Isabella's POV

"Everyone who cares for you will forsake you,"

I stayed in the filthy hole-in-the-wall, looking up at the tiny window high above as those words echoed painfully inside my brain.

Beyond this window lay the woods where I had perished so recently at the hands of that scheming little tramp.

Who could have imagined that even with the Moon Goddess's assistance, I'd revive only to endure the identical treachery! It had been he who had convinced me to be his chosen mate under the watchful eyes of the Moon Goddess! At 18, I told him how I felt.

“Let’s call it, Damien; it’s not going to work long-distance.

 We won't find joy together."

Those were precisely the words I'd uttered to him!

"No, Isabella, absolutely not! Screw the mate connection! I'll wed only you, Isabella; if not, I'll stay solitary forever."

I'd been completely stunned, able merely to whisper his name while embracing him firmly and weeping tears of joy.

I truly thought that despite not being destined eternally by the Moon Goddess, we'd still honor our commitments to one another throughout our lives.

What a pile of foolish illusions.

I scrunched myself up tightly, trying to stop myself from remembering those happy days with Damien, but the memories forced their way into my head uninvited.

The chill attitude of the man at the feast stood starkly against the warm man of my memories, and I wept in despair.

"Isabella... Please refrain from crying." my wolf addressed me softly.

“It’s okay, Aurora, there’s no need to worry…”

“I’m sorry, I wasn’t able to protect you.”

"Don't talk like that; I don't blame you." I said, straining every nerve to make her understand that it wasn't her fault.

The sole individuals accountable for this entire mess were that idiotic slut and her disloyal partner.

That malicious little sorceress and Damien with his chilly apathy... heed my warning, I wouldn't let either escape unscathed once I escaped this.

I brushed the tears off my face and rose, abruptly detecting the subtle aroma of Cedar as I stiffened in position, the quiet enveloping me like a shroud, with solely my swift heartbeat for companionship.

What was occurring to me? My heart pounded rapidly, and Aurora appeared to sense it too. She was agitated, striding eagerly in my consciousness.

Then abruptly, she shrieked thrilledly in my mind. "MATE! MATE!"

"What are you talking about, mate? Is this a prank? How can you encounter your mate while I'm trapped in this humiliating predicament?"

Ignoring my embarrassment, the pulsating feeling went up higher and higher while the scent of cedar only became even stronger.

There was the sound of hurried footsteps echoing down the corridors of the dungeon, and when I raised my head, a large, muscular figure was standing outside the bars of the cell.

The moon shone down on his broad, muscular shoulders, hiding one side of his face in shadow, which made his chiseled jawline stand out.

Looking up, one finds a pair of shining golden eyes staring into their own.

I regarded the distinguished man before me, my racing heart and Aurora's soft whimper indicating that this man... he was my destined mate.

I approached him instinctively, and through the bars, the man's hand extended, caressing my cheek with his palm as his coarse fingers delicately outlined my features. "My mate," he murmured nearly worshipfully.

"His wolf... Isabella, this man's might is exceptional!" Aurora declared enthusiastically.

"I know... even in our pack, such potency is uncommon!" I answered, just as astonished by the man who yearned to touch me.

He drew nearer, his heated breath wafting the cedar scent as it brushed my ear.

The sensation of his skin on mine was maddening, and I abruptly retreated to avoid acting entirely unlike myself.

"Don't fear, little mate," his laughing tone emerged from above, "I am Lucas Stormridge, Alpha of the Frostveil Pack."

He halted, his stunning eyes regarding me earnestly. "Are you prepared to accompany me?"

My thoughts were chaotic.I was lonely, abandoned, and betrayed just seconds before, and now, just like that, I was placed alongside the most powerful pack in the country, if not the world!"

I..."

“What the fuck do you think you're doing?!”

Before I finished my sentence, Damien’s angry voice interrupted it and He emerged in the passageway, guiding a sizable crowd toward me and Lucas.

