"Don't move."
Frozen on my spot, Lord Minir lifted me and let me sat on top of his desk. He pushed himself closer to me so my legs opened up a little, making him stand in the middle of my knees. His cold, calloused hands rested on my kneecaps.
"How have you been lately?"
"I'm fine," I answered.
" You don't look so fine to me, darling."
"W-What do you mean? "
I remembered about my sudden change of appearance and become conscious of my eyes. My eyes are blue! How could I forget?!
"You look taller, slimmer, your skin glows better than the first time I saw you. You look mature. Like a full woman with these... " my lips parted when he slightly touched my covered breasts before moving them back to my thighs. He continued, "... and these... "
"W-What do you mean?"
" They grew . "
I annoyingly rolled my eyes, " Yeah, right, master. I forgot you like girls with bigger boobs, and bigger butts. "
" How did you know?"
I gasped, " How? Your fiance is Lady Catherine. She's blessed with those things."
He laughed, " Of course, she is. And so are you. "
" But they're not as big as hers—"
"God, woman. I'm not comparing you with any other women."
"But—"
" But I like yours better so stop. "
I shrugged, " Okay. "
He smiled, laughing at my sulking. He traced his hands to my calves, under my skirt and up to my thighs.
"Where should I take bite, hm?"
"I-I don't know...master..."
" Let me see..."
He pulled my skirt up, revealing my full thighs and squeezed them. He grabbed the chair from behind him and sat on it.
"Put your leg on my shoulder." I raised my leg on his shoulder just as he told me to do so.
Lord Minir leaned on the side of my left calf, his lips nibbling my pale skin as his tongue caressed it, slightly giving butterfly kisses to my leg.
"No pain..." he whispered in the air.
I gasped, closing my eyes, feeling the way his fangs sunk on my skin, and the blood flowed out into his mouth. He sipped and sipped for a few seconds before his lips left me weak.
"Your blood...I can't get more of it..."
I stared at him. His arms snaked under me and lifted me off the table. At first, I thought he was going to put me in the floor but I realized that he was going to the bed, laying me down.
I suddenly felt tired but satisfied. There wasn't any pain and I'm sure that the markings from his fangs will disappear after a few days. Lord Minir will give me a special ointment to put in his bite again.
When my back felt the mattress, he let go and sat on the edge of the bed. His fingers were busy caressing my arm and neck.
"In a few days time, I will be taking you to a ball."
" M-Me? "
" Yes. You will accompany me. I will also bring Atlas, and the others as guests. But you are going to be my date for that night. "
"Really? When will that be, master?"
" Hm, on the last full moon, I think."
" That's nice. I've never been to parties."
He chuckled softly, " You will be now."
I nodded slowly as the candle lights dimmed.
"But you need to sleep."
"Am I going to sleep here for tonight because my room was ruined by the fire?"
His eyes went to the candles, " Partly, yes. "
"I'm sorry. I should've been more careful. I forgot to—to put out the candles before sleeping—"
" It's okay. The damage is lesser than what Gerber has been exaggerating. "
I giggled, " I know. She always exaggerates a lot of things. "
" Goodnight, darling. "
He put out the fire and left me in his chamber, in the dark, under the warm comforter all alone. I dragged myself into sleepiness, and woke up to the sound of people cheering from outside the room. I turned to the other side and found Lord Minir talking to the servants through the small opening of the door.
Maybe, Lord Minir was too cruel in the eyes of other people and to his servants. But he's kind enough to even welcome us here. I know each one of the people he took in were abandoned, unchosen, broken and maybe, flawed. Some of us could have betrayed him. Some of us have done so many things against him.
He took us in, giving us shelter and food, clothes and the education, in exchange for our service. For a while, I thought of the times when Lord Minir was scary, domineering. But some times when there is no need to be cruel, he's kind and warm, and... open.
"Is Lady Sol in there?" I heard Gerber's voice, giggling with the other girls.
I sighed. Really, Gerber?
