Alpha Nicholas was sitting on the covered front porch of the guest house. He sat quietly, sipping coffee, listening to the soft sound of snowflakes settling on the ground around him. He inhaled the crisp night air and let the peace of his surroundings calm him. Nicholas had been here less than twenty-four hours and already understood why so many of his pack members had come there to stay. The Obsidian Clan felt different than the Dark Moon Pack. Tyson held Olivia as she lay unconscious in his arms. Rebecca and Dr. Reese quickly assessed her and removed the monitors. He was still trying to process what was happening when he felt warm fluid on his leg. “Her water just broke. She’s in active labor,” Rebecca told him. “There is an ambulance out front to transport her to the hospital.” “No! I’ll take her to the hospital. I can get her there faster,” Tyson told them as he stood. He gently laid her on the fleece blanket and wrapped her tightly. He scooped her up and dashed out the open balcony doors. He gave her a final kiss on the head as his foot hit the rail, pushing off, transforming into his dragon as he moved. When Kevin and Nick walked into Tyson’s home, they could hear the laughter and conversation in the dining room. The aroma was heavenly and made Nick’s mouth water. When he hopped off and Kevin shifted, they walked toward the group waiting for them. Nicholas recognized all of them and could feel the anger seeping from their very pores, all directed at him.
