Chapter 04

It's the first day of new school, first day of new life. Whatever it will be, Miles was determined to live it full. He will live through all of the moments that once he only saw in tv and newspapers.

He is a high school student now.

Miles made way to his department. He took arts. So, the classes schedule will be shared with them after today's orientation.

A new beginning indeed.

He was lost as it was first time and wanted somebody to guide him. He has walked past the reception and don't even know the way around to go back and look for the department map.

He breathed in and out to calm himself. Stress isn't good for him, and he can't handle stress well anyway. He took a step forward hoping he will find some help.

He read in the article published on school's website that students in this school are emphatic and kind. Helping others was in the goals of the school. This policy of the school was also one of the reasons why Miles chose this school.

He was confident to find some help. It just takes to ask someone, and Miles least can do that.

As he took a turn, he saw an old lady not too old but not too young either passing by the hallway. That's his catch. He can ask her. Miles took a hurried step towards her.

But before he can ask her his eyes landed on the small pound of water splashed on the floor, that was a bit invisible to the human eye but due to the bright sun light Miles was able to see that.

The old lady was just a step away and Miles panicked thinking she might slip and fall to the ground. Considering her age, the damage can be severe.

"Ma'am!" Miles called but seems like she couldn't hear him properly as she didn't turn. Miles ran and held her hand pulling her back with a bit of the force.

Yelp made way out of an old lady's mouth. She looked at Miles with slight anger.

"I'm sorry ma'am, I tried to call you, but you didn't listen." Miles helped her stand correctly on her own feet. "There was water on the floor, you could have slipped and fallen down here."

The old lady looked at the floor adjusting her glasses and smiled. "Oh, thank you young man. You saved my life. How can I thank you for that." She gave his hand a kiss making Miles smile wholeheartedly.

The simple gesture was so pure and heart-warming for Miles. People in this school are actually good.

"Are you new student? I haven't seen you here before." She asked looking at him from head to toe.

"Yes, it's my first day. I-I'm lost I g-guess. I don't know the directions well. If you can help me, find the hall where orientation is being held. I'm late I guess." He said looking at his watch. It was 7:35 am.

"Oh dear, you are so pretty. Worry don't look good on your pretty face." She cupped his cheeks. "You are just on time. The orientation will start at 8:30 and the hall is just, straight and take the right turn. The first hall is for orientation. You'll find the organizers there." She replied.

"Straight, and right?" Miles confirmed.

"Yes. Do you want me to come with you?" She asked looking at Miles. He looks a bit nervous.

"No no it's okay. I've my friend here, I'll just call him. He said he had practice so I just walked alone and got lost." Miles chuckled awkwardly.

"It's okay. You'll find your way. Best of luck for your new session." She gave him another kiss and left.

Miles was standing there smiling. The lady just reminded him of his own grandmother. He loved her.

