Chapter Six- The Blue Lake Pack

Megan

I was walking around and getting acquainted with the pack and discovered they have high respect for their Alpha. I also have noticed how they address me as Luna. I am not sure I am ready to be a Luna for another pack as yet, but with them being so kind to me I haven’t the heart to correct them. Nathan seems like a nice enough man but the loss of my mate and son is just too raw right now.

It feels good having time to meet the pack and explore the packhouse. It is huge like a giant mansion or even a palace. This pack is one of the biggest and strongest there is. My old pack was not as strong or as big. That was the reason we needed allies to help. This pack was the closest but by the time we were alerted to the attack, it was too late when we got the message out to Nathan for help, thus his getting there too late.

I do not blame him I blame the rogues. They were the ones who killed my family and pulled my son out of my arms. The memory of that moment will be forever etched into my mind. My arms still ache to hold my small son in my arms.

It is painful to lose a mate especially, in the werewolf world but for a mother to lose a child I would have to say is the hardest pain I have ever felt in my life. I find myself curled up in a ball, crying myself to sleep every night since that day. Walking around the packhouse has not been easy as there are mothers with little ones and that is difficult to watch when my arms feel empty. I take a deep sigh and smile at the mothers who bow and smile at me. I think I need to have a word with Alpha Nathan about the pack treating me as Luna. I know they probably know I was the Luna of my pack and that could be why, but I feel it is that they know I am Nathan’s mate. This surprises me as my mate's body isn’t even cold yet and the Goddess sends me a second chance mate.

I am glad that Nathan isn’t acting on that fact and allowing me time to grieve my loss. From what I can see and tell he is a good Alpha and leader, and the people love him.

As I am walking around, and young female pup runs up to me with a bouquet of roses.

“Luna,” She cries out as she runs.

I stop and kneel to her level about ready to correct her when I saw how happy she looked, “Yes, little one?” I say instead.

“These are for you.” She begins then looks sad, “We are sorry you lost your little boy.” She says handing me the roses.

Tears fill my eyes, and I can’t help myself I hug the little five-year-old as the tears slide down my cheeks. I am so touched by how much this pack cares about my feelings.

I pull away, look over, and see her mother with a smile, and I nod to her with a smile of my own.

The mother walks over to me as I stand. “I am Kyrie. This is my daughter Kimmy, and we...” She indicated to her daughter and herself, “Want to welcome you to the Blue Lake pack. I understand what you feel because I too have lost my mate in a rogue attack.” She said with a sad smile.

“I am sorry,” I say as she shakes her head.

“It is alright, that was four years ago.”

“But I imagine you still feel the loss?” I asked as I sniffed the roses in my arms.

“I do, but as time goes on it gets a little easier. I am with the hope that one day the Goddess will bless me with a second chance mate.”

I nod at her, “Thank you again for the roses. I am sure we will be chatting again.” I place my hand on her arm and smiled at her daughter before I turn to leave to head back to my room.

Back in my room, I put the roses in a vase and filled it with water. I then decide to take a nice hot shower and change for dinner I was hoping that Alpha Nathan will be there. He rushed out earlier today with something important to do. I am hoping to discuss with him about the pack calling me Luna. Even though I was a Luna in my old pack, since all perished in the attack, I feel I should no longer carry that title. Yet, it was a habit for me to sit in the Luna chair as I had this morning. I will this evening as I need to chat with the Alpha and I will be close enough to chat with him.

I head down and find he is there in his seat, and he looks up and smiles as I walk in and claim the Luna seat again.

“How was your day?” He asked as an omega set a plate of food down in front of me.

I smile even though my smile never reached my eyes. “I did some exploring of the packhouse today and met many pack members.”

“I am glad you are getting familiar with the place.”

I nod and begin, “I wanted to discuss something with you.”

He raised his eyebrows, “Oh? What about?”

“About the Luna title.”
