I burst through the entrance at the city hospital. We had a clinic that was exclusive to werewolves from our pack, but Lily's injuries had been so severe that she had to be taken to a bigger hospital with advanced facilities. I rushed straight to the reception, hyperventilating. I had managed to hold myself together but I was gradually losing my strength. “I'm here for Lily Cole,” I swallowed. “I'm her mother.” The nurse on duty looked at me with a mix of confusion and sympathy. “I'll look through the records,” she responded. I impatiently stood there, counting the seconds it took her to access the computer in front of her and log into the system. “Luna, please calm down. I'm sure she will be alright,” one of the ladies from the packhouse who had come with me said softly. I turned to look at her wordlessly. She didn't know that. She didn't know what she was saying. I finally understood the unease that had been choking me all day. I subconsciously knew something bad would happen to my daughter but I had ignored the feeling. I should have gone back home. I should have stayed with her. “Lily Cole…” the nurse mentioned her name and I perked up, fixing my attention on her again. She stared at the screen for a bit and grimaced before looking at me with more sympathy than before. “She's in surgery,” she said, giving me a warm smile. “I’m sure the doctors are doing their best.” “S-surgery?” My heart sank and my chest started to constrict. I couldn't breathe any longer. “What happened to her?” I strained the words out of me. “From the records here, people around said she fell down a flight of stairs,” the nurse paused and her words sank in. “She suffered a traumatic injury to the right side of her head and the back of her neck.” “Oh goddess,” I went weak in my knees. I know what she was trying to tell me. Brain and spinal cord injury. I headed to one of the seats at the reception, burying my face in my hands. I wept silently. Waves of devastation coursed through me, and they were followed by dread. Usually, werewolves would be able to heal from those types of injuries why the right treatment. But Lily was a child. She had not gained access to any of the abilities that came with being a werewolf. My heart twisted in agony. There was a very high chance that I was going to lose my daughter. The realization was crushing. It was so crushing that I saw myself dying with her. Living without her would be unimaginable. She was my whole world now. I got out of my seat. “How did this happen?” I asked the lady that had come to deliver the crushing news to me. “How did she fall?” She swallowed and hesitated. I immediately knew what I was going to hear. “I demand you tell me now.” “Luna…” she trailed off and took a deep breath. “The alpha's mistress’s son was yelling at her for one of her toys. The alpha came between them and as he tried to separate them, she fell.” In the next moment, all I could see was red. Marcus… Marcus had done this to my daughter. He had pushed her down the stairs because of his mistress's son. I didn't want to believe the worst, but he had given me no choice. This was not the first time he had been violent with Lily. I slowly made my way out of the reception, hoping that the cool breeze would stop me from losing my mind. My racing heartbeat pounded in my ears. Why had I stayed despite the disgusting ways he had treated Lily, the ways he had treated me. We very clearly meant nothing to him. Why had I stayed long enough to keep my daughter's life in danger? There was no place for us with him anymore. At this rate he would kill Lily and then kill me. Fury and determination fuelled the decisions I made over the next thirty minutes. I was going to divorce Marcus. That would be the best way to go. ___ ___ ___ “What the hell is this?” Marcus asked as I set the papers on his office desk. I tiredly tucked the stray strands of my dull hair behind my ears. I had been at the hospital for two days while the papers had been processed by my lawyer. Lily hadn't woken up after her surgery and I was using the last of my life force to keep my hopes up. “Read it,” I rubbed my swollen eyes and stepped back from him, preparing myself for his reaction. His eyes skimmed over the pages and then widened as he realized what they were for. “Raven,” he looked up at me. “What is this?” “Divorce papers,” I said firmly. “I want out.” He stared at me for a few seconds before he burst into laughter. “You cannot possibly be serious,” he said after sobering up. “I am, Marcus. You put my daughter's life in danger,” I resisted the tears that flooded my vision. “Our daughter! She could be dying because of you!” I yelled. “Are you out of your mind?” He questioned. “After everything I've done for you? I made you the Luna of this pack and you want a divorce now?” He walked up to me. I closed my hands into fists, expecting him to hit me. He had not done it before, but I didn't think he was not above it. “You have no one. You have nowhere to go. I will not let you take my daughter away from me,” he growled. “Our daughter you almost killed?” I chuckled, looking up at him. “I will do whatever it takes to make sure we leave you. I am done with you,” I spat at him and stormed out of the room. If he was going to make this difficult, I could do it too.Raven’s pov“Why are you being so dramatic?” Jade spat out, her tone laced with hatred. “Your mate is so perfect for you. He does everything for you yet you always find a reason to complain,” She added, getting on my nerves. “You don't know anything that is going on here so just keep your mouth shut,” I responded, pulling my hair backwards. It has been a week of dragging this case with Marcus, and he finally agreed to sign the papers and reject me as his mate, but he insisted that everyone be present. In his words, he knew I was going to come back and that he wasn't going to accept me back, so he wanted everyone to be present so they wouldn't beg on my behalf a few months later. It was all a bunch of nonsense Jokes on him, I had no plans on setting foot in this place forever again. I already made my decision and there would never be any reason for me to change it. “Can you hear her mom? She is literally mocking me. It is not my fault that I haven't found my mate!” Jade respond
Raven’s POVI had just ended a call with Rokun asking me to be present at the Elder’s meeting the next day.I felt my blood boil in rage. “To what extent are you willing to go,” I whispered, biting my inner cheeks. I can’t believe Marcus was doing this. What was so hard in all of this?He should sign the damn papers and leave me the fuck alone! My first response was to give no as a response to them, but Rokun said that would lead to something worse and that it wasn’t advisable. Besides, I should not be the one hiding. Marcus should be hiding in shame after everything he has done. He completely disregarded the vows we made on our mating ceremony and treated me like a piece of trash. I endured a lot until I couldn’t anymore. ****I walked into the meeting room and saw that no one had arrived. Rokun rushed to me with a smile. “You are already looking way better than you were the last time you were here,” he whispered. My cheeks turned pink from his comment. “Stop flattering me.
