Isabella's POV

"Everyone who cares for you will forsake you,"

I stayed in the filthy hole-in-the-wall, looking up at the tiny window high above as those words echoed painfully inside my brain.

Beyond this window lay the woods where I had perished so recently at the hands of that scheming little tramp.

Who could have imagined that even with the Moon Goddess's assistance, I'd revive only to endure the identical treachery! It had been he who had convinced me to be his chosen mate under the watchful eyes of the Moon Goddess! At 18, I told him how I felt.

“Let’s call it, Damien; it’s not going to work long-distance.

 We won't find joy together."

Those were precisely the words I'd uttered to him!

"No, Isabella, absolutely not! Screw the mate connection! I'll wed only you, Isabella; if not, I'll stay solitary forever."

I'd been completely stunned, able merely to whisper his name while embracing him firmly and weeping tears of joy.

I truly thought that despite not being destined eternally by the Moon Goddess, we'd still honor our commitments to one another throughout our lives.

What a pile of foolish illusions.

I scrunched myself up tightly, trying to stop myself from remembering those happy days with Damien, but the memories forced their way into my head uninvited.

The chill attitude of the man at the feast stood starkly against the warm man of my memories, and I wept in despair.

"Isabella... Please refrain from crying." my wolf addressed me softly.

“It’s okay, Aurora, there’s no need to worry…”

“I’m sorry, I wasn’t able to protect you.”

"Don't talk like that; I don't blame you." I said, straining every nerve to make her understand that it wasn't her fault.

The sole individuals accountable for this entire mess were that idiotic slut and her disloyal partner.

That malicious little sorceress and Damien with his chilly apathy... heed my warning, I wouldn't let either escape unscathed once I escaped this.

I brushed the tears off my face and rose, abruptly detecting the subtle aroma of Cedar as I stiffened in position, the quiet enveloping me like a shroud, with solely my swift heartbeat for companionship.

What was occurring to me? My heart pounded rapidly, and Aurora appeared to sense it too. She was agitated, striding eagerly in my consciousness.

Then abruptly, she shrieked thrilledly in my mind. "MATE! MATE!"

"What are you talking about, mate? Is this a prank? How can you encounter your mate while I'm trapped in this humiliating predicament?"

Ignoring my embarrassment, the pulsating feeling went up higher and higher while the scent of cedar only became even stronger.

There was the sound of hurried footsteps echoing down the corridors of the dungeon, and when I raised my head, a large, muscular figure was standing outside the bars of the cell.

The moon shone down on his broad, muscular shoulders, hiding one side of his face in shadow, which made his chiseled jawline stand out.

Looking up, one finds a pair of shining golden eyes staring into their own.

I regarded the distinguished man before me, my racing heart and Aurora's soft whimper indicating that this man... he was my destined mate.

I approached him instinctively, and through the bars, the man's hand extended, caressing my cheek with his palm as his coarse fingers delicately outlined my features. "My mate," he murmured nearly worshipfully.

"His wolf... Isabella, this man's might is exceptional!" Aurora declared enthusiastically.

"I know... even in our pack, such potency is uncommon!" I answered, just as astonished by the man who yearned to touch me.

He drew nearer, his heated breath wafting the cedar scent as it brushed my ear.

The sensation of his skin on mine was maddening, and I abruptly retreated to avoid acting entirely unlike myself.

"Don't fear, little mate," his laughing tone emerged from above, "I am Lucas Stormridge, Alpha of the Frostveil Pack."

He halted, his stunning eyes regarding me earnestly. "Are you prepared to accompany me?"

My thoughts were chaotic.I was lonely, abandoned, and betrayed just seconds before, and now, just like that, I was placed alongside the most powerful pack in the country, if not the world!"

I..."

“What the fuck do you think you're doing?!”

Before I finished my sentence, Damien’s angry voice interrupted it and He emerged in the passageway, guiding a sizable crowd toward me and Lucas.

