Kael's wolf was restless, pacing, growling and agitated. He stood on the highest balcony of the obsidian skyscraper that served as both his business headquarters and his hidden fortress. The city below him pulsed with noise - flashing lights, honking horns from cars, humans buzzing around like bees. None of these was enough to settle the unease of his wolf.
His wolf was on edge. He gripped the marble rail, his knuckles turning bone white. He had experienced his wolf being on edge before, several times, but this was different.
Behind him footsteps echoed.
"Supreme Alpha Kael," Roran's steady voice came first - deep, disciplined and ever loyal. Kael's beta."You need to take a look at this."
Roran had come to stand beside the alpha at the balcony, passing him a stack of documents which Kael didn't take. "Did something happen?" Roran asked, sensing the mood.
"Maybe he had a dream where a sexy siren bit his neck and left without saying goodbye." Lucien said, rubbing his chin dramatically.
Lucien, his Gamma, was always the one with a smirk and a punchline, most times even when death was on the table sitting across them. He was tall and slim with a messy copper hair and eyes too sharp to match his boyish charm. Sometimes, Kael asked himself while he had chosen him as a Gamma. But yes, Lucien was equal to the task. He was ruthless and very clever when that was needed.
Kael's jaw tensed. "Nothing happened" He didn't turn but his voice was colder than the wind around them.
"Right," Roran said dryly. "You've been fine all morning. That's why your wolf is practically clawing through your skin and your scent's like a damn thunderstorm."
"You know, I was starting to wonder if..." Lucien was saying with a crazy voice when Kael shot him a glance.
"Okay, okay" He put his hands up "No jokes before 12 am."
Roran stepped closer "We've got pressing issues" He said cautiously. "The vampires in the North are rallying. The witches are retaliating and some idiot bloodsuckers are trading demon-brand artifacts like candy on Halloween.”
Kael finally turned, his eyes flashing a dull, melted gold. His wolf snarled, impatient and untamed. His head snapped towards his Beta, eyes burning "How does that have to do with us, Roran? Any thing that doesn't involve our race should not be brought to me."
Roran sighed "But Kael, you told me to update you about the witches and vampires."
"We will talk about this matter later." Kael's voice was cold.
Roran stared at him in disbelief as he was about to say something.
"Let it go, Roran," Lucien said quickly.
Without another word, Kael turned and stalked towards the elevator.
Roran and Lucien exchanged glances.
"Going to the office?" Roran asked. The alpha didn't give any reply.
"Where else" Lucien rolled his eyes. "Where else does a grumpy billionaire alpha go to scare mortals into shitting their thousand dollar suits?"
Kael Wayne, the legendary name of the Wayne Family, who were famous in both the human world and supernatural world. He was the iconic CEO of Wayne Company in the human world. The company was run behind the scene by him, not many souls were fortunate enough to see him. Non-important meetings were held by his Beta and Gamma, while he only held important meetings with important people. He was a billionaire whom people feared and respected.
He was currently the Supreme Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack, the pack established by him which he didn't share with either the vampires or witches. He leads all lycans, werewolves and their packs.
The majority of his staff were supernatural creatures, not many were humans.
An hour later,
"You are telling me," Kael snapped at one unfortunate CFO, " —that after a month of planning, your team still hasn't secured the permits?"
He sat at the head of the obsidian glass table, flanked by his advisors and board members. High-powered men and women with polished smiles, every executive sat stiffly. They were barely breathing.
The temperature in the room was capable of freezing lava over and over again.
Reports were read cautiously. Quarterly profits, expansion update... but every little flaw was met with Kael's ice-cold and withering eyes. "We were waiting for legal...." The CFO shivered trying to keep his voice steady.
"Then fire legal," Kael snarled, his eyes sharp "And fire yourself while you are at it."
The man's face visibly paled.