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lucas has been sitting in the basketball court. His eyes fixed on the paper in hand and lips moulded into a smile.
"Ah, poor boy." Lucas smirked looking at the paper. He is sure he made a good impression on the boy.
"You are early!" There was a mock in the voice.
"So are you." Lucas replied pushing the paper into his pocket.
"My fucking brother was over my ass again. He had a test today." The small boy sat down. "Fucker didn't let me sleep."
"He isn't your real brother though." Lucas mocked.
"Yeah, he is a fucking burden over my shoulders." The shorter male rolled his eyes.
"Mou." Lucas called. Getting a hmmm in response from the shorter male.
"What would you do if you are angry with your brother?" Lucas asked having a certain someone in his mind.
"I'll make that fucker suffer." Moura replied. He actually hates his brother.
The reason is his mother. She married to another man after his father died and now, he has a step brother who is a pain in his ass. He troubles him and irritates him to his bones.
"That's what I'm thinking." Lucas couldn't hide a smirk off his face.
"What?" Moura asked.
"Nothing." Lucas replied.
"I saw Zoie on my way here." Moura said. "She was finding someone."
"She can go fuck herself for all I care." Lucas replied getting irritated at her name.
"What was that? Where did your love go?" Moura arched his brow.
"She ditched me. She was in a relationship with Michael as well. Fucking Michael Lee bastard." Lucas stood up in rage. Making the older male to look up at him.
"What happened to your face?" Moura couldn't help but ask. Never in his time with Lucas had happened that Lucas let anyone touch his face and the blue bruise made him curious to know about it.
"Nothing. I'm off training today. If Willie come tell him to meet me in cafe." He took his bag and was about to leave.
"What the fuck is your problem. You hardly take training. We are going to have a match in few months with other schools, Lucas. I'm your trainer here, I'm responsible for the team." Moura said holding his arm to hold him in place.
"You and the fucking team knows I won't let anyone down. I'm the best player you got. Your reputation won't get affected. Train others well, specially that nerd Mason, he couldn't even pass properly and teach Edward the perfect front shot, he is a best front-liner we have." Lucas replied with a wink and left the basketball court leaving the coach standing there dumbfounded.
"I'll kill him one day. His bratty attitude gets on my nerve." Moura huffed making way to his cabin.
Lucas went straight to his class; he only has one class today. He'll be free by 12 but he doesn't want to go home so early, and the only reason is Miles with him.
He wants the poor guy to suffer so whatever mean can be.
The day went by rather quickly. Miles was free as he thought. He was free by 11. Miles was confused on what to do. He finds it hard to look around and talk to anyone.
Almost everyone was busy with each other. He was confused how come they just met today and became friends already. It took him good one month to get to even talk to Christopher.
The struggle is real.
"Excuse me." He finally mastered the courage and looked around seeing one of the staff members behind the discussion desk.
"Yes?" The teacher replied.
"Good morning, sir. C-can you please....please tell me the way to library?" Miles gathered the courage.
"Go straight to the reception and take left. The first stairs will take you directly to the library." The teacher told him. Miles thanked him and went straight to the library. He now knows the way to reception and from there it was easy.
He didn't know what he will do, he doesn't have anything to do here, it's his first day. He wanted to go back, but there were two problems. First, if he went on his own it will cost him a lot of money. Bus ticket isn't that cheap and going with Lucas saves him money. Second, Lucas said he will wait for him. He just doesn’t want Lucas to keep waiting for him. After all it was his good deed that he gave him the lift so Miles decided that from tomorrow he will go on his own. His schedule might be different from Lucas, so he doesn’t want to trouble the poor guy. He will take his expenses.
His time in the library went quite fast. He has always been a sucker for books, so he doesn’t know how quickly time passed. He only got to know that it's evening when he got message on his phone.
 Meet me at the gate, right where I left you.
LV.
Seen 6:03
 Okay.
         Seen 6:03.
He
hurriedly took his bag and ran outside. He now knows one thing that Lucas is a short-tempered guy and he doesn't want to make him angry do he ran.
It was getting slightly dark outside. He ran outside and looked around to spot the familiar car. Just then he had another massage.
 Look straight dumbass.  Be quick.
Seen 6:10.
He looked straight and saw black car standing there but it wasn't the same as the one he came in the morning. He could least care about that.
He just ran straight to the door and opened it. Hopping inside, the first thing he did was apologize for being late and for making Lucas wait for him.
Only if he knew what was about to happen to him.
The car started and he didn't get reply for his apology. He thought maybe Lucas is angry with him and he don't want to press wrong buttons.
"Aren't you the gorgeous yet stupid person." A bit heavy voice made him hitch his breath. "Well, whatever it was, you made it easy for me."
"L-Lu-Lucas....w-what happened to your voice?" Miles asked. Worry lancing every inch of his body.
"You poor little thing. You are way too innocent aren't you." The boy mocked. Turning to Miles. "Do I look like Lucas?"
Miles saw the boy’s face and his blood run cold. It wasn't Lucas. But Lucas texted him. He asked him to come outside. Where is Lucas? What is this boy doing here? What do he want?"
"W-who are you?" Miles tried not to shutter. His voice getting heavy due to the lump forming in his throat. His eyes showing the welled-up tears.
"A friend of a friend you can say!" The boy replied with a smirk and pulled up the glass. Miles tried to shout but the other boy's voice halted his movement.
