“You know what, are you starving?” Mariah asked suddenly.

Alaric frowned and glanced at her. “I am, but I am surprised you just talked about it.”

“Well, shall we go find something to eat?”

Alaric sighed. “I would love that but this is the human realm, they hardly let me inside their inns. I do not know why.”

“Inns?” Mariah frowned. “Why?”

“I do not know.” He stood up.

Staring at him, Mariah started laughing after figuring out why. “You dress like this always, right?”

Alaric frowned and stared d

“You are a vampire,” Alaric added and he seemed lost in thought as he put pieces together. “And also a demon, and she is a werewolf,” he pointed at Aliyah, “and your identities combined are what make up Mariah,” he smiled, so proud of himself for figuring that out.Edward let go of Aliyah’s hand, with the little blood from her and his demon’s healing properties, he would be better in a matter of minutes. He glanced at Alaric, knowing no one could have told him about that but his daughter. “You two seem to have talked a lot.”Knowing what he meant, Alaric smiled sheepishly, “she explained a lot of things to me and I am happy I followed up. However,” his smile dropped instantly as he glanced at Asher, “I still cannot figure out why that woman’s power is in him.”“Sadly, none of us can. She just showed up one day and started claiming him to be her son, her dark prince,” Edward answered.“You did not mate with her?” Alaric raised an eyebrow.Edward glared at him. “I can never mate with th

Alaric smiled but it was obvious that it didn’t reach his eyes. “If I did, you shall not be alive to find out,” and right then, right before everyone’s eyes, golden scales started appearing on his body. They covered his skin and up to his face, making him look like he was clothed in golden armor. His long white hair was flowing around him in the gentle breeze emanating from him. Alaric then point his sword at him, “let me see how strong thy are, angelic warrior.”If the man wasn’t scared before, he was now. If the God killer can summon his dragon scales, it only means one thing, he was one step to taking his dragon form. He gulped, considering his life choices, whether he should stay and fight or should he flee and report to his god?“In case you do not know, I am only a step away from recovering the last of my strength, and you of all people should know that a fight with a worthy opponent can break the last shard of a seal. I thank you, for coming at the right moment. I was hoping to

Alaric was stunned and it was obvious in his golden eyes that that was not something he had put into consideration. He glanced at Edward and Edward gave a slight nod and his gaze strayed to Asher who was still holding his chest from the blow he took from him earlier. Alaric was finding it hard to believe, if Mariah was the demon king’s daughter, doesn’t that mean that son of Aspa is her brother, thereby making her… “Mariah is the daughter of Aspa?” Impossible, Alaric thought, he never perceived a trait of Aspa in her.“What? No!” Edward said, “That woman will never be my wife, not even in any life she is to reincarnate.”Alaric frowned, what is he saying? Is he taking him for a fool? “I may be lost in years, but I am no fool, Demon King. Your son clearly has Aspa’s powers, if she is not his mother then who is?”“I am,” Aliyah said behind him and he turned to see the woman walking out from the broken gates.Alaric frowned, he perused her and could clearly see resemblance to her and Mar

Asher was shocked when he heard what Alaric called him. He hasn’t heard that name for over a hundred years now and the name brought back sad memories. He frowned, wondering how Alaric was able to know about that wicked goddess who tried to ruin his life. “What did you call you me?”Alaric smiled but before he could answer, Edward appeared. They both held a stare-down contest until Edward broke it by glancing at Asher. “The demon king, finally I am making your acquaintance. You do know, I have always known the demon palace to be on the left side of the West hill. But alas, what I had witnessed there was an abandoned palace. I had to track your presence to this one.”Edward stared at Alaric with a raised eyebrow, he was a little surprised that the man knew of the previous demon palace. “The previous kings dwelled in that palace.”Alaric nodded, “I see.”“Of what do we owe this unpleasant visit?” Edward asked. He accessed the man and could finally understand what Asher had been saying. T

“Dad, please, I have to go.” Mariah pleaded for the hundredth time from her room. She never expected her father to cast a spell on her, preventing her from teleporting. She really needs to check on Alaric, and she can’t contact Dionysus in any other way. Because they were always in water, Merfolk hardly used gadgets, so almost none had a cell phone. It was not a problem to them, after all, they just need to think of where they want to go and teleport there.“Mom, I beg of you, help me and talk to Dad. Really, how long are you guys planning on keeping me locked up here? It’s been two days!” She cried. The guards stationed outside of her room glanced at each other and shrugged. They had been as surprised as every other servant when the king told them to guard the princess’s door and prevent her from leaving. Right outside her window, guards are guarding there as well, preventing her from jumping out of the window in her wolf form. For two days now, they have all taken turns watching the

Dionysus frowned when he heard what the man said. “You’ve been outside?”“Nay,” Alaric shook his head, still admiring the drawing on the walls with his back to Dionysus.“Then how can you tell?” Dionysus asked, watching the man, wondering if he should perform a sneak attack now, will he succeed? Mariah’s face flashed in his mind, and he sighed. Well, he can tell her the man was awake when he did it, but he just wasn’t fast enough?“I can hear the creek flowing and the songs of the birds. Also, we are the only demons here.”Now that answer was enough to shock Dionysus and bring him out of his chaotic thoughts. “How can you tell that?”This time, Alaric turned to him with a smile. “I can sense around me.”“I see,” Dionysus nodded, “so you have a high sensing skill.”“Skill?” Alaric tilted his head to the side.Dionysus was shaken at how cute and adorable he looked, surprising himself with his own thought and glancing away. He cleared his throat and nodded, “yeah, a talent or whatever yo