Marcus POVI dropped my phone on the table with more force than I should have. Trying to keep my anger at bay, I poured myself a glass of water and downed it at a gulp. “Is this a joke?” I asked no one in particular, scoffing in disbelief. I refused to believe that Raven was doing this. What gave her the audacity to even do that? She must be feeling very confident to think that she had the right to do this. I needed to crush that confidence of hers. Even if it meant I had to do something sneaky, I was willing to do that. I wanted her to run to me, pleading for me to take her back. Divorce?!That was impossible! She had to stay here and take care of the things that she usually took care of. Who was going to do them now that she thought she had the right to leave?I hated that she was feeling too important. I was the important one. I was the Alpha. She should be the one chasing me around but it was the other way round. This has to be a joke!Just at that moment, I heard a knoc
Raven’s povI sauntered into my father’s home, wondering what this was all about. “Oh, she is here,” I heard my mother say as I walked into the house. “Raven, what nonsense have you been up to?” My father asked me, glaring. “Nonsense? I don’t understand you,” I responded, trying not to sound rude. The look my father gave me was that of anger mixed with irritation. I refuse to understand why he could despise me so much. “You know damn well what I am talking about. Why did you leave Marcus? And then some divorce nonsense,”Before I could open my mouth to respond, he raised his palm to stop me from talking. “I don’t want to listen to whatever you have to say. Head back to the pack house and perform your duties as his Luna,” He said. I scoffed in disbelief, turning my face the other way. “I performed my duties and expectations but Marcus has failed to do his part. He had broken the mate rule, he even brought another lady and a child. He treats Lily like dirt, I just can’t anymore
Marcus POVSienna strolled towards me with glasses of wine in her hands. She handed me one and moved in front of me. “You want me to get drunk while still in office?” I asked. “Not at all baby, just that every day of our life calls for celebration,” she whispered into my ear and winked before sitting in front of me. “And also, Raven is finally gone. My maid said she saw her packing her things earlier this morning.”“Wait, is that true? Isn't she back? I thought she would have been back already?” I asked Sienna. “Back my ass. She is gone for good. Or are you bothered about it?” She asked, raising her brows. I twirled around, not bothering to give her a response. My mind was too occupied with her shenanigans. “Argh, why are you making that face Marcus? Shouldn't you be happy about this?” She asked, raising her brows. “I have always hated that I had to act like a mistress when I was the main and now things are easy for us all. She has stepped down,” Sienna added. I kissed my te
Raven’s pov“Mama,” Lily rushed to me and hugged me. I took her in my arms, placing kisses on her cheeks. “We have somewhere to go today, are you excited?” I asked as we got into the car. “Are we going to the park, Mommy? I want to go to the park. Park!” Lily shrieked in my ear. “Not the park baby, you just got back from school. I am sure you are exhausted from all that learning,” I told her. I finally moved out of the pack, but I was staying in the apartment my parents gifted me when I got married to Marcus. We were going to be there till the divorce gets finalized and then I’ll know what to do next. I tapped my fingers anxiously on the steering wheel as I thought of how to explain to Lily that we were never going to return to the pack house. “I pray she understands this,” I whispered, biting my cheeks nervously. We finally got to the apartment and I could see the confusion on her face. “Why are we here, mummy?” She asked, staring at me with a confused gaze. “Our new house