"Shush. She's asleep. Now go back to your chores. After all the morning chores are done, you have the whole afternoon and evening to prepare for tomorrow."
" Can we go out to buy the dresses, Lord Minir? "
" Of course, ladies. You can do it after lunch. Take Lady Sol with you. "
" Yes, yes. Thank you, Lord Minir! "
They talked and talked for a whole while before Lord Minir left the chamber and went to his office, leaving me with Gerber who was helping me get ready for the afternoon shopping.
Everyone was feeling happy and ready to go. I have never seen them this energetic. They always look gloomy, tired and depressed.
"Once a year, Lord Minir takes all of us to the palace especially during the Moon Dance. It's a celebrated time each year. It's also the only time when Lord Minir will buy us everything we want. It's like a bonus, actually."
" Really?"
" Yes! And also, this is the first time that Lord Minir was in a good mood! I swear, Sol, he smiled to us this morning and asked me to gather everyone outside of his chamber so he can talk to us. I wonder why! "
I shrugged and pondered on that,
" He's always in a good mood to me?"
" You're his favorite. That must be why. But to us? I don't really think so?"
"Why not? He's the kindest person I know, Gerber."
" Oh, no, no..." She looked at me in horror, " He was cruel, too cruel, Sol. He would yell at everybody! He's a monster. I told you that. But then you came... and everything changed. "
I sighed, " Right. "
" Believe me. He has changed. And I hope it would stay like this forever. "
The luxury in life was never a big deal to me until I came to the mansion of Lord Minir, where I was introduced to all things sparkly , romantic and dark. Looking back at the years I lived when I was in the shelter, I would gross at these expensive things. But now, I'm wearing one of it. Gerber put on the expensive rose oil in my body, making my skin looked healthier and smoother. She also made sure that my scent will always be catchy, heads shall turn when I walk pass them. My hair was in an updo with expensive silver clips around it, forming a flower and leaves combination. She dressed me up in a long, black and red dress. It drops on the ground, covered the point of my black shoes. She, Gerber herself, was wearing a brown dress with the same length as mine. The only difference is my ruffled sleeves and her normal ones. Atlas, on the other hand, looked stunning in her dark emerald dress that glimmers with her silver jewels. We looked like spoiled daughters of arti
"Did you went to the library?" he asked. " No, master—" He squinted his eyes, " The truth, woman. " "Um, yes. I took a book that Count Vlad gave to me." Lord Minir shrugged, not minding whether it was important or not. He stared at me for a long while as if he was waiting for me to reveal the book. I took it out from the sheets and showed him. He glanced at it before deciding to read again. "You can bring anything to my room. Just don't make a mess, " He said. " Yes, master! " I cheerfully opened the book, put the candlelight beside it while eating my food. He would glance at me everyone now and then but I was too indulged to what I was reading that I forgot he was around. Helsings ruled the Doria Kingdom years ago. They were the rulers, and the protectors . They were like sages or mages, or even wizards but higher than them. They know power, they control elements, they were divine. The Great Priestess, Selestia, control the division betwe
I don't understand any words that Lord Minir has spoken. It seems to be quite possessive, something I do not agree with. He's right that at some point, he bought me and he owned my very being. But keeping me away from people who socializes with me are just plainly stupid. Or worse, I don't even know how to describe how much this offends me. I pulled my hand away, trying to break free from the pain of his grip. He turned to me, bloodshot eyes as if I had done a terrible thing. "It hurts..." I croaked, not wanting to let him know that his reaction is hurting me. He sighed, and calmed down. His hot head is still fuming, I know of that as a matter of fact, but I don't intend to make him feel even more upset. It's just not right for me. " Look...""Look, what? You're hurting me with your grip." I moved away. His shoulders fell as if he's slowly making himself look gentle, like a feather that landed on my smooth skin. I gulped as I realized how much he regretted what he just did. I kno
