~CAMILLE~

We ate in silence. Every gulp dragged down my throat like a stone; every chew turned into a battle. His gaze never wavered; it clung to me, heavy and unrelenting, burning against my skin even as he calmly cut his food into neat pieces. The annoying part was that he seemed perfectly at ease, while I felt stripped bare beneath his stare.

“Did you meet Thelma today?” he asked suddenly, his voice sharp enough to slice through the tense quiet.

The name hit me like a slap. I choked, juice burning the back of my throat, sputtering as I coughed.

“Camille!” His voice cracked, urgent and alarmed. His hands gripped my shoulders with surprising force, his panic spilling out before he could restrain it.

“I’m fine.” My voice rasped as I steadied myself. “Sorry… I don’t know how that happened.” I fumbled for the serviette, dabbing at the mess on the table and my thigh.

But as I wiped away the splash, my brows pulled tight. His voice carried fear, real fear. That wasn’t something I was used

  • His Betrayal, My Second Chance   Chapter 25

~CAMILLE~When I returned to the room, my eyes caught a book on the stool beside the bed. It was the one I had been reading yesterday before the heat—A Wolf Before Title. He must have taken it with him yesterday, since I was clinging to it before he arrived. That was thoughtful of him.Since I had nowhere to go today, I decided to read until the day ended. Picking up the book, I settled onto the bed, lying on my side, and opened to the next page. I hadn’t even finished the first paragraph when a thud came at the door.“Who is that?” I asked, my face twitching. Inwardly, I wished it wouldn’t be Thelma or Dante. I was exhausted. Tired of facing both of them. I needed to breathe.“Hello, Miss Camille.”An unfamiliar voice followed, making me sit up. I got out of bed and opened the door.An unfamiliar face came into view.“Hello, Miss Camille.” The woman greeted again, waving her hand as she walked inside.I stared, stunned. Who was she? I had never seen her since I came to Moonveil.“Hel

~CAMILLE~I tried to sit up, but a pang of pain wrapped around me and forced me back onto the bed. Pain burned between my thighs. My cheeks flushed as scenes from the previous day rewound in my head. His scent still lingered in my nose; his touch lingered on my skin. I could hear the echo of his voice. The way he treated me softly, as if I were delicate and might break if mishandled made me respect him more. I realized I had been wrong about him. He wasn’t what he’d portrayed: cold and dangerous on the surface, but different once you got to know him. He was soft, respectful, and put others first.I hadn’t expected to enjoy what happened yesterday, but I did; it was a memory I wanted to keep.I covered my face with the duvet and squealed, my legs kicking into the air. When the door creaked, I flung the duvet from my face, thinking it was Dante—but it was Thelma. She was the last person I expected in my room. My shoulders sagged and my face went stiff. Was I about to have a bad day?Her

~GENERAL~SILVERFANG PACKCassius clutched Benita’s arms, pulling them backward as he jerked into her aggressively while standing. The scent of musk and sweat mixed in the air, and their moans filled the room.Benita’s knees weakened, and she almost fell, but Cassius held her steady.“I want more, baby,” Benita moaned, sweat trickling down her forehead, her breasts dangling rhythmically to her jerking movement.“You will get more, baby. Let me give you more, honey. You are so sweet, Benita. I bless the day Father brought you here,” Cassius moaned, thrusting into her aggressively. As he neared orgasm, he pulled out, pushed her onto the table, and gently guided one of her legs onto it before pushing himself in again. The two stared at each other’s expressions in the mirror.“Will you ever leave me for anyone, Cassius?” she asked, moaning after every word.“Never! Ouch! Not in this world. Fuck! You are fucking sweet,” Cassius responded.Just as they were both nearing orgasm, the door flu

~GENERAL~Dante removed his shirt and spread it on the floor. He picked her up from the bare ground and gently laid her on the cloth he had prepared. Her hands clamped onto his chest. When her skin grazed his bare torso, her breath hitched. Her face suddenly reddened, and she couldn’t look at him.His lips claimed hers before she had time to think. Shock rooted her to the ground, her breath stolen, her body unsure how to respond. She had kissed before…once, with Cassius—but this was nothing like that. This kiss wasn’t gentle. It was fire. Possessive. Dangerous.“Kiss him back,” Kyra urged. When she didn’t yield, his teeth tugged at her lower lip, coaxing, demanding. A soft sound broke free from her throat, betraying her resolve, and she parted her lips. The moment she did, he deepened the kiss, his tongue sliding against hers with a hunger that made her shiver. Each stroke tasted of dominance, of a claim he hadn’t yet spoken but one her body already understood. Her chest rose sharply,

~DANTE~Her scent hit me like a blade—sharp, feral, and intoxicating. Shel roared to life after five silent years. I didn’t need to be told it was her. She was in heat. After five years, Shel finally growled. He was awakened again, acting like the wolf he really was. Ever since my first mate was killed, Shel had been mute. He only reacted once in a blue moon, just like he did in the sparring ground. But this time, he was more aggressive and louder. He pushed me forward even when I was still holding back. My body jerked, and every part of me became sensitive. I could feel a cold sensation crawling over me.Camille, you keep playing my wolf. What will you do when you finally obtain the trouble you’ve asked for?I started walking toward the east wing when I remembered what she told me earlier. She said she had never been in heat, which meant it could be more painful and dangerous. As I moved closer to the last building, which was the library, the scent grew fiercer and hotter. My wolf gr
