CADEN'S POV

I don't do it immediately.

Sorren has been loyal to me for years and was my iron fist across the regions.

When a Pack fails to keep their end of our agreement, I send him to balance things out and only in a few instances does he fail and I'll have to step in.

But for the past four years, season after season, he's done more for me than most of my inner circle.

There was no reason to suspect his loyalty had gone sour but he's the only person I could pinpoint.

It scared me

  • His Defiant Little Breeder   Chapter 157

Caden's body had stopped shaking somehow along the journey and his eyes were still yellow but there was a lightness to it.Like he was here but not fully here with me.I'd felt him sucking my energy the way those rogues did but for the first time, I was more than glad the curse I had was becoming a blessing.I thought about waiting for some more time to see if he'd completely come back to me but I remembered my child and the evil glint in Derrick's eyes. There's no time.So I crept along the lines, away from the Packs but it was quite difficult to stay clear since the West were joined together.Only Iron Claw maintained it's own boundaries and distance, most other Packs just bled into each other.Caden thought we were playing a game again, this time, not chase, but sneaking around. He was so.m carefree I couldn't believe it.Sofie played with him, indulging and making him laugh in wolf form more than I'

  • His Defiant Little Breeder   Chapter 156

Sticks and stones dug into my body but I couldn't care less, not when my life was on the line.I'd tried escaping several times since this ordeal started but there was something about this one.I was ready to tear into anything and anyone that'll try to stop me.Except it wasn't a who, it was a fricking what.I forgot to mention, the river wasn't some east going water body, this thing was violent. It's the Midlands for a reason. While the west had very fertile land, our Pack lacked food because our Alpha was exhausted and after losing his mate, my mum, he'd sort of given up on life, and just kept making bad mistakes Most people around here were feeding just fine.My head hit one heavy rock before I was thrown into the river, and the current rushed into my nostrils and eyes, throwing me up and down.I heard Caden's grunt but it sounded so far away and I should be feeling really bad for not preparing him

  • His Defiant Little Breeder   Chapter 155

The doors opened and I sat up, expecting more poisoned meat. It's probably been weeks or something, I had no way to count, I was usually asleep most times anyway. When meat wasn't thrown at me, I opened my eyes and then woke up completely when I saw Derrick standing there, grinning. I shifted into human form to speak to him. "You should come with a warning bell," I grunted, sitting up. "You know," he said, folding his arms, "I've never really noticed your body." I swallowed, coiling deeper into Caden's body. "You're fucking sick!" I snapped. "We've established that long before now." "What do you want Derrick?" "One day you'll call me the appropriate title and maybe I'll have my cock shoved so far up your ass you'll do anything I say." My wolf growled but I held her back, we're not supposed to let him know how much stronger we've gotten. "Is that what you came here to do? To rehash your sick fantasies? I thought you wanted to be King." "I already am. The ceremony was last n

  • His Defiant Little Breeder   Chapter 154

Caden's hand was on my back, unmoving until we got to the dungeons. He moved me into the first one, my one time second home and I finally let that tear fall. "Tie her up!" Derrick yelled from outside. "Except you want me dead, Derrick, you better don't do that." "You won't tell me what to do with you!" "You don't understand," I let out a dry laugh, "but you see, you need me for your army, and you need me to keep Caden under your leash. All he knows is Maya and that pull you somehow have on him. It's not permanent either, but the mate bond is. Nothing is stronger than it. I've overexerted myself twice with barely enough time apart. Even speaking right now is more work. If you put that fucking silver chain around me, I'll die and we both know one thing, Derrick, you need. me. alive. Your dream empire depends on it!" "You are stupid if you think I need you! I have your son and if this brute misbehaves, I'll kill him!" I laughed, "you think you can kill Caden?" "I have enough soldi

  • His Defiant Little Breeder   Chapter 153

I woke up the next morning and the consequences of ignoring my energy levels visited me.The suicidal thoughts were back and funny enough, the only thing stopping me was these silver chains.Guess they wanted to kill me in their own time. But the thoughts though, they were persistent. It was like I didn't own my own mind anymore.Nothing made sense, nothing was worth fighting for.My mate, my child, my Pack, nothing was worth this pain.My wolf was whining in my soul, her pain worse than mine, which was saying a lot because I felt like I was being slowly roasted.Silver had an uncanny way of making you weak. Not too fast and not too dramatic, you'll just be dissipating gradually and soon, drop down, depleted. And with nothing to take from except my life, I was already on the ground too, it hurt so bad I was sobbing.Add the emotional pain to it and you can guess it right, I was in the worst situation I've ever been in my life..But then, fate decided to make things worse.I'd heard ab

  • His Defiant Little Breeder   Chapter 152

"I might not be able to make him hurt you, but I have hands. I'll do that myself," the Alpha called, venom in his tone.Anger and anxiety warred in my mind, this wasn't how this was supposed to go.The plan was horrible, I know but we were so fucking close.Maybe he'd actually known right from the beginning, which is why the whole Pack was silent. They were setting up here."Leave us alone, Derrick. You've gotten your rogue army. I just want to take my family back home.""I can't allow that," he said like he was talking about the weather and not about enslaving my mate and me, "you're still very much useful. I found another settlement of rogues deep in the Darlina mountains. Who's gonna cure them for me? Your son? I haven't seen Vera in a whole day and that's concerning. Can't lose my two weapons at once. And I do need the growling animal on your head to keep you in line. So you see, you have to stop doing stupid shit like trying to run away."He dragged me back to the Pack, I didn't

  • His Defiant Little Breeder   Chapter 149

There's no right words to describe how I was feeling. When that knife had sunk into him yesterday, I'd nearly lost my mind. Then I was so glad it hadn't worked but now I realised it just needed time to marinate, to fight off his powerful inhibition and now that it's won, Derrick was grinning like a

  • His Defiant Little Breeder   Chapter 148

He muttered my name again, like a stage actor trying out expressions.Sad. Excited. Terrified. And soon, I realized why.A guard grabbed my arm from behind and before I could pull him off, Caden launched himself at the male and tore him to shreds."Caden, we have to go find..."My words died on my

It was daytime when my eyes fluttered open and at first, I was disoriented.I made to rub my swollen belly but I found nothing there. In shock, I jumped to sit, looked at my stomach and remembered.Remembered Caden coming to save me but stabbed by that knife, how it didn't work and how Vera took me

  • His Defiant Little Breeder   Chapter 146

I don't know how, but soon, I began hearing many other warriors joining us, some in carriages, others in wolf forms."What's happening?" I gasp, sitting up but the pain made me relax back. That wasn't any better as the carriage was going too fast.Sofie couldn't heal me yet, she had to recover from
