Alexander's POV

A red stain spread across my brother’s chest on his shirt, and his body crumpled.

“No…” I caught him before his head could hit the ground.

“Gabriel.” Blood seeped between my fingers as I pressed my hands against his wound.

“Hey, stay with me, brother. Don't close your eyes.”

My mother dropped beside us.

“Gab! Look at me,” she cried bitterly. “Your mom is here. Nothing will happen to you.”

Gabriel's breathing came in shallow, broken gasps. “Mom…”

“Yes… yes, dear. Mummy is here."

  • Her Face, My Wife's Shadow    Chapter 98: Is This a Family Meeting?

Alexander's POV Mrs Clara held him closer, her face filled with sympathy. Amelia lowered her gaze, while Mila stood quietly beside Aria, trying to process everything that was unfolding in front of her. I remained where I was. Leo, who had just poured out everything he had kept inside for years, hadn't gone off my head, but I refused to let them change my decision. I couldn't let the world know about him. I promised Isabella I could protect him from the Boss. I can't afford to let him know we had a child. “Amelia, once your flight is ready, you're going back to London with Leo.” That was all I said before turning to the staircase. I climbed the stairs without looking back and headed straight for my bedroom. The moment I entered, I slammed the door so loud behind me.I loosened my tie roughly and pulled off my suit jacket, throwing it carelessly onto the bed. I dragged both hands through my hair before hitting the back of my palm against the wall.Damn it!Why did everything have to

  • Her Face, My Wife's Shadow    Chapter 97: Leo is Back

Alexander's POVThe cemetery was so quiet when I finally turned away from Isabella's grave. A cool breeze swept across the grounds, stirring the leaves of the trees lining the narrow paths. The last traces of daylight had faded, leaving the headstones beneath the soft glow of the surrounding lamps and a bright moon shining from above.I slipped my hands into my coat pockets, walking away. For the past five years, I had come here countless times, bringing flowers, sitting beside her grave, and talking to her about things I could never bring myself to share with anyone else. But tonight… the words refused to come out.I exhaled slowly and continued walking toward the path, leading to the cemetery gates. My phone vibrated against my body. I frowned and reached into my pocket. I thought I had set my phone on flight mode. Now who dares to call me?James's name flashed across the screen. My frown deepened. I swiped down the screen and noticed I on my Wi-Fi instead of the flight mode. What

  • Her Face, My Wife's Shadow    Chapter 96: Be My Guest

Aria's POV "He insisted on coming back for Grandpa's birthday celebration. He wanted to surprise him, but the flight delay ruined his plans." Amelia replied.Mrs Clara sighed. "You should have told me you were coming.""And miss the surprise?" Amelia smiled faintly. "Where's the fun in that, Nanny?"Mrs Clara gradually settled her gaze on me, and the smile on her face faltered. I knew what she was thinking. She was wondering whether I had discovered the truth about Leo. She knew if I did, I would be angry at her for keeping his identity from me. The secrets she'd guarded for so long had finally caught up with her. She was probably expecting my reaction. But I had other things to worry about. My mind was already occupied with the strange memories about Isabella. I couldn't afford to lose myself in another mystery when I was still struggling to understand my identity. If I were able to handle being Alexander's wife, I guess being this child’s mother wouldn't be as difficult. Besides, t

  • Her Face, My Wife's Shadow    Chapter 95: Why Did You Come Back?

Aria's POV Amelia quickly went to meet him."Leo, get inside." She ordered, glancing nervously at the people passing nearby. "Someone might see your face. And how did you even manage to open the door?"Leo ignored her questions. "Don't try to change the subject, aunt. I caught you red-handed lying to her face.” "Get inside, Leo, and don't play innocent here, pretending you don't know what you're doing. When we get home, we'll discuss this matter."Silence. "Leo!"The little boy folded his arms across his chest. “What?”“Are you deaf?”He sneered. "Why don't you go inside yourself and stay there? Since you enjoy telling everyone what to do?"My lips parted. Goodness! Just take a look at that arrogance. His blood certainty ran through his veins. Was he always this difficult? How did Amelia manage to put up with him?Surprisingly, Amelia didn't appear shocked by his attitude. Rather, her expression changed every minute. It seemed she was already accustomed to his stubbornness. People

  • Her Face, My Wife's Shadow    Chapter 94: Leo isn't your child. He's Alex's son from another woman

Aria's POVThe little boy wore a blue T-shirt patterned with small balls, black denim shorts that fell just below his knees, and white canvas shoes with long blue socks. His short hair was neatly combed, and his features were familiar to Alexander: the same eyes, nose, and lips; the same shape of head; and even his sharply defined jaw. Just like a miniature version of Alexander.Hold on! What's going on here? Am I imagining things, or am I just going crazy right now?I held my forehead and looked at him again, searching his face for another explanation. I might be paranoid or mistaken, but the resemblance was impossible to ignore.“You...” I managed to say a word, but the rest of it died. The little boy was as calm as ice, looking so intimidating. “Yes? Do you want to say something, ma'am?”I opened my mouth, but the question I wanted to ask refused to come out. I couldn't find my voice anymore. My lips trembled, praying to God that what I'm thinking shouldn't be definitely true. What

Aria's POVThe doctor shifted in his chair and studied me with a concerned expression.“Mrs. Sterling, tell me what happened.”I cleared my throat as the memory came rushing back. The images flashed through my mind again, blurry and incomplete. I blinked several times, trying to push them away.“Mrs. Sterling?”I lifted my gaze to meet his.“I’m fine,” I replied to his question written on his face. But that's a lie. In fact the tension in my chest refused to ease. And the doctor over there didn't appear to be convinced. He waited patiently for me to continue.“I… I saw a necklace at the birthday celebration. I believe it belonged to Isabella. But… the moment I touched it, I started hearing voices; images flashed through my mind. Everything was blurred. I couldn't even recognize my surroundings.”“But I'm certain of what I heard. The necklace belonged to Isabella's mother. It was a gift sh

Alexander's POV The four men froze, when they saw my men. They were outnumbered and outgunned. The leader looked around, his eyes wide behind his mask. He realised he had walked into a trap. Alexander’s POV I leaned my head back against the chair, closing my eyes. Inside this room, I had spent the last four hours staring at both Isabella Grey file records, a spy who once worked for a syndicate and Aria Bennett file records, a top-tier architect from New York. The dates didn't make

Aria's POV Where did that memory come from? I remember when I grew up in the United States. So why was my brain showing