It felt like I was oblivious of what was going on around me. I don't know what to do and I don't have anything in mind. Except for the book in my hand that I am staring at. The thick pages of old paper and the heavy leather cover felt cold in my palm and fingertips. Questions flooded my mind. Have I gone crazy back then? Do vampires really go crazy when they smell blood in the open air? Or is he just hungry? I don't know. I want to know though. Atlas entered the chamber with warm water in a wooden basin and cotton cloth. She didn't say a word while making sure that there was enough warmth and enough herbs to put in the bite. After she cleaned it, she rubbed some ointment on the wound and it healed. She gently caressed her thumb on my pulse. Hastily, I pulled it back from her. "Are you scared of me now, Sol?" I stared at her, not knowing what to answer. Am I supposed to say that I'm not scared even though my body reacted in a different way? He bit me. He was a vampire. And Atlas i
The coldness of his voice made me shiver. His hands travelled on the side of the chair, resting on the space beside my thighs. Lord Minir leaned closer, his face a few inches away from mine, and his breathing felt like frost on a summer day. "Hm, did it hurt? " he asked. "Y-Yes." He smirked, " As it should. Any bite that doesn't come from me will hurt... a lot. " Is that really true? I haven't heard something like that before. Is it because I am his blood slave? "Why?" I hesitated. He looked at me, his eyes were scanning my face from my very lips and back to my eyes. "Well..." He glanced at my lips again. "I am your master. You oblige only to me, darling." Yeah, right. What was I even thinking anyway? That night, I expected for him to want or need me. Instead, he stayed out of our chamber and lit a candle for me to sleep. I expected him to come and comfort my longing soul. But what was I expecting? Why did I even expect? He already told
"He really did say that?" Gerber asked again.I shrugged, hesitating to tell her that even me felt threatened by Count Vlad's tone. I couldn't agree more that he could be right. The way lord Minir became gentle and killed someone for me was unbelievable. I mean, what am I anyway? I'm just a mere blood slave who has now become his blood bride. For who knows how long until he will get tired of my taste and decide to switch on a new one. I laid back on the bed, my corset still tight on my chest, but I didn't mind it. Gerber sat beside me, helping me sit again, so she can start brushing on my long, jet-black hair. Her hands were soft and careful on my hair as if they were golden strands. "I don't know much about Count Vlad, but he means well. These vampires are heartless, Sol. Once they'll know that something is threatening their kind, they will not hesitate to finish them off. But no worries. As long as Lord Minir will shelter you, you will remain unharmed by any generations of those b
The god of dreams forget to visit me that night, making me wide awake as I tossed myself around the chamber bed. What I saw that time was vivid. I was alive. I wasn't dreaming. It's too different from dreaming. What the hell am I even doing? I went to the balcony, and breathed in the night breeze. The silhouette of the branches touched the moon's yellowish orb. I stared at it longer than I should. I have never appreciated the moon. Or anything in this world before not until I was brought to this mansion, and Lord Minir taught me things. "So beautiful..." It might not be the only time I appreciated the moon for it's beauty. But I'm sure that it's the only time I actually think it's beautiful beyond words, beyond what I could think of. My eyebrows furrowed as I heard some movements inside the chamber. I went back and saw the books opened by the strong howls of wind, and the paper clipped by the pages was flown towards me. W
I averted my gaze from the heart-wrenching sight that unfolded before me as all the individuals involved were escorted to the infirmary for healing. They were making sounds of discomfort, contorting their bodies in an attempt to reach the source of their irritation caused by the constant itching and painful sensations. Despite the increasing anger that I felt stirring within me, a small pang of guilt also tugged at my conscience. I couldn't help but wonder if I was really to blame for what had happened. Perhaps it was all my fault as deep down, I had wanted it to happen to that person or people. This internal struggle between guilt and anger left me feeling conflicted. Lord Minir offered some comforting words to ease my worries as we strolled along the palace halls, where he had once resided and thrived. He assured me that everything was going to be alright and that there was no need to fret. His words were a balm to my anxious spirit. “Master…” “Yes, woman?” He sighed, nodding at
