would be, I looked back when I heard a tiny noise but as a result, I collided with the large empty vase. I took the support of the wall quickly and stood up straighter, praying no one witnessed it.
"Are you alright?" a feminine voice that I had never heard before fell into my ears and soon a soft touch was on my shoulder. I tried to keep my eyes on the vase closing my hands into a fist, I dug my nails inside my skin.
I nodded without looking at the person.
"Are you sure honey? Are you looking for someone?"
I finally looked at the woman. The woman with hair like a beautiful sunset, and walnut-colored eyes with freckles on her nose stood in front of me with her brows scrunched together as she tried to figure out the presence of an unknown girl in front of her.
"Thank you, I am fine," I felt my cheeks becoming warmer.
She was a werewolf, I knew it.
"Don't worry darling, no one saw it," she showed her pearly whites to lighten up the mood probably.
I smiled fighting the urge to look away from her perfectly tanned face.
"Do you need something? I feel like you are lost," she tried once again, there was curiosity dancing in her eyes but unlike others, she did not ask anything.
"I...uh..."
"You need to be downstairs," another voice entered.
I looked at the source of that voice, it was a pale girl with midnight black hair and grey eyes. She completely ignored my presence and focused on the other girl. I had never seen anyone of them before.
Who were they?
"I was just on my way," the first girl replied calmly.
"Well hurry up," the second girl answered in the exact opposite tone while moving her hands in the air, "they are waiting to meet you."
Who were they talking about? I wanted to ask but it was best to keep the question to myself.
"As I was saying, I was just coming but then I met....." the first girl pointed her hand delicately in my direction.
"Ruhee," I said after realizing they were both looking at me for an answer.
The second girl gave a wide smile, which showed her zero effort in proving it was a real smile, "Nice to meet you, can we go now?"
"Sure," the first girl looked at me and gave a sweet smile before leaving with the second girl while I stood in the hallway watching them walk perfectly in their high heels.
"Are you always lost?" an amused girl asked. I remembered the girl, she had her lavender hair in a messy side bun this time. She was the one who told me about Chelsea.
"This is a big place."
"It is," she nodded with a smile, showing her slightly chipped front tooth.
"Why are you here?"
I wanted to know the answer too, but instead of answering that I replied, "I was trying to find the Alpha."
The girl....Aria, tilted her head slightly, "He is downstairs with beta and everyone else, Chelsea came back a while ago."
The name instantly made a storm stir inside my heart.
"You didn't know?" her eyes became wide, "wow."
"Who was the girl I was talking to? Is she with Chelsea too?"
This time Aria was looking at me like I asked her if she could give me her kidney.
"That was Chelsea."
My tongue could not move to say anything else.
That was Chelsea.
The woman who Alpha Orion picked to be his Luna.
She was perfect. The thought was enough to poke needles inside my head but it was true, she looked like a perfect Luna, she had confidence, she was beautiful, she was everything Alpha Orion wanted in his Luna....she was not me.
"Are you okay?"
I licked my dry lips.
"I should go back to my room."
"Are you sure?"
I nodded instead of saying anything else.
"Do you want me to come with you? Are you sure you can find your way back to the room?" Aria looked concerned. She might be thinking, what happened to the strange girl who came out of nowhere and started living in the mansion of their Alpha?
I nodded and this time kept walking instead of waiting and answering her question.
What was I thinking? Beta Bernadette said it was a decision Alpha Orion made before knowing he had a soulmate but why would he pick me over her? He had not even talked to me once.
I closed the door of the bedroom and stood in the empty room away from the entire pack. It was my fate. Everyone was outside talking, spending time together, and welcoming their future Luna while I was in a room. Even Bernadette was with them. I shook my head, I could not blame her, she was the beta, she had responsibilities.
I stared at myself in the mirror.
My light brown hair reached just below my shoulders, my eyes were round green with no spark in them, there were no freckles on my skin.....I was not Chelsea. There was nothing that could set me apart from everyone else...or make me similar to them. I was not meant to be here.
I kept staring into the mirror...the green color of my eyes kept becoming darker, the outer part of the iris started turning into an amber-colored ring.
With a gasp, I closed my eyes quickly and tightly then opened them once again but this time they were back to their original shade of dark green.
What just happened?
