CHAPTER 35

"You're MY fiancée now, and you're coming home with ME. That's the only way I can protect you."

She opens her mouth to protest but catches herself, realizing from the adamant look on HIS face that HE'S not going to take no for an answer.

We drive in silence for a while until KYOLINE finally breaks the silence. "I'VE missed DEBORAH, L'OREAL, and DAMON. So much. That's the only good thing about going back to New York—that I'LL be with them again and be able to take care of them." When we get to the hotel, HE takes her up to the room HE booked. It is a lovely suite, but there is just one bedroom.and one bed.

"Having, um, rooms, yeah?" she inquires.

"No. I have to watch you at night."

Her jaw is hanging open, but seeing that HE'S not going to change HIS mind, she gathers her bag and heads into the bathroom, closing the door.

As HE hears the taps being turned on, HE drags a hand across HIS face. She'll be lucky if she doesn't send HIM flying off the bed this night as soon as HE'S asleep.
