Alina POV

(Five years later)

"Miss Grant, you have a call from the contractor working on the Seaside project," my assistant Clara said, as she walked beside me, ticking things off her pad.

"Hold it until after my meeting, but if my lawyer calls, inform him to start legal proceedings for our two stable projects." I said, while pulling out a mirror to check my lipstick.

"Your date from last night called about a second date tonight." She hesitated, " I think he might be the one. He's sweet."

I smiled, remembering the cute tech guy from yesterday who had taken me to a low-key Italian restaurant and called me his lucky charm. He was sweet, but the truth is that I didn't want sweet, "Tell him I don't do repeats”

"You have six lunch requests. One is from the CEO of Derr Inc." she informed me.

"Schedule with him. Is that all?" I asked as we halted in front of the office door.

She nodded, then adjusted her glasses, "Are you sure you're ready?"

"I've been waiting for this day for five years, Clara. I'm more than ready," I replied.

"Yes, ma'am," her expression went from concerned to worried and then she pushed the door open for me and I walked into the conference room, ignoring the look of shock on the men's faces as I took my seat at the head of the table.

"You can't be here," one of the men protested, "This meeting is between…”

I cut him off before he could annoy me further, "My name is Alina Graht, granddaughter of Charles Grant, and the new CEO of this corporation. If you have a problem with that because I'm a woman, feel free to use the door." How I managed to reconnect with my real family and find out the truth about the Moreaus still remained a shock to me.

I dragged my gaze lazily across the room, meeting each man's gaze one after the other.

"This is ridiculous!" A familiar voice snapped, "You can't possibly be Charles Grant granddaughter. Quit this nonsense Alina."

I stared down at my useless ex husband, unsurprised by the shock and derision in his gaze. I searched inside myself for all the love I'd thought I had for him, but all I could feel was irritation. How had I not realized what a lazy, dumb fool he was?

All his life, he had just used people including me to advance himself.

I was going to make sure the whole world saw him for what he was. After which I'd destroy my former family too for what they had done.

"Sit the fuck down and keep your mouth shut so we can hear the woman," I jolted at the sound of the unexpected, but familiar voice.

Turning my head I met piercing blue eyes that belonged to a man I never expected to meet here. My head swirled as blood rushed through it and I immediately forgot the carefully planned script I had rehearsed. What the fuck was he doing here? Since when did the Wolfes start partnering with the Grants.

I cleared my throat, "The Greenville project will kick off in October. But only three companies will be partnering alongside mine for it."

"What!" Victor  roared.

The other men immediately began to protest, but I couldn't seem to pull my attention away from Sebastian 's. It felt like the entire room had disappeared, leaving only him behind. I needed to get the hell out of here and regroup.

"The companies will be chosen by my grandfather by the end of July. If your company statistics are less than impressive by then, you can say goodbye to collaborating with me." With that, I rose to my feet and marched out on my five inch designer heels, ignoring the rising voices of the men.

"You bitch," Victor  grabbed my arm, sneering before I could walk past him, "What do you think you're doing showing up here and trying to mess up everything? I hope you haven't forgotten that…"

"If you don't get your filthy hands off her, I'll be more than happy to break those hands," Sebastian  interrupted, looking as cool and calm as ever.

"Who the fuck do you think you are? Stay out of this. This is between Alina and I."

"Actually, I have nothing to say to you Victor ," I tore my hand away from his hold, "And you should think twice about attacking the woman who holds your future in her hands, or are you going to make your secretary seduce me into giving you the job?"

Scoffing at the fury on his face, I rushed out of the conference room and it's chaos.

"Ma'am what happened in there?" Clara hurried toward me, "You look pale."

"I need to get out of here, I need to"

"Running again, Alina?" Sebastian 's voice cut in.

"I'm not running," I fixed a polite smile on my face, trying not to gape at how striking he was, "I'm done here and so I'm leaving."

He dragged a hand through his midnight black hair, "Without saying goodbye to your husband?"

I raised a brow, "We both know that marriage document is invalid."

"I guess we'll find out in court on Monday."

Shock moved through me, "E-excuse me?"

"Did you think that just because you disappeared our marriage would be over?" He asked coldly.

"It's been four years," I spat, "That was the agreement and time has run out now."

"July fourteenth of next year," Sebastian  said, "That's when our five years expires."

"W-what? That's not true!" I cried, "We don't need to go through this stupid farce. Just send over the divorce papers and I'll sign them. I'm sure you don't want to be in this fucked up marriage."

He took a step closer, backing me into the wall. I shivered at his proximity, feeling heat rise up in the base of my stomach.

"Trust me, Miss Grant, you don't know what I want." He breathed against my mouth.

"What do you want?" I whispered.

His mouth pulled up at one corner and he stepped away, the heat in his gaze chilling to ice, "You're going to be my wife for one more."

"And if I say no?"

"If I remember correctly, Charles hates scandals." He said, "Do you think he won't hesitate to strip you of your position if you get in a lawsuit at this crucial time?"

"You bastard! Why are you doing this? Is this just because of the partnership?" I said bitterly, "You didn't even care that I disappeared that day."

He chuckled humorlessly, but before he walked away, he dropped one more bombshell, "Oh and one more thing, Alina."

"What?"

"According to the contract, you owe me an heir."

What the fuck!