ECHOES OF ALLIANCES (Lucas’ POV)I sat behind my desk in the dimly lit office, the usual calm of the room disrupted by the constant flow of reports coming in. Jax had left earlier with the warriors to assess the situation at the border, but I couldn’t shake the unease that settled deep in my chest. It wasn’t just the rogue attacks or the skirmishes that were coming too close. No, there was something else, something more immediate. The door creaked open, and one of my advisors stepped in with a set of papers. His face was grim as he handed me the reports. The moment I scanned them, I knew what this was about. The other Alphas were starting to react. They were whispering, grumbling, and making their moves. Isabella’s escape and our bond had set the pack world on edge.“They’re reacting faster than I thought,” I muttered, more to myself than to the advisor. His silence told me everything I needed to know. This wasn’t just about her. This was about us. The risk of letting her become

CEDARS IN THE DARK (Isabella's POV)The evening air was cool, wrapping around me like a soft, invisible cloak as I stepped onto the balcony outside my room. The scent of cedar trees lingered, as always. It was a scent that felt oddly familiar, and comforting.I leaned against the stone railing, feeling the quiet settle around me, broken only by the distant sounds of the pack moving about in the courtyard below. The night sky stretched above, dark and endless, and for a moment, I could almost forget the tension that always seemed to follow me, the weight of the future that pressed on my shoulders. But the cedar... it always reminded me of him. Lucas.I closed my eyes, letting the breeze wash over me, trying to clear my head. There were moments when I wondered if I was being foolish. My heart, my mind, everything felt so tangled. This bond we shared, the power between us, the pull of fate—I didn’t know what to do with it. But no matter how many times I told myself to resist, to be c

UNSEEN EYES (Spy’s POV)I slipped through the shadows, careful not to make a sound. The evening was calm, the air cool against my skin, but my insides were in a turmoil. I wasn't supposed to be here, but my task was clear. Watch, listen, report. From the corner of the training grounds, I crouched down behind a row of barrels, hidden from sight. Through the gaps, I could just barely make out Isabella and Lucas, locked in their sparring match. Her movements were fierce, controlled, better than I expected, given her recent arrival. She had a fire in her, one that made her dangerous, but it was clear Lucas was still holding back.I clenched the small silver token in my hand, the one that had been passed down to me from Silvercrest. It was a reminder of my loyalty, my connection to the past, to Damien. He hadn’t forgotten about Isabella, not for a moment. She was his, and if I could help it, no one was going to take her from him. Not even Lucas.Their auras clashed again, this time with

LESSON IN POWER (Isabella's POV)The air in the training grounds was thick with tension. Lucas had invited me to spar, but not just to fight—to learn. Jax stood to the side, watching intently as I squared off with Lucas. His presence was more of a reminder than anything, a symbol of the real power that lay within this pack. And now, it was my turn to prove I could handle it."Are you ready?" Lucas asked, his voice calm, almost amused, as he cracked his neck.I nodded, feeling a surge of nerves rush through me. "Let’s do this."He smirked, his eyes glinting with a dangerous gleam. "Don’t hold back," he said. "If you want to control your aura, you need to learn how to control your body first."I didn’t need any more encouragement. I lunged, testing him, but Lucas sidestepped effortlessly, his movements fluid and controlled. He wasn’t even trying yet."You’re too slow," he teased, his voice low as he moved behind me, his hand brushing my shoulder as I spun to face him. "You’ve got power

WHISPERED APOLOGIES (Isabella's POV)The hallways of Frostveil felt quieter than usual as I walked through them, the soft click of my boots against the stone echoing in the stillness. There were fewer whispers now, fewer glances that lingered a second too long. It wasn’t that they accepted me fully, but the cold weight of their distrust had softened. I walked past a group of servants who normally would have exchanged whispers behind my back, but this time, when I caught their eyes, they merely nodded. A small gesture, but it felt like progress. For once, I wasn’t the outsider. I wasn’t the enemy. The kitchen smelled of fresh bread and herbs, a comforting scent that made me feel less like a prisoner. I walked toward the laundry room, my footsteps lighter than they had been in days after my public trial. Then I saw Grace. She was an older maid who had helped me in the bath a few days ago. Her gray hair was tied up neatly, and her hands moved deftly as she sorted the linens. When she

TRIAL BEFORE FROSTVEIL (Isabella's POV)The training grounds buzzed with tension. I could feel it in the air, heavy and thick, like a storm about to break. The warriors were gathered, their eyes focused on me, some curious, some skeptical, and a few downright distrustful. The Council had called for this. I knew why. They needed to see me, to judge me, to decide if I was worthy of being here, of being his.I stood with Lucas beside me, feeling every bit the outsider. The weight of their gazes pressed down on me, but I didn’t flinch. I had learned to survive much worse than disapproving stares. But I had to admit, this felt different. Here, in Lucas’s world, with his pack—there was more at stake than just my own survival. This wasn't like the time when it was just between us and the council or when I had to face part of the pack in the dining hall. This was different. Almost intimidating.“Isabella Evergreen,” the voice of Elder Toren rang out, firm and commanding. “Before you can tru
