Leal squinted and coughed up the smoke that had been fanned in her direction. From beside her, Izzy flashed a sheepish grin that was immediately wiped from her face when she looked over to her boyfriend’s grill beside her.

“Seriously? You had one job.” She heard Izzy scold Ryker upon seeing his burnt steak.

“I told you, I’m not a cook!”

“Fine. Nice try anyway.”

Today is family day in the White Claw Pack. This has been an ongoing annual day for three years ever since they moved to this secluded town on the outskirts of Moscow, Russia. Every year, everyone would clear their schedule and just go outside to the center of the village, and prepare for whatever recreational activity they had planned. It was for the sole purpose of having families bond and letting everyone rest from the hectic happenings in the pack. Today, they opted for a quiet pool party and outdoor cooking.

“Daddy!” Instinctively, Anna’s squeal registered in her head as she frantically looked around, looking for her daughter—thinking she’s in trouble—only to see her giggling at her Daddy’s tickles while floating in the pool. She heavily exhaled and shook her head, smiling a bit.

The couple beside her continued bickering, turning quiet for a few seconds every so often, only to be caught making out. She’d shake her head at the two and continue grilling barbecues. When the food was done cooking, they ate lunch happily and enjoyed a few sports in the water. A few hours later, Leal’s face brightened as the Epsilon greeted her with some great news.

“Ladies!” She enthusiastically greeted the seven tall ladies who went out of their way to visit them here. Immediately after greeting her with a hearty hug, most of them scurried to Anna, who giggled at their kisses.

Fortunately, every one of the ladies is now succeeding individually and is living their best lives. They do not live together anymore because everyone has their own house or apartment, and are either living with their partners or their families. Everyone was waking up with smiles on their faces, they all buried their dark past and moved on together, with everyone having tattooed a semicolon on their wrist—a symbol of affirmation and solidarity, a symbol which proudly screams one has overcome a heavy problem.

“Damn, I missed you little one.” Big Rory pulled her in for another hug.

Of course, the other saw that and proceeded to squish her tiny figure under their big ones. She chuckled and hugged them all back, not before borrowing energy from Lilith—who, may she mention, gets energized almost every day—which resulted in a number of grunts and muffled curses.

“How is this petite kid so strong, really?” Big Trisha shook her head jokingly.

They joined in on the fun, completely dismissing jetlag and the immense time difference. The day passed by like a blur because she enjoyed it so much, not wasting an hour without laughing or smiling. When dusk fell, they started cleaning up and returning to their houses, all with contented and happy hearts. The small family of three took their time walking to their house, enjoying the silence and being in each other’s company.

It had been a fulfilling and joyful day—but to be honest, that was the whole year. So far, it has been a great year, one with tranquility, happiness, and simplicity. It was all she ever wanted.

It took a heck ton of sacrifice, but it was definitely worth it.

Anna, now age 7, looked up at them and randomly said, “I love you.”

They were surprised, but smiled nonetheless, both responding, “I love you too.”

That same night, a falling star caught Leal’s eye. She was still up until midnight, writing a new novel, when she coincidentally caught a falling star from the window. Being a firm believer in the falling star’s wishes, she fluttered her eyes close and whispered under her breath.

“I wish Anna lives a fulfilling and happiness-filled life.”

Because she and Axel have already lived a fulfilling life. Not happiness-filled, but fulfilling. She was content with her life right now. She hopes it’ll stay this way. She’s happy and safe, and so are her other loved ones. Everything is rightfully in place.

But three years later, on the day of Anna’s 10th birthday, they were caught in surprise.

Looks like things seem to go very wrong when Leal lives a stable and content life. Another page was flipped open. Unfortunately, it wasn’t theirs.

“Mommy, Daddy! No!” Anna screamed in despair, her vision blurred with tears, and her heart heavy with grief. On her 10th birthday, Axel and Leal Elcort met their demise.

The End.