Alina POVMy grandfather didn’t look pleased to see me, the anger on his face only deepening as I walked through the front door of one of his penthouses with my purse in hand. This was the agreed location and also to avoid any cameras that might follow me.I smiled awkwardly at him, and he just scowled even harder. “You’re are going to tell me what is going on”“Sure I am” I agreed, sounding a little more defensive than I had intended. He wasn’t exactly known for being the forgiving type. “What is going on? First it was the sudden marriage, and now those photos? Why did you not mention them?”“I didn't know they were in existence until yesterday grandfather” I bowed my head in shame. It didn't matter how much of my past I had tried to erase, they seemed to always find their way back to me, to where they truly belonged. It didn't matter if I hid or not.He sighed, running his hand down his face “Why couldn’t you have called first? It takes time for things like this to process.”“It

Alina POVI watched him put it in his pocket. “You wouldn't be needing this for now,” he told me. I raised my brows, confused. “Why? I always need my phone, give it back” I held my hands out expectantly.“I'll give it back later,” he replied, shrugging.“Well, I don't understand what silly games you are playing this time Sebastian Wolfe but I would like my phone back this very minute, I don't care about what you think” “Fine,” he agreed and reached out for me. I flinched and jumped away as fast as I could. He frowned but he didn't say anything and I didn't know whether he actually understood or if he was simply pretending. I decided not to ask and to take my chances with it.He dropped the phone on the bed instead of handing it to me and soon he was walking towards the door. “I'm going downstairs, I'll send my chauffeur around to pick you up,”“Wait, you aren't coming?”“No” he said matter of factly. He turned around and I saw something flash across his eyes, something very dark

Alina POVThere were two things I knew for sure. First, Sebastian Wolfe was angry and whatever had annoyed him had us sitting next to each other in his private jet back to New York. And the second? I didn't give two shits, so I didn't ask.I didn't ask when we made our way back to the room we now had to share in the Wolfe's mansion even though I still thought it was unnecessary.I woke up to no sign of Sebastian by my side and I was glad I had the room to myself.I had my bath and got out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my body, my hair was still wet. The room smelled like lavender. It was my favorite smell.I moved the towel to my waist, my back turned to the door while I applied some lotion over my body. The door opened with full force but I wasn't fast enough to wrap myself up with the towel. When I turned to look at the intruder, his eyes were wide, almost comically so and he looked down at me. I felt bare even though I now had a towel over me.His eyes moved from my

  • His Contract Wife Revenge   Chapter Sixteen

Alina POVNot too long after Sebastian had left for his room, I decided to call it a night myself. I was completely spent and I needed to relax. I found his aunt by one of the tables talking with her daughters. I excused myself, telling them I was extremely tired and needed some rest.“Oh that’s understandable. Come, I’ll walk you up to your room,” Sebastian's aunt offered.I was inclined to decline but she was already getting on her feet and coming around the table to meet me. I sighed as I took her hand which she surprisingly offered me again and allowed her to lead me up the staircase. While we walked, she peppered me with some personal questions. Then she started asking me about her nephew and what I thought about him. It confused me at first but I told her the only honest thing that I could. He was quite honest with his dealings and very straight to the point.‘Oh that’s my Seb. He’s always been that way. Too uptight, doesn’t let himself relax”We were now in front of a bedroom

Sebastian POV“She’s easy on the eyes, cousin”I did not have to turn around to know it was Alex –Al as our mothers liked to call him, who had spoken. In his hand, he held a plate of food piled high. “Whose eyes?” I asked without looking at him.“Come on, it’s hard not to look”“But not impossible, try”He chuckled, recognizing my twisted sense of humor for what it was even though a part of me was serious.I looked away from him just as he picked up another piece of chicken from his plate and took a large bite.It was one of the greatest mysteries of Alex. How did he manage to eat that much and still remain fit. With his inconsistencies at the gym and several social disorders. But I knew how. Which was exactly why I was giving him the look I currently was.“What?” He laughed and struck my arm with his elbow, playfully of course.“You know what”“Relax, I’m not going to touch her. She’s your wife. Come on, man, you’ve got to give me more credit than that”Then I really looked at him a

AlinaI was suddenly nervous at the prospect of meeting his other family, I was even more confused on what exactly I was doing here.“Do you want to shower and get changed first?” Sebastian went on, unperturbed by my worries,My palms were sweaty. I indiscreetly rubbed them against my skirt while he stood there peering at me curiously like he could see through the brave mask I was trying to put on.“Actually, I was hoping to talk to you first”Sebastian only raised his brow for a second before turning around. “We’d go somewhere private”I followed him around the curve of the staircase to the hallway beyond. There were a series of doors leading out of the hallway on both sides of us. Large windows flanked the exterior walls revealing the fields around the house. I decided that if I had time to do anything else, I would walk around the grounds. Finally, Sebastian turned open a door and we descended three steps into a sunken den decorated with plush carpets and dark walls. He offered me

AlinaThe pain was immediate and excruciating but I kept myself together. I didn't cry, I didn't move, I didn't react. Not for long anyway. It was a good thing that I had learned self-control. “Mother!” Sebastian yelled angrily. He walked up to his mother and pulled her away from me. “Now you lis

AlinaPanic engulfed me as I stared at the moving body, there was no way I was going to be part of a murder case, not when I had just started living, not with everything else.“What the hell have you done?
