MasukSusan thought one reckless night would silence the pain of betrayal. Instead, she woke up tangled in the arms of a man who felt far too dangerous to be accidental. Smooth. Arrogant. Utterly intoxicating. Richard Morrison wasn't the kind of man a woman walked away from easily, and he knew it. But Susan wasn't free. Her marriage was a cage she hadn't yet found the courage to leave, and Richard was the kind of temptation that didn't just test limits, he demolished them. The more she pulled away, the deeper she fell into his world of power, secrets, and hunger she couldn't name. One kiss lit the fire. One secret will reduce everything to ashes.

"Sussy?" Rebecca, my friend, called to me from a distance as I hailed a taxi outside a hospital.
Oh crap! "Don't come any closer, please," I muttered through gritted teeth, adjusting my scarf to hide the swelling around my right eye.
I had just finished a doctor's appointment for an injury I'd gotten earlier.
"Hi, Rebecca," I finally replied, forcing a smile and trying to hide my face. I didn't want her to worry, but the closer she got, the harder it was to conceal my features.
I saw her eyes widen in shock when she saw me clearly up close.
"What happened to your eyes, Susan?" she asked urgently, her voice filled with concern.
I cleared my throat. “It’s nothing, Becca,” I replied quickly. “I just took a bad fall.”
She shook her head. “Don’t lie to me, it wasn’t a fall. Your cheeks are purple and your eyes are swollen. It looks like you got punched, like you were in a fight.”
My heart leaped; Rebecca was too smart to be fooled.
“I didn’t get in a fight. It was just a fall,” I tried to lie, but my voice betrayed me.
She was silent for a moment, and I realized she was piecing things together in her head. “Your husband hit you, didn’t he?”
“How about we talk about it later?” "I'm late for a meeting," I said, heading towards the taxi without waiting for his reply.
I opened the door and got in. I told the driver where I wanted to go, but before he started moving, the other passenger door opened and Rebecca got in.
The driver assumed she was with me and started driving.
She turned toward me, but I looked away, pretending not to see her.
“I’m your friend, Susan. We’ve been friends for years, and you know I care about you. So don’t try to hide anything from me.”
I bit my lip, holding back tears, as the memories of that beating replayed endlessly in my head.
“You’re right,” I finally said in a low voice. “Alex did this to me.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her brows furrow in anger. If his gaze could kill, I was sure Alex would have been dead right then and there.
Rebecca didn't know that Alex had been physically abusing me for a long time; it wasn't the first time, but this time it was worse. And every time I tried to leave, he threatened me.
"Did you file a police report?" she asked, her eyes fixed on mine, as if she were already searching for the answer before I could even reply.
That's precisely why I didn't want her to know that Alex was responsible for my injuries. I didn't report him to the police, and I don't intend to, because it would have been pointless.
Alex's family would cover up and distort the whole story if I tried to get justice from the police.
“No, Rebecca,” I murmured, almost ashamed of having said it. “I didn’t call the police.”
“Don’t be stupid, Susan. Are you going to wait for him to kill you?” she shouted, her voice loud enough for the driver to hear.
Then she turned to the driver. “Drop us off at the nearest police station,” she ordered, leaving no room for discussion.
The driver looked at me in the rearview mirror, as if waiting for my confirmation.
I quickly shook my head to dismiss Rebecca’s orders, hoping he would get the signal.
“Rebecca…” I began.
“No, Susan,” she interrupted. “We have to teach that son of a bitch a lesson he’ll never forget.” “
I swallowed hard, part of me wanting to just stay silent and let her do it, but Alex’s threat echoed in my head, loud and clear.
“Rebecca, I want Alex to pay for his repeated domestic violence and infidelity. But his family is one of the most powerful in the country, and I’m just a poor girl from a modest background.”
I noticed the driver staring at me in the rearview mirror, his eyes filled with compassion, but he said nothing.
Rebecca shook her head. “If you keep going like this, if you let fear paralyze you, he’ll end up killing you one day. Come on, Sussy, is that really what you want?” She shouted, her brows furrowed with anger.
Her words pierced me like daggers, but all I could do was look down. My hands were trembling on my knees, and I pressed them together, as if that would stop the shaking.
"You don't understand," I whispered.
I blinked, trying to hold back the tears that blurred my vision. “It’s not just him, Becca. It’s his whole family. They control the police, the lawyers, the newspapers, everything. If I talk, I’ll lose before I even get started.”
For a moment, Rebecca was silent. She stared out the window, her chest rising and falling sharply, as if she were holding back the urge to shout at me again.
Then she turned back to me, her voice calmer than I expected. “Then maybe you should run for your life, get far away, somewhere he can’t find you.”
Her determination frightened me almost as much as Alex’s fists. Rebecca wasn’t one to back down.
I wanted to beg her not to get involved, but before I could speak, my phone rang loudly in my purse.
I froze.
My hands trembling, I pulled it out and stared at the screen.
My blood ran cold.
It was Alex.
The phone continued to vibrate in my palm; his name alone on the screen made my heart pound.
Rebecca's eyes fell on it, then returned to me, her lips parting in shock.
I didn't answer. I couldn't.
Rebecca, sensing my hesitation, rejected the call with a sharp hiss.
