CHAPTER 2

DARK MOONED PACK

Andrea was scared by all the commotion that was going on and her heart kept beating so fast that she thought that it was going to jump out of her chest.

She heard screams, high enough to shatter the eardrums. A rush of dread engulfed her being as she stepped an inch closer to where it originated.

She wondered what was going on and why they were all screaming for help.

She knew that something was wrong and they were definitely under attack because there was no other way to explain it other than that. She was feeling so scared and all the guards surrounded the palace ready for the attack.

The entire palace was laced with the fear of being attacked. The king was in more distress because he hadn't been expecting an attack and had no idea that something like this was going to happen but he vowed to protect his people with everything that he got.

Growls and Snarls echoed as claws met flesh. A man gripped a guard by the neck, ripping his head off with a devilish grin on his face.

The people were still running in and just then they saw the man behind it all, behind all of the commotion and attack.  The entire palace was shocked, especially the king, he hadn't expected the person who would attack them would be from their pack.

"Derek?" The king called. Derek let out an evil laugh that sent chills down everyone's spine, it was clear that he was up to no good, and from the looks of it, he meant business.

"Good evening your majesty, I see you're having a ball, how come I'm not invited?" Derek said and Andrea could sense every ounce of sarcasm in his voice. It was clear that he never cared whether or not he was invited, he was up to no good.

"How dare you Derek, this is your pack, why would you do such a thing?" The king asked him and Derek just laughed at his words. He knew that the king didn't suspect anything and didn't know that he was going to betray them later on.

"This has always been my plan, I was never on your side. You're such a weakling and don't deserve to rule, the throne shouldn't be yours but mine!" He said to the king. There was every bit of hate in his voice and everyone was scared by the chills in his tone and shifted back.

"I trusted you, Derek, I never knew that you could do such a thing to betray your pack, your own pack Derek. You're an alpha, what more do you want?" The king asked him, Derek wasn't really into the chit-chatting and just wanted to get down to business.

"You're such a fool, I never regarded you as anything, I was never on your side and I don't think you deserve to rule, this pack needs an Alpha who's more capable, and that Alpha is me!" Derek said. The king was so shocked that Derek would do such a thing to him, he was somebody he had trusted so much and was even ready to make him his right-hand man but yet he betrayed him.

"Why would you do this Derek? How can you break my trust when I trusted you so much?" The king said but Derek wasn't interested in any of the sob talk, he just wanted to down to business and take what he proclaimed was rightfully his and what should have been his all along.

" I guess you don't know the quote ' keep your friends close and enemies closer". Derek said and waved his hand,  and a part of the palace exploded making everyone run in different directions.

Andrea was so scared and didn't know what to do, her family was there risking their lives and there she was hiding behind the pillars on the second floor. She didn't feel brave at all, she felt like a weakling and hated the fact that she couldn't do anything to help them.

She ran as fast as she could all the way into her room and hid under her bed. Her heart was beating so fast, she was scared to death but knew that she had to stay there so that she would be safe.

She could hear the screams of other people and how they were begging for mercy. She wished she wasn't so weak and wished that she could do something to help but then again she was helpless and didn't know what to do, she had no choice but to just stay hidden under her bed.

She was shivering in fear when suddenly she heard her door open. Footsteps were drawing close, Somebody was in there and she could see the person's shoe. It looked like a guy's shoe, she covered her mouth to prevent herself from screaming. She was so scared that she didn't even want them to hear her breath. She was afraid of what they might do to her.

The person kept searching and searching, she held her hands over her mouth, trying to control her sobs as tears rolled down her cheeks. She lay there until she was sure that the person was gone.

Immediately she noticed that he was outta sight, she came out from the bed with cautious steps and went outside to peep, to see what was going on. Lots of dead bodies lay on the floor, people were murdered in cold blood that brought shivers down her spine.

She couldn't believe that Beta Derek was so wicked that he didn't care about shedding innocent people's blood just for the throne. I couldn't believe how much my father trusted and respected him and yet he turned out to be our worst nightmare.

Andrea felt stifled, as her eyes took in the bloody mess on the ground, and as she looked away, her eyes caught on familiar faces.

A sharp pain slammed to her chest like she was pierced with a knife. Her tears came like a flood and the sob found its way out of her mouth. One, or two, and then in series.

There laid her mother's and father's corpses on the floor. They were dead, she wanted to run to go meet them.  She couldn't believe that they were dead, her knees immediately went weak and she just wanted to die at that moment.

Andrea's entire world came crashing down and was filled with devastation. He killed her parents and made her an orphan. He was such a despicable being and she was never ever going to forgive him.

"I see a figure." A voice said, from downstairs. Snapping her out of her daze, she realized that one of the men must have seen her. The tension was thick and her heart was almost out of her throat, she needed to escape. She was still panicking when she saw the window,  it was a little high but she was determined.

She wasn't going to let herself be caught, like a chant she told herself, 'I must survive, for only then will I make Derek pay for his sins!'

A growl rang out behind her, stunning her into place, as dread filled her eyes.

'is this how I die?'
