MEGAN'S POV

My words seemed to throw Austin off balance. He stared at me, blinking rapidly. I could almost hear his heart beating fast. “What do you say, Alpha Austin Sinclair? I thought you wanted to save your little dream girl? I don't have all the time in the world.”

“No, absolutely not.” He finally blurted out, to my surprise. My eyes widened in astonishment. “What?” I snapped at him.

He shook his head." I said, No. I cannot give up my position in the Wolf's Joint Empire."

“Then, we have absolutely nothing to talk about, Mr. Sinclair.”

I turned to leave, but Kayla's voice made me turn around. She ran straight to Austin, shedding her usual false tears—nothing new.

“Austin, your ex-wife is so cold-hearted. You know how important this eatery is to me, don't you? Just because she's whoring herself to the Alpha Prince, she has succeeded in getting me thrown out of here.” Kayla sniffed pretentiously.

I shook my head in disgust. A drama queen will always be a drama queen. Kayla sharply turned to me. “Austin doesn't have to plead with you. The Alpha King and my late father were good friends. I can always get myself into this restaurant whenever I want.”

“Okay. That's absolutely fine.” I turned my gaze and saw my father walking towards me. Turning back at Kayla, I snapped. “Since your father and the king were friends. You can tell the king yourself.”

She gulped hard nervously as they saw the entourage walking towards us. The bodyguards stood beside him as my father approached us. My face beamed, but I tried to conceal it. He got to where we were and stopped.

“Your Majesty.” Kayla nervously chuckled, “You're here just in time. Austin here delivered his endorsement papers to your Pack's headquarters a while ago, and he hasn't gotten any response. Do you mind if I call you uncle? I mean, I remember my father and you were friends. I could have even become good friends with your only daughter, the Moon Heiress, if she hadn't been out of the country for ages.” She continued, laughing mildly.

My father stared coldly at her before answering. “Your father? Who is that? If you're talking about Mr. Johnson, you weren't friends; he was just an errand boy in my company. So, you should know your place.”

Kayla's cheeks flushed in embarrassment. Hence, my father continued. “I'm here for Alpha Austin Sinclair of the Crescent Moon Pack.”

“See, Austin.” Her face lit up almost immediately. “I told you I'll get you that endorsement with the Moon Royal Pack.”

My eyes widened, and I scoffed in disbelief. Such a lying snake! Even without hearing what my father has to say, she's already taking credit.

Austin gulped. “Thank you, Your Majesty.”

“Here.” My father handed the file to him, and he reluctantly took the files. As he flipped the pages, his eyes grew in shock. “Transfer of shares?”

They turned their gazes at me with questioning glares. However, I just stood there, staring blankly without saying a word. “Your Majesty, you want Austin to sell his shares in the Wolf's Joint Empire to you? And you're willing to offer any amount? Why? Aren't you supposed to grant his endorsement and…”

“Looks like you still haven't learned not to speak until you're asked to, huh?” My father snorted as he reached for his phone. He texted a message, and instantly, Kayla's phone rang.

She stared at the screen with mixed feelings as she hesitantly picked the call up, placing the phone on her right ear. “You silly girl. What have you done? Who did you offend? Why is the family business going down? Even the Alpha King, who invested billions of dollars into our business, has just withdrawn one of the biggest contracts, and now we're facing so many problems. Do you plan to pull us down? I'm cutting your allowance in half," her uncle's ear-deafening scream came.

“It's time your family taught you some manners. Go on, Alpha Austin. Sign the papers, and I'll have the money transferred into your account this minute.” My father added.

Austin stared at me in shock as he picked up the pen to sign. For a reason I can't explain, I just wished he wouldn't sign. I can't tell why I'm feeling this way. Don't I want him far away from me? Why do I feel bad that he will be leaving the company? Isn't that what I wanted?

Suddenly he fumbled the paper and threw it on the ground, stepping on it aggressively. “I will never sign these.”

“Look. I know how much you want to win the presidential election, Austin Sinclair. If you sign these papers… Don't worry, I have more copies. I'll make sure you win the election and…” My father was still speaking when Austin interrupted him. “With all due respect, I refuse, Your Majesty.”

My eyes grew in astonishment and a feeling I couldn't explain as I stared at him. “I would rather give up the presidency than give up Megan.” His voice was firm and decisive.

“Nothing will tear our love apart, not even the king.” He coldly uttered.

My eyes went straight to my father, who was already fuming with anger. His eyes gleam in a bright golden color as he stares hard at Austin, whose eyeballs were also glowing red.

