After checking on Ramsey, they saw he was fine with Nani, who fed him special meals. Ava begged Nani to watch him, then set out with Lucas.

They walked to the pack's forest and then dropped everything they came with. Before leaving, they packed a blanket, dried meats, water, and fruits. Lucas carried most of the heavy stuff, while Ava just carried the fruit basket.

They dropped the items beside a tall, old tree.

"Did you know the Dawn pack would have been built here instead of up there?"

"No, why would it have been here?"

"I wanted to do that, but Cian and the others convinced me not to cut down the trees and build more houses here."

Ava nodded. "Look, there's a house over there, but it's depleted."

"I know; that is where I used to live; there's plenty you don't know about me."

"There's plenty you don't know, too," Ava challenged back.

"Of course, life is precious, yet we still live so happily. Come, let's go see Erasmus and Layla."
