Betrayed By My Mate

Adira’s POV

The driver didn’t answer.

His hands tightened on the steering wheel.

“Answer me!” My voice cracked as panic started crawling up my spine. “This isn’t the way!”

The speed of the car increased, and the engine roared louder.

“Stop the car!” I screamed, grabbing the handle and trying to pull it open, but it wouldn’t budge. “Stop the car right now! I want to get out!”

My pulse raced violently as I tried again, my fingers shaking against the locked door.

“Stop!” I howled.

But no matter how many times I shouted, no matter how desperate my voice became, he didn’t respond.

Instead, he pressed harder on the accelerator.

The car sped forward into the empty stretch of road, swallowing my screams.

Suddenly, the car came to a halt with a screech as the driver exited the car and came around to open the door for me, as he dragged me out of the car.

“Do not try to do anything to me!” I said firmly. “Xavier will kill you for touching his future Luna.”

My voice choked as my body shook with fear. 

“No one would do anything to me!” The driver said with an ugly smile on his face. “I can just play with you a little…” he said, taking a pause, he gazed at me from head to toe. “You are going to die anyway.”

“Wh… What?” My eyes widened as I ran with all my might.

I didn’t know where to go, so I just ran until I found a burnt, isolated house in front of me. 

Without thinking, I just hid, but someone stopped me, holding my hand.

“Adira,” a familiar voice entered my ear, as tears started to stream out of my eyes. “Xa… Xavier?” I turned and hugged him tight. “Thank God! Thank God that you are here!”

I was feeling safe in his arms, but I never in my wildest dreams had I thought that those very hands would take my life.

He stabbed right in my gut. For a while, I couldn’t understand what happened until I felt warm blood seeping down. The next moment, I fell onto the floor.

“Finally,” June’s voice entered my ears. “It’s been so suffocating to see her near you!”

My eyes almost popped out of my head as I saw June in a wedding dress that I chose for myself, but she forced me to wear the current one.

“See,” Xavier spoke as he knelt, as he spun the knife in my stomach and took it out. “I told you, I’ll kill her the moment I’m done using her.”

I froze at the sound of those words, but he continued with his cruel words.

“She was such a fool that she thought I’d really help her live a new life, and did everything I told her to do…” He paused for a second as he kicked her. “But she was nothing but a useless crap whom I hated, even breathing in the same air as us.” Xavier then turned toward June.

“I tolerated her all because of you, my love.” 

His words stung me deep into my heart. I didn’t know what to say as only those words came out of my mouth.

“Wh… What? I… even killed your uncle for you!” I stammered, clutching my stomach.

They did not reply; instead, June hugged Xavier and kissed him, the man I loved and did all kinds of dirty work for him.

I closed my eyes as the tears streamed down my face. 

They didn’t have to explain everything to me; seeing them together was enough for me to guess that I’d been badly betrayed and killed by the people I trusted the most in my hellish life.

“You’ll meet your brother soon… Have a painful death ahead,” June said as she walked out the door, and soon the building was set on fire.

My brother? What did she mean? 

I wanted to ask. I tried to save myself, but all the windows and doors were shut, and being a weak omega, I couldn’t get out of there.

In the end, I just clutched the pendant in my hand and closed my eyes.

‘What have I done wrong? I just wanted someone to love me and to live a good life with my brother!’ I cried, feeling the burning pain in my body. 

“Just give me a chance, Moon Goddess! I want revenge, I want…” 

These were the last words that came out of my mouth until I heard someone’s voice, and a white light started to glow in my hands.
