“Oh that was so good , love,” Bella laughed in her usual breathless manner, sighing in pleasure.

I untangled myself from her, my lust sated. The reason I kept Bella around wasn’t just for sex though, but also for companionship. I rewarded her loyalty to me with affection and gifts.

She had been the spy from the Starlight Pack to give me all the I formation I needed, especially useful when I attacked.

But my revenge on the Starlight Pack wasn’t complete. And it never would be, not if Livia still stayed in my life.

If only I had been careful enough to make sure no one found out about the mate bond we shared. I should have killed her then, or sold her off, or…

“What are you thinking about love? Hmm, baby?”

Bella’s voice echoed as she joined me in the shower and I accepted it. She wrapped her arms around my neck and stood up on her tiptoes just to kiss me. I grabbed hold of her ass, and hoisted her up, and her legs wound around my hips like it had done many times before.

“Business,” I gruffly replied, pressing my lips against hers.

“You know what I’m thinking about?” Her voice was sultry, and thick with lust still.

“My dick, I assume,” I responded, roving my hands all over her delectable figure. She gasped and moaned as my thumb and forefinger pinched her left nipple. The shower water fell down on us, warm and steamy and so fucking good.

My lust was stirred and I was about to lead my manhood back into her warm core when—

“And also about Livia. You know, your wife.”

She said those words with bitterness which I understood. Suddenly the mood turned sour and I growled.

“Don’t mention that girl in front of me, Bella.”

“Or what, Zach? Don’t tell me you intend on keeping her a your wife while I remain your lover,” Bella whined. “It’s been a year. I’ve waited so long. Please do something about this.”

I didn’t have anything to say to that. She was right. The only reason I had kept her around was to please the Elders, but now they had gotten more familiar with Bella, and surely would approve her as my mate if I timed it right.

But first I had to get rid of Livia.

And how would I do that?

It hit me like a truck: I wasn’t the billionaire Zach for nothing. There was no amount of money she demanded that I couldn’t give her.

“You will get your wish, Bella,” I told my lover who gasped, and her lips turned up in a smile.

“Really, Zach? You mean that?”

“Really.”

And I was going to make it happen tonight.

At the stroke of midnight, I knew everyone would be silent and asleep, except the night guards in the pack.

Leaving the comfort of my bedroom, and a sleeping naked Bella, I went to the one place I never wanted to be at: that girl, Livia’s bedroom.

“Moon Goddess, please,” I heard her whisper the second i slipped through the door. I had been stealthy in entering but hearing her voice brought frustration and anger to me, and I slammed the door loudly shut, watching her jump to my delight.

Her eyes were wide as I approached her and she shrank back the way she always did. I would feel more pity for her if I cared. But her Pack, her own FATHER was responsible for my brother’s death. My revenge was justified.

“W-what do you want?”

“Why that isn’t a way to greet your husband, Livia. You should be more welcoming,” i chastised her. She was dressed in a nightgown, but despite being ready for bed, her eyes were wide open and she didn’t seem likely to go to bed soon.

Time to get to the point it seemed.

“You begged me to leave before. And so pathetically so,” i sneered at her. “Now I’m willing to accept your terms. So, let’s have at it. What will it take for you to disappear forever from my fucking life?”

She gasped, and I chuckled. I didnt expect any less. I knew she had a crush on me at least at the beginning. Perhaps she hadn’t grown out of it yet. She was desperate for a mate, after all.

“Nothing,” her reply stumped me. “I can leave today if you let me. Right now in fact. I can leave, Zach.”

“That’s Alpha to you,” i growled, confused. Her attitude wasn’t what I had expected. Where was the begging? The pleas to forget what she had said? Where was that all?

“I despise lies, Livia. Be honest. You don’t have to act shy now,” I taunted her. “How much will it take to get rid of you? Five million dollars? Ten million?”

“Nothing at all. I’ll leave on my own,” she said, and I could see the tears in her eyes.

She was serious?

A chuckle of disbelief left my lips. This girl was a fucking conundrum. If this was a dare then I was willing to take the bet and call her bluff.

“Alright, let’s see you survive without me. You will never return, Livia. This marriage is over. Leave now, today, and never come back. The moment you do come begging,” I grabbed her chin and forced her to look up at me. “You will forever be a slave. And I will make sure you regret everything.”

She gasped, and I roughly let her go, storming out and heading back to my bedroom. She was infuriating enough to deal with as it was. Goddess knew I would be the happiest man in the world if she truly left.

The next morning dawned quickly, and I got myself ready for the day, with a still sleeping Bella rumpling up the sheets. She looked tempting enough for me to go for a morning round before work, but I looked away and walked down the hallway to Livia’s bedroom.

Opening it swiftly, I was left speechless.

The bed was made, her scent still in the air. But nothing else.

She was gone.

A laugh left my lips.

She had done it.

Oh thank the Goddess.

I was free finally.

I continued to laugh, leaving the bedroom,  and moving downstairs to have my early breakfast.

This called for a celebration.

A dangerous one is Livia. My jaw tightened as I paced the length of the dim corridor, my heels clicking sharply against the marble floor. The sound echoed like a ticking clock, each step reminding me that time was slipping, and Livia was always watching, listening, and always knowing.“How do I move,” I muttered under my breath, my voice low and venomous, “when every thought I have might not even be mine alone?” I stopped abruptly, my fingers curling into fists.Livia’s power was suffocating. This is calculated and strategic.”I could see the seriousness in Alexa's face as she said those words.I let out a sharp, humorless laugh. “Strategic? Bella? I will handle the rest.” I ordered and the line went dead. I stood there for a moment, I didn’t move as I simply stared at my reflection, my eyes dark, calculating and alive with something almost unhinged. This was it as everything was finally aligning the way it should have from the beginning.“All I need…” I muttered, reaching for the small vial on the table, “ is control.”

Chapter 85Bella’s POVI didn’t even panic when I started noticing steps behind me. Yes, I never panicked because I thought I might not be the one being followed, but the moment I noticed the pattern. I knew something was wrong.I noted the same face twice in different places, the same footsteps echoing a second too late and my lips curled into something dangerous.“Zach…” I murmured under my breath, my voice soft but laced with cold amusement. “You really think you’re clever,” I muttered to myself with a faint smile as I leaned back in my seat, my eyes scanning the reflection in the tinted glass. I saw the man trailing me trying to look casual, but he wasn’t nearly as subtle as he thought. A shadow pretending to be invisible.“Sending someone after me?” I scoffed quietly. “That’s not just stupid, that’s insulting,” I said calmly. My fingers moved swiftly as I pulled out my phone and dialed a secure line.