"How is he?" Rose was sitting on the stairs outside Kai's house, crushing something in a white mortar and pestle. She paused, hearing my sound. "Luna," she acknowledged my presence with a warm smile.I sat down next to her, "Can I see him?"She shook her head, "It would be best if no one meets him until he wakes up. I don't want the influence of dark magic on anyone else."I let out a breath, "When will he wake up?"It had been one day without Orion and I was feeling overwhelmed with everything. Bidding farewell to Celia and others was not easy, I had to make sure no one doubted Orion's absence. "The blue mark is fading," Rose replied as she added a palm-shaped leaf into the red paste and started mixing it. "I am sorry you had to stay here taking care of a person you have never met before."She smiled but the smile was dull compared to her other smiles, "I am helping you. My mother would have wanted this.""Where is your mother?"She hesitated and increased the motion of her hand.
Kai had returned but was unconscious.Flora was missing. The red moon had passed but the shadow moon was another mystery for me to solve. Orion was trying to find the person behind Kai's condition. Bernadette had given him details and footage of the areas around the pack, he was locked in his office trying to connect the missing strands. I let out a long breath and thought about seeing Celia."Luna," I was stopped by a voice, followed by a sound of someone colliding with something. I turned around to find Rose rubbing her knee with a scowl on her face. "Are you okay?" She immediately corrected her posture, "Yes, Luna.""I am just going to meet Aunt Celia," I informed her and waited to know if she was going in the same direction as well. She turned her head right and left to check if we were alone. "I-I need to talk to you," her words were careful. An uneasy feeling settled in my stomach. "The gamma." She stopped. I nodded giving her a sign to continue. She inhaled a deep b
The ceremony was completed 3 nights ago, we accepted each other in front of the whole pack and the pack accepted us in return with happiness For the first time, I had everything I wanted and nothing to wish for. I managed to sneak away from everyone to meet Flora, she had become a part of my life and yet I knew nothing about her. My foot steps were not slow, I was not taking my time to look at the trees and flowers on the way. I was running towards the river to greet my old friend and tell her the good news about surviving the blood moon.I finally slowed down after reaching the river and scanned the area. My smile dropped instantly, for the first time, there was no sign of Flora anywhere. "Flora?" I called out her name, which was foolish but for some reason, I thought she was nearby and could hear my voice.I waited before walking further, "Flora?"No response, just the sound of running water and birds. I decided to take a brave step and go to the other side of the river. I suc
"We can't thank you and your coven enough, Celia." Orion repeated. Celia smiled in response, "You are a part of our family now."Between the sounds of knife, fork and spoon, a sharp sigh got mixed in the dining room. I looked at Ruth, who kept cutting a piece of meat on her plate, the pieces kept increasing, but nothing was being eaten by her. She did not like me, it was not a surprise, it was understandable. Maybe she was also not sure about a stranger entering their lives. But she was my sister. They had proved their loyalty to us and now it was my turn to take a step in their direction. "But I must say, Alpha, I am not entirely happy." Silence. Bernadette and Orion shared a look, the lack of expression on their faces made it hard to read what was going on inside their head. But I knew they were thinking, were there any mistakes from their end in the arrangements for our guests?"Did we do something to upset you?" Orion was being careful with his words. Celia was too exhaust
"This is not right." My gaze kept moving between my hand, where I was feeling the faint warmth and the sky. The moon appeared normal...just like any other night. I had been feeling something in the pit of my stomach, at first I was sure it was fear....but it was not fear. It was doubt. The preparations had been made, Celia and Ruth were waiting for me where they had been staying. "Should I trust them?" The question had been bugging me ever since I returned from the forest. How could I trust anyone? I had learned from a very young age not to lower my walls for anyone...but these people were my family...my blood.Shaking my head, I put on a smile I had perfected over the years. The dagger sitting inside my jacket provided some comfort, if they did anything, I would be ready to protect my pack. ..."My dear, we have been waiting for you," Celia grabbed my hand and dragged me to stand inside a circle. Ruth did not bother to glance in my direction and continued feeding something to
The blood moon was almost above our heads. I could feel something in my body, the fear of losing people, the disappointment of letting others down, the confusion of my new identity."And that is why my dear you should always be careful with pronouncing your spells," Celia continued as she added some dry herbs into the cauldron. I smiled with a nod. She had been trying to teach me as much as she could, which meant she did not stop talking about the spells, coven, and moon. But the truth was I could not focus entirely on her words, so much was going on inside my head...I did not know if I should trust her. The boiling sound kept coming along with laughter of Celia as she told the story about 'my mother'."Dear, did you notice any signs of magic yet?" I shook my head, "Nothing so far."I knew Orion did not mention the change in eye color to anyone and I had promised Flora not to utter a word about what happened. She smiled, "It's completely fine, you might be a later bloomer."I just