Author's Note: Apologies for this ending. But our next main character, Anna, needs a springboard for her character. Killing our beloved Axel and Leal is the best way to develop Anna. Her story will be even more wild, don't worry ;)

“Happy birthday to you...”The people were clapping while singing in Russian, smiling at her, and loosening up. Anna smiled shyly at everyone singing the birthday song while she awkwardly sat in the middle in front of her three-tier princess cake. Her body’s stiffness immediately relaxed upon feeling a peck on her cheeks. She grinned at her father and clapped her hands too. “Happy birthday, Anna!”“Thank you!”She was grinning all day. Her parents had the best 10th birthday planned out for her, and she was at the peak of enjoyment throughout. It’s this joyous every year, but she’s always thankful every time. At a young age, her parents had taught her to value even the most mundane things in life, and she’s still living up to it.“Anna! Let’s play!”Her playmates invited her immediately after finishing lunch. Despite having a full stomach, she still pushed herself up to burn calories and do some physical things, like her mother always advised her to do to stay healthy.“Wait!” She gigg

“Son, I didn’t raise you to run away from your problems, but I know I always told you to stop fighting a losing battle,” he said. “Elcorts are brave warriors. But we know when to step back if it’s not our time if it’s not our fight.”Axel nodded at his father’s words. Currently, in the jet’s mini bar, talks like this are inevitable.“I don’t wanna risk Anna. She’s merely three and she’s already gone through so much. I want my daughter to live her best life.” He drank the remaining vodka in his glass. “And Leal, a f u cking C4 was thrown to her! I’m not letting her die in my hands. I’ve had enough of those situations.”“What you did was the best thing you could do in that situation. Where are you off to now?”Axel looked outside the window of the jet, and from here, he could see the aerial view of the countries they were passing through to reach their destination.“I was thinking of the least populated town in a country where the pack originated. I want her to grow in the lands of her

“Gather the pups and group here in the mansion, everyone.”Although she could barely hear her voice because her hammering heartbeat was deafening her ears, Leal still managed to announce a rushed plan. They just discovered what the nearby explosion was from the wives of the Epsilons. Other than grouping everyone in here, she doesn’t know what else to do. They’re all females and pups here! The men are all out to bring down the Ministry!A few minutes later, everyone was sitting quietly still on the lounge, watching the monitors that were showing live footage of the masked men stealthily crossing their borders. The wives of the Upsilons managed to use their slight knowledge about computers from their husbands and apply it today.Leal, who was supposed to be formulating a plan as their leader, was restlessly pacing back and forth around the lounge. She never thought this would happen. She never expected the other side to retaliate. And she’s sure Axel also didn’t see this coming. If he d

His eyes were bloodshot, blank, and screamed mercilessness. He was the epitome of violence. He held no other weapon but a pistol and yet that was enough for dozens of lives to end up in his hands.“Alpha.” He turned to one of his men. “Body heat count as of 4:09 PM is 2,049. Eclipse to happen in two minutes.”He turned away as another head exploded and the blood splattered all over him and nodded at the Epsilon’s report. They’re yet to execute the plan and he’s already used up a magazine or two, none of them gone to waste. This compound’s security is just so widespread that they could’ve been caught way earlier if he didn’t help and cock his pistol. The sun was slowly dimming, the moon’s shadow casting over a big part of New York. It was supposedly the golden hour, but since the moon is dimming the grounds, they’ll consider it as kill hour.“6…5…4…”And so the countdown began. The poor, unknowing compound where the Ministry’s main HQ stood will soon be coated with blood, all the other

  • His Claws On My Neck   Chapter 79 – Back Home

They arrived in Madrid last night, only landing to treat Axel’s wound and buy Anna milk. They changed from the chopper to the private jet, and they were back in the air in no time. For the entire ride, Leal was just looking out the window and lulling Anna to sleep. She was quiet the entire time, not crying even once, nor complaining of flight sickness. Anna’s first plane ride isn’t that bad. After approximately 8 hours, Leal was woken up by the pilot’s announcement. They’re landing in five minutes. She fluttered her eyes open, squinting at the morning rays peeking from their window. She slept on her seat, and she doesn’t know how, but now she’s on one of the beds in the sleeping quarters. Half-asleep, she unconsciously turned to the right of the bed and bit back a yelp when she was greeted by a big body cuddling a drastically smaller body beside her.Axel and Anna were peacefully sleeping beside her, cuddling each other. Her heart melted at the sight and even blinked back tears upon w