"Si…sir—"
Kael's deep voice dropped an octave. "Why do you stutter in my presence? It's irritating!" His gaze swept throughout the room full of seven people from his board of directors, not one of them could dare look him in the eyes.
The air in the room felt thinner. A woman from the marketing department trembled.
Roran, who was still seated at the side, watched carefully.
Something seemed off with the Alpha. Kael was always cold, but this..... this was lethal.
Even Lucien was not in the mood to crack a joke.
Another man nervously coughed.
Kael's eyes sliced towards him. "Are you sick?" His voice was laced with irritation.
"No—no, Supreme Alpha..... I mean, CEO Wayne." He had almost forgotten they were in the midst of humans and so the Supreme Alpha title had to be dropped.
Kael stood so abruptly, the room jolted. He inhaled and exhaled trying to calm himself down but it was useless. He opened his eyes which flickered gold and then turned to black immediately. That wasn't a good sign.
Roran saw this, standing up too. "All of you leave. This meeting is over."
No one argued. In fact they were relieved as they all nearly stampeded to get out.
Kael remained standing, his back turned to the giant windows. His shoulders are rigid.
Roran waited until the door closed and turned back, scrutinizing the Alpha. "What the hell is going on with you, man?"
Lucien walked around the table, his hands deep in his pockets. "I'd blamed a bad hookup, but we both know the only thing Kael's fucking is his own temper."
"Not now, Lucien," Roran said.
Kael turned, glaring at him.
"What?" Lucien asked innocently. "Take a look at him."
Kael spun, a growl coming out of his mouth - his eyes glowing faintly golden.
"I should rip your tongue out."
Lucien gave a small smirk. "Then you had missed my charming company. Even though you don't admit it, Kael . You so much love me!"
Roran shook his head in disbelief at Lucien. He faced the Alpha again. "Kael—"
"Address me properly!!!." He snarled in his alpha tone.
Upon hearing the alpha tone, Lucien and Roran couldn't help but lower their heads in submission. They were surprised by his sudden rampage.
The alpha tone commands respect. It can shape opinions and guide choices of lycans and werewolves, if used in a good way by the alpha. It was no joke, especially when it came from the Supreme Alpha. Lower rank wolves wouldn't be able to withstand it. If a Lycan or werewolf denies an alpha tone the consequence for them was the same as physical torment. And no one between Roran and Lucien would've wanted that to ever happen to them.
"Yes, Supreme Alpha" They both said in unison.
Roran glared at Lucien while Lucien straightened, looking more serious.
"Let's go," Kael said, marching out.
Thankfully, Seraphina entered into DarkSlade's Enterprise and the CEO wasn't in his office. The man she spilled coffee on plus the receptionist she met at the entrance of the company made her morning so frustrating and annoying. Before she got in, the receptionist eyed her dress, "None of your peasants boyfriend works here." Boyfriend? Peasants? Seraphina rolled her eyes. Of course, she is mocking her dress. She narrowed her eyes "My name is Seraphina Lightwood. I'm the current secretary to the CEO." She scoffed. "You can't be. Our company is professional and.. and we couldn't have hired someone like you." Seraphina wasn't in the mood for long talks and exchange of words. She brought out her work ID card and showed it to the receptionist rendering her speechless. Seraphina walked out of there. "What a bitch!" Arriving in her office, she glanced around. "Nice. Much more than I expected." She made herself comfortable on the chair. Before she could get too relaxed, the landline
Seraphina woke up late again because of her nightmares. The alarm she had set rang a long time ago. Sometimes she wonders why she sets an alarm when her nightmares are always going to wake her up .. late. Deep down, she knows that for the rest of her life these nightmares will keep haunting her until she avenges her mother's death. She gets up from her bed and goes towards the bathroom in a hurry. After completing her business, she wore her disguise. Looking at her reflection on the mirror, she sighs. "I miss my curves." The girl that stared back at her in a long skirt and a long sleeved shirt wasn't looking bad at all. Just simple in her thick nerdy glasses and dyed red hair. Seraphina rushed out of her apartment, standing on the curb while waiting for a cab to hail. She waves for a cab to stop and she enters, grateful to have found one as she was already late on her first day of work. "Way to start a mission, Seraphina." She says then she remembers something and gasps. "Oh, no!!