But then, a message appeared on the screen.
"Nice scarf. Too bad it can't hide everything. You think you can hide from me, huh?"
Rebecca gasped. I jerked my head up and saw her black SUV following us.
My throat tightened so much I felt like I was choking.
Rebecca leaned forward, gripping the driver's seat. "Speed up, please," she insisted. "Don't let that car catch us."
But the driver shook his head nervously. "Ma'am, I don't want any trouble. If it's who I think it is, running away will only make things worse."
The SUV swerved and passed us at a terrifying speed. The tinted window rolled down just enough for me to see the demon I knew all too well, Alex.
My stomach clenched.
The driver slowed to a stop. My feet were numb, but Rebecca was calm, like a warrior ready to face the enemy.
I opened the door, bracing myself for shouts or the cruel grip of her hand on my arm.
"Don't tell him anything, Sussy," Rebecca ordered as we got out of the taxi. "Let me speak."
"He's going to hurt you," I said, my voice trembling.
Rebecca simply placed her hand on his waist, preparing to confront him.
The SUV door opened. Alex stepped out, imposing in his dark suit, not a hair out of place.
His cold gaze swept over me as if he were eager to take his favorite punching bag home.
My palms were already sweating, and my breath caught in my throat as Rebecca walked toward him.
I knew he was going to hit her, I was afraid for her, but I stayed still, watching.
And then, something I never could have imagined happened.
Instead of confronting him as she had promised, she threw herself against his chest and their mouths met in a fierce, greedy kiss.
My eyes widened in shock, and I felt a sharp pain in my chest, a pain so intense that even Alex's physical violence paled in comparison.
The driver next to me stared, speechless. "Huh?" he gasped. "I don't understand."
Susan's Point of ViewBefore the situation escalated, Gerald acted rashly. Too quickly, as if he were afraid of losing control. Before Alexander could fully grasp the gravity of his accusation, Gerald abruptly raised his hand."One more word from you, Alexander," he said coldly, "and I'll change my mind and support the divorce."A stunned silence fell over the room.I was speechless.Gerald turned slightly, his gaze hardening. "And you know perfectly well what that would mean for you."Alexander stiffened. His jaw tightened, the veins in his neck bulged, but he said nothing. Not a word.Since the beginning of the meeting, this was the first time he seemed... restrained.Gerald exhaled slowly, then turned his attention back to himself. "How dare you speak to your brother like that?" "He demanded. "Give me the complaint."Alexander hesitated."Now," Gerald snapped.Reluctantly, Alexander bent down, opened his briefcase, and took out the file. I recognized it instantly. The papers I had
Susan's Point of ViewRichard was about to speak when George abruptly interrupted him.His voice, full of authority and anger, echoed through the room. "You should watch what you say," he snapped at the reporter. "Otherwise, you'll pay the price for daring to call the Walker family corrupt to their faces."A deathly silence fell over the room. The reporter's face fell. She stepped back slightly, clutching her recorder as if to protect herself. Before anyone could react, Richard raised his hand."Calm down," he said firmly, turning to Gerald. "She was just doing her job."All eyes turned to him."This question," Richard continued confidently, "is based on public perception. It wasn't an attack. It was curiosity." “A detail in his tone made George reluctantly step back. Then Richard turned back to the reporter.“I will always stand up for justice,” he declared. “And for what is right. Until I am found guilty of an illegal act, no one will have the right to question my integrity or my
Susan's Point of ViewOne of the reporters stood up."Mr. Walker," a woman said confidently, microphone raised, "before we continue, may we ask about Richard Morrison's presence here with us today?"My heart skipped a beat.I didn't turn around, but I felt it, I felt Richard's name reverberate through the hall like an electric current.Another reporter immediately chimed in. "Richard Morrison is widely considered the most influential lawyer of his generation. Some even say he's the most brilliant legal mind of this decade.""Yes," another voice chimed in. "He built that reputation without the Walker name. Without endorsements. As Morrison."I swallowed hard.Gerald didn't interrupt them. He let them speak. Let the weight of Richard's accomplishments fill the room. “He’s represented billionaires, politicians, multinationals,” a reporter added. “He’s won cases considered impossible.”“And now he’s here,” another said, his gaze piercing. “At a Walker family gathering. Many are wondering
Susan's POV"What?" I whispered. My mind raced, trying to comprehend the accusation.I turned fully toward her, my heart pounding. "Is... is that what Richard thinks?"Vanessa's expression remained impassive. "I can't read Richard's mind," she said evenly. "I don't know what he's thinking."Then her gaze sharpened. "But that's what I think. And I want an answer."A searing pain pierced my chest. "I'm not unfaithful," I said, my voice trembling despite my efforts to control it. "And I'm not a liar."Vanessa's lips tightened. "That's interesting to say," she replied softly. “Knowing that you cheated on your husband. And that you lied to the man you cheated on her with.”The truth hit me hard.I took a deep breath. “Alexander didn’t send me,” I said firmly. “He didn’t plan anything. I was trying to escape him. I was desperate. I wasn’t thinking.”My hands tightened on my knees. “I didn’t even know Richard was a lawyer when I met him. I didn’t know who he was. I didn’t know he was… conne