"Scream or shout, and I'll make sure to cut your throat open." A shrill voice of metal made Miles look at him. He saw a sharp-edged pocketknife in his hand. Miles tried but tears made way out of his eyes.
"Please." He weakly said. He doesn’t know at this point what is he begging for. His trembling figure made another laugh at him.
"Stay still and you won't get hurt. I'll be back, don't you dare step out of the car. Understood?" The boy stopped the car a little far from school. He pointed the knife at Miles's Adam’s apple and glared at him. Miles could only nod on the command. Right now, he has nothing else to do.
The boy went out and didn't lock the car. How dumb of him. Miles first tried to do as asked but then he thought of mastering up the courage and open the car door.
He looked outside and saw the boy standing inside the tuck shop of the gas station. That was his cue to run for his life. He did.
He hopped outside and ran, turned to look at the boy and his heartbeat fastened looking at the boy watching him running.
He heard his name getting called but he didn't want to see the one shouting his name. If not, then he will die running but will not get down without a fight.
"Why is this happening?" Miles wiped his tears. Now that he remembers, he doesn't have Lucas's number. He never took it. How can he trust anyone. There was no clear reference on the message. It could be anyone. Just if he would've been this smart a bot earlier than maybe this situation wouldn't have happened.
"Stop right there or else I'll shoot you." Miles heard the final warning. His feet didn't stop though. He was determined to save himself. He isn't going to die, not on his first day of new life.
"Help me.....somebody help." Miles tried to yell but it came a little muffled because of his crying. He can still hear his name call.
"Stop I'm asking you last time." This time Miles heard a fire. It scared him. His knees buckled and he stumbled, falling to the ground. He pushed his body hurriedly to stand back and find a good place for hiding. He won't last if he kept on running like this.
He was already having trouble breathing and his heart was beating way too fast.
He found a dark alley; he looked behind seeing no one was following him. He was relieved and he took one second to hide in there. He can see the familiar neighbourhood. He isn't that far from Christopher's apartment.
He peeked out to see no one was there and tan outside to the familiar building. Instead of stairs he took elevator and prayed that no one come inside.
But fate wasn't on his side as just the door was about to close, it was open by a hand in between. Miles unconsciously stepped back holding the steel pipe tightly.
"Are you deaf or just simply stupid." He heard the most angry and frustrated voice of Lucas. Lucas was huffing. It took him a minute to restore his breathing. Miles kept looking at him. He was sweating way too much and his cherry red hairs sticking to his forehead and neck because of the sweat.
As soon as Lucas's breath became normal, he glared at the blonde boy and held him by his shoulder, smacking him to the wall.
"Why the fuck was you out when I clearly said I'll call you." Lucas yelled at him. Miles hissed due to the tight grip and flinched badly on the yelling.
"Answer me." He jolted blonde's body again making blonde's eyes fill with tears. He felt Miles's body was a bit too cold and he was breathing heavily.
"I-I received the text......i-i though i-t wa-s you." Miles replied trying to free his shoulders. His body felt like collapsing.
"Whoever will text you will be me? Did you have my number?" Lucas yelled again.
"N-No."
"Then use this thing." He poked at the side of his head. "I said clearly I'll call you. You already are enough pain in my ass, stop troubling others. Be responsible, you ain't a baby." Lucas gave a last push to his body making Miles lose balance and drop to the floor.
"Fucking weakling." Twice in one day. Lucas called him that twice but this time he agreed to it. He really is weakling.
The elevator stopped and Lucas corrected his shirt making his way out of the elevator. Miles felt his surroundings rotating. He used his hand on the wall for a support to stand straight and walk out of it.
"Get in there and stay inside until Chris comes back. After that do whatever you want." Lucas snapped at him, pulling him by his arm and almost throwing him inside the apartment.
Miles lost his balance and dropped to the ground due to the push. A yelp made its way out of his mouth. He felt his lungs burning due to the lack of air, he was finding it hard to breath properly and his chest hurts with every beat.
He tried to sit and looked around for his bag. He needs his inhaler to proper his breath. Black spots already started dancing in his view. He felt like dying.
He was strictly prohibited to run fast, to do excessive tiring exercise and anything that needs his body to push too much. He was sweating way too much. His left arm felt like it was pulled out of its socket.
He found himself dropping to the ground. On his two hands and limp body he dragged himself to the room. There he might find anything to help himself a bit. He was successful to inside the room, but he didn't have the courage to look around. He was on the verge of dying.
What nobody knew was that Miles was the patient of sever heart problem. And this event didn't suit the situation well. His condition worsened.
As soon as Lucas pushed Miles inside and closed the door a broad smirk made way on his face.
"That was perfect Willie." Lucas did a high-five with a boy slightly elder than him.
"I feel bad Luke, he looked soo innocent." Willie replied.
"We have the saint Willie here again. Did you forget Robin? He was also innocent." Lucas knew well how to get others to do his work.
"Don't you dare speak a word." Willie kicked him from behind.
"But seriously he was freaked to death. Oh God how satisfying is that. Now I feel like a little verrrrryyyyy little burden is taken. But it still remains." He smirked. "Today was a good day."
"I'll be going now. Here’s his bag." Willie handed him Miles's bag and left. Lucas threw Miles's bag over his shoulder and went to his apartment 8599, at the end of the corridor.
"Good luck, boy." Lucas whispered looking at Christopher's apartment and went inside his own closing the door.