Inside the presidential suite where Kael was still recovering, the sun had risen but he refused to let the light in. His mood for the past one week reflected the darkness in the room."Roran, Lucien." He mind linked his Beta and gamma, ignoring the fact that Sage was seated right next to him with fruits in her hand and a smile on her face. "Yes, Supreme alpha," they answered in unison. "Get in here now!" Saying that, he stood up from the bed, stretching his back. Sage's lustful eyes followed every movement. "How are you doing today, babe?" Kael didn't glance at her. There was a knock on the door and by their scent, Kael knew who they were. "Come in." "Woah, man. It's dark in here." Lucien grumbled. "What are you, a vamp?"Sage hissed in displeasure at the blabber mouth Lucien. That's when he turned to where she was seated and frowned on seeing her. They had never gotten along with each other. "Is the poison all gone now, Kael?" Roran asked, shutting the door before walking a few
They sit around the table while Mr Cartwright stands in front of the screen, which shows the information of their next target. Kieran comes to sit beside Seraphina. "Long time no see, Sera." Seraphina rolls her eyes and chuckles. "We talked over the phone two days ago." "Yes, but it wasn't even up to two minutes before you said you needed to get busy and shoved me off like a piece of trash." "I… Alright, alright. I'm sorry." She cooed. "Apologizing can't bribe me into forgiving you. I need you to—" "Need me to do what, Kieran." She laughed in that beautiful way that lightens Kieran's day. "Dinner? Nine o'clock?" Seraphina squints her eyes. "Hmmm..”She needed a little time off and some moments with Kieran won't hurt. “No problem, but it all depends on the mission given, okay?" Kieran smiles. They shook hands as if a deal had been made. Seraphina giggles again, shaking her head as she turns to pay attention to what Mr. Cartwright has to say. Kieran stares at her for a long t
"Mama!! Mama!!”Seraphina jerk open her eyes and quickly sat up.. panting heavily. Her head ached and her hands moved to her forehead wiping off beads of sweat. She reached out for the glass of water and pills on the nightstand. She stared at it and sighed deeply before gulping it down. She inhaled deeply, her hand massaging her forehead. It's been 12 years since that night. 12 years since she's been having these nightmares. It traumatized her. "I love you, my firefly." A drop of tears escaped her eyes. She wiped it off harshly. Her hands curled into a fist. She got up from the bed and sided the curtains. As soon as she did, the strong sun rays fell on her face giving her warmth after that terrorizing dream. For some reason, since a week now, she hasn't felt complete. She couldn't describe why she felt this way. It felt as if she lost a part of her or a memory and it's not because of the nightmares, something else. What happened last week especially that night? The only thing she
The night was cool and serene. The kind of night made for warm milk, whispered lullabies and bedtime stories."Mama, one more story!" Seraphina pleaded, her brown eyes were wide with stubbornness. Her ink black curly hair scattered all over the white pillow. Her mother, Alina, smiled as she brushed a curl from Seraphina's forehead. "Only one more, my little firefly. Then you go to bed. Okay?"Seraphina nodded solemnly clutching her stuffed lion to her chest. "Okay mama. Tell me the one about the lycans and werewolves."And so, Alina wove the tale of a mighty lycan who protected a weak magical creature, his heart glowing with love for the creature. As the story ended, Alina's voice softened."You know, Seraphina – sometimes the most powerful things in the world are hidden inside the smallest hearts"Alina smiled.Seraphina Gomez was an adorable nine years old girl. She was the first and only child of her parents who loved her to the brim.Alina kissed her daughter's cheek, lingered at
