Emma POV Everyone was rushing around trying to get the dining room ready. Emma and Patricia already had most of the food done, they just needed a few ingredients to finish the rest. Patricia was pulling out the last two pies out of the oven and sitting them on the counter to cool while Emma was putting the icebox pie in the refrigerator to cool. They looked around the kitchen at their handiwork. Food was piled everywhere, not a single open space remained on the counters, island, or table. As they finished cooking, Vicki would put the food on serving trays and put the pots and pans in the dishwasher. Emma went out to the dining room to check on the progress, she was amazed at how quickly everything was coming together in such a short time. Every one of the staff was more than happy to lend a helping hand. She walked out of the dining room to see Logan coming in the front door carrying bags of the groceries that she had sent him out for. She was worried about him. She could feel hi
Emma POV Emma breathed in the evening air and felt a sense of calm wash over her. She had decided that she would just take a short walk to clear her mind and calm her emotions. She didn’t know how far she had walked, but she wasn’t ready to turn back. She felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. It was Logan. She pressed the power button and turned off the screen. She kept walking. She had walked so far, she didn’t even know where she was. She came up on the fence that surrounded the city. She turned left and walked along the fence. She wasn’t sure where she was, but she knew how to get to Logan’s house from the main gate. She felt her phone vibrate again. It was a message this time from Logan. Where are you? Everyone is waiting on you to come down. We won’t start without you. She turned the screen off and put the phone back in her pocket. How dare he? She thought to herself. She had been so excited for today, she planned and organized and worked her ass off in the hot kitchen all
Emma POV Emma’s hand was gripping the phone tightly, she tried to speak but she was paralyzed with fear. She couldn’t move, couldn’t speak. The wolf walked up to the fence and stopped. It just stood there, staring at her. It raised its nose and sniffed the air. When it brought its nose back down, its teeth were bared, but not like it was about to attack, but like it was smiling. Emma stumbled backwards as the wolf leaned back on its hind legs and jumped, high, clearing the top of the fence, and landing inside. She could hear Logan’s voice screaming through the speaker, she tried to talk to him, tell him what was happening, but she still couldn’t speak. The wolf didn’t move, it just stood there, still staring at her, sniffing the air. She knew she needed to run, but she couldn’t move. Goddess, help me, she prayed, please Goddess please. Emma pleaded. She tried to take a step back and was relieved when her foot actually moved, so she took another step. As she moved backwards, the w
Logan POV He could hear Emma through the door, yelling at the doctor, telling him she was fine and she was, under no circumstances, staying the night in the hospital, she was going home. He heard the doc threaten to give her a sedative. Then he heard Emma threaten him back, telling him that if he did that, when she woke up, she would rip him to shreds. Logan chuckled. He pushed open the door and on the other side he found the doc standing over her, needle in his hand, with a very red face. Emma staring daggers at him. “Doc, it’s ok. Let her come home, I will keep an eye on her.” Logan said. “With all due respect Alpha, you were already supposed to be keeping an eye on her. Now this has happened.” he said scoldingly. “I know Doc, it won’t happen again. I promise. From now on, she will have a guard with her at all times.” Logan told him. “But-” Emma began but Logan cut her off. “That’s non-negotiable.” Logan said firmly. Emma didn’t try to argue. The look on Logan’s face
Emma POV Emma didn’t sleep well. She tossed and turned the rest of the night, dreams of the wolf plaguing her sleep. She would wake up, drenched in sweat and shaking. Every time she jerked awake, Logan woke up. He would try to hold her and comfort her, but she would just push him away. That didn’t stop him from trying though. Her leg was throbbing, the pain pills weren’t helping. Logan told her that he would ask the doctor if he could get her something stronger. The pain had gotten so bad at one point that it made her sick to her stomach. Luckily there was a small trash can nearby that Logan was able to grab for her just in time to keep her from throwing up all over the bed and the floor. Logan put the back of his hand to her forehead to see if she was warm. He was frowning and he looked concerned. She had laid back down, hoping to go back to sleep, and when she couldn’t, she asked Logan if he would get her some more of the whiskey he had given her before. He poured her half of a
Emma POV Emma was still in a lot of pain but she was finally cleared of infection. The only time Logan left her side was if he had a meeting or when he was training. She was still upset with him for how he had acted towards her, but she was a bit more understanding. He had told her why he had gotten upset about the dress and she had felt bad about it. She couldn’t believe that he had done all that for her. Hell, he could’ve at least put a note on the outside of the garment bag to let her know to stay away from it. Lane and Brian had come back the day before to let Logan know that they weren’t able to find the wolf, they had lost his tracks. That news had sent Logan into a downward spiral. The guilt he felt over what happened to her was all she could feel from him, that and anger. She didn’t know how to help him, didn’t know what she could even do. She had called her father and told him about the attack. Shadow Moon, Black Night, and Blood River’s packs were doing a full-scale sea
Logan POV Logan had spent most of the afternoon on the phone. Every pack in the state was nervous, and had every right to be. There had been no trace of the wolves that attacked Morgan, and no trace of the wolf that attacked Emma. It made no sense, how could they just disappear without a trace? They had gotten nowhere with the outlaying states and their packs. They all said they were at peace. Saying he was frustrated was an understatement. The last phone call he had was a pack from the state that bordered theirs to the north. They were the Black Shadow pack and their alpha was Lucian. He offered to send guards and trackers to help with the search. At first Logan had refused, saying that the offer was appreciated but he didn’t want to put their pack out. Although Lucian wasn’t taking no for an answer. He insisted that he help, he said that he has some of the best trackers in the world. Logan finally agreed. Lucian would have them leave the next day and they would be at Logan’s pa
Logan POV “He’s on his way.” Logan said after he hung up the phone. Dylan was still trying to break through to Emma’s mind, and still wasn’t having any luck. Logan did the only thing he could do, pray. He was still holding her hand, still whispering in her ear to come back to him. There was a knock on the door and the doctor walked in. He sat his bag down on the bed beside Emma and pulled out a pen light. He pulled open her eye lids and moved the light back and forth in front of her eyes. After doing that, he pulled out a stethoscope and put it to her chest and listened, while he was listening to her chest, he put two fingers on her wrist. Patrick straightened up and looked at Logan, putting the stethoscope back in his bag. “Her pupils are reactive but her breathing is shallow and her heartbeat is a little slow. Whatever is going on with her, she seems to be stuck in her mind. She seems to be in a coma.” Patrick told him. “How could she be in a coma?” Logan asked him. “I’m