Business Plans (Isabella's POV)Helena spread jewelry samples across her sitting room table, dozens of pieces from various craftspeople in the region.Necklaces. Bracelets. Rings. Each one different in style and quality."If you're serious about this business," she said, her tone businesslike but warm, "you need to understand the market. What's available, what's lacking, where your designs could fill a gap."I studied each piece carefully, picking them up one by one. Some were beautiful but generic. Others had interesting designs but poor craftsmanship. A few were both beautiful and well-made, but priced so high they'd only appeal to the wealthiest Alphas.Helena watched me analyze each piece with an approving expression."Good eye," she said. "You're not just looking, you're evaluating. That's the difference between a hobbyist and a businesswoman."I set down a particularly lovely but overpriced necklace."There's a gap," I said slowly. "Mid-range pricing with high-end design. Pieces

Cracks in Silvercrest (Damien's POV)I sat in my office surrounded by financial reports, and every single one showed red.Deep, bleeding red.The pack's accounts were losing money. Vanessa had been spending on new furnishings, expensive clothes, decorative bullshit that did nothing for pack security or morale. And income had plummeted with warriors leaving and trade partnerships dissolving.Twenty warriors gone in six weeks. Twenty. Each transfer request was like a knife to the gut. These were wolves who'd sworn loyalty to Silvercrest, to me. And now they were abandoning ship because they'd lost faith in my leadership.Because of Isabella. Because I'd chosen wrong.No. Not because of Isabella. Because of me. I'd made the choices that led here.I shoved that thought away. Couldn't afford introspection. Not when my pack was falling apart.A knock at the door interrupted my dark spiral."Enter," I called, not bothering to hide my irritation. My Beta, Gal, one of the few loyal wolves left

Seeds of Creation (Lucas' POV)I found Isabella in my study well after midnight, long after the celebration had wound down and most pack members had retired. She sat at my desk, bent over a piece of spare paper, sketching something with intense concentration. She was so absorbed she didn't hear me enter, didn't notice me standing in the doorway watching her.Her face was relaxed. Focused. Alive in a way I hadn't seen before.I watched for a long moment, not wanting to interrupt but curious about what had captured her attention so completely."What are you drawing?" I finally asked. She startled, nearly dropping the pen. Her hand moved to cover the sketch instinctively."I—it's nothing. Just... messing around."I crossed the room, came up behind her chair. Gently took her hand away from the paper. The sketch underneath was breathtaking.A necklace design, elegant, intricate, with wolf motifs woven through the pendant. The lines were confident, skilled. Not the work of an amateur or hob

Dance and Discovery (Isabella's POV)Music started, traditional pack drums and strings that made Aurora perk up with interest in my mind. The kind of music that made wolves want to move, to celebrate, to let loose after battle or victory.Couples began moving to the floor. Young wolves pairing off. Mated pairs gravitating toward each other naturally.Lucas extended his hand, his hazel eyes warm with invitation."Dance with me, Luna?"I laughed, taking his hand despite my nerves."You know I'm not a very good dancer. I might step on your feet."He pulled me close, one hand settling on my waist while the other held mine gently."Then I'll suffer beautifully," he said with a grin.We moved together, and I realized something I'd forgotten. This joy. This simple pleasure of moving to music, of laughing, of being held by someone who loved me without conditions or expectations.Damien never danced with me at pack events. He was always too busy networking. Politicking. Making sure he was seen

Gifts and Belonging (Lucas' POV)I watched Isabella move through the Great Hall, accepting gifts from each pack member who approached.A carved wolf figurine. A woven bracelet in Frostveil's colors. A painted stone with protective symbols. A leather bookmark. A small clay pot. Each one handmade. Personal. Given with genuine affection. She was overwhelmed, I could see it in how her hands shook slightly as she thanked each giver. In how her eyes kept getting glossy with unshed tears. In how carefully she held each gift like it was precious treasure. My chest felt too full watching her. This was what she'd needed. Not just my protection or my love, but acceptance from an entire pack. Belonging that went beyond our mate bond.An older warrior approached, Seth, one of my most experienced fighters. His face was scarred from decades of battles, his hair more gray than brown. He'd been with Frostveil since my father's time.He held out a small knife with an ornate handle. The blade was practi

Homecoming (Isabella's POV)The convoy pulled through Frostveil's gates, and I braced myself for the quiet I expected.Maybe a few guards at their posts. Helena waiting inside the palace with tea and questions about how the Alliance meeting went. A calm, peaceful return after the chaos of today.Instead, the courtyard blazed with torchlight.Every Frostveil pack member who could gather was there—warriors, servants, families, elders. They lined the path from the gates to the palace entrance, holding torches that turned the evening into something magical. And they were cheering. My jaw dropped."What—"Lucas helped me out of the vehicle, grinning at my shocked expression."Surprise," he said simply.Helena approached first, her elegant features warm with genuine affection. She took my hands in hers, squeezing gently."You faced the Alliance and won, dear," she said. "That deserves celebration."I looked around at the gathered pack members. So many faces. Some I recognized from my time h