I could see that if I didn't intervene, they might get into a fight, and of course, my father would hurt him so bad. Hence, I ran to my father and patted his chest gently. “My King, I promise, I can handle this on my own. Come on, let's go.” I convinced him as I held his hand and walked away while Austin stared at me in a mixture of confusion and shock.

Kayla's eyes grew. She turned back at Austin and got smacked. “That ex-wife of yours is really a cheap whore and…”

She tried to hold his arm, but he pushed her off angrily. “You started this. I know this is where your family always comes to have anniversary dinners, but that doesn't give you the right to call Megan names. I promised your late father that I'd take care of you, but I won't let you talk down on my wife. You pleaded with me to take you here, saying that you were missing your family, and now this?” Austin roared at her before walking away.

Kayla's fist clenched. “This is all that cheap slut's fault.” She fumed.

MEGAN'S POV I held onto my head as I felt my eyes closing. My vision was blurry. “What did you do to me?”He cackled mischievously and sat down with his legs crossed. “Drink wasn't the only surprise tonight. Of course, I know you would find out that the drink was drugged.” Then, he pointed at the incense burner on the table, and I breathed heavily, trying hard to keep my eyes open. “That…. I already took the antidote, so it won't affect me or anyone in this room except you, Miss Prescott.” He laughed maliciously. “You're…. You're evil and don't deserve to live.” I managed to speak because I was almost losing my voice. He roared with laughter like I had just given him a compliment. “There's no need to act tough, Miss Prescott. Don't worry, I'll go gentle with you. Look at you now.” He snapped his finger, and everyone in the room left instantly. In the twinkle of an eye, the room became empty. Bending closer to me, he ran his fingers all over my body. “You look like a helpless litt

MEGAN'S POV I sat on the chair facing the desktop on the table, lost in thought and staring blankly at the screen of the computer. Then came a faint knock on the door of my office. I didn't even realize that the door of the office was swung open until Claire tapped the table and I blinked hard, turning to her. “Y… Yes?”“Miss Prescott, are you okay? You look lost, and that's bad for work.” She chipped in. I forced a smile. “It's nothing. How may I help you?” “Oh, you don't need to help me because you'll be needing a lot of that help for yourself.” She jokingly snapped. “I mean, as the project manager, you'll have to meet with Mr. Davison. He's quite a difficult man to please. You'll need him to sign, and then we can proceed with the other facilities.” She tried to sound caring, but in the real sense, it felt like she was mocking me.“Mr. Davison?” I mouthed with my eyes rolling. “Get me an appointment with him.” I readily replied, and she smiled mischievously.Picking up the files

AUSTIN'S POVI walked into the store, and Kayla rushed to me with wide arms and a beaming smile. “Oh, Austin. How sweet of you! You spoil me so much. Thank you for buying the entire store for me. You really…” She ran her hands from my chest down to my stomach. “You really didn't have to.” Immediately, I stared hard at her with arched eyebrows. “What are you talking about?” I pushed her hand away. “Who said I bought you anything?”Megan stared at both of us with an expressionless glare as she clutched my shoulder bag. The second saleslady chuckled nervously and started. “Uhm… Alpha, you said you bought the store for your wife. I naturally assumed… I mean, I saw you both.” She pointed at Austin and Kayla while talking. “I've seen you both on TV together, so she must be your wife, right?”“This is ridiculous!” Megan shook her head as she turned to leave, but I grabbed her arm. “No, Megan. You're my wife.”For a second, she became numb. After a few minutes of silence, she turned around

ALICE'S POV I drove into the mall and parked the car in the garage. Kayla and I walked into the mall laughing and chatting. However, our laughter was cut short the moment we sighted Megan shopping in the clothes section. Kayla scoffed in disgust as she cleared her throat noisily to get Megan's attention. Megan turned slightly with her face indifferent. “Oh, look who we have here. I wonder how many times you had to spread your legs to be able to afford that.” She pointed at the dress Megan was holding. Ignoring her, Megan rolled her eyes and proceeded to take out another dress from the display shelf. Furious, Kayla grabbed her arm rudely. “Hey. I'm talking to you.” “She thinks she can buy a discount dress at a luxury store.” I taunted, staring hatefully at her. Kayla and I laughed loudly. “And pretend to be a socialite.” I added.Kayla shook her head in a feign of pity. “You know what? It's actually kind of sad. You can put lipstick on a pig, but that doesn't stop it from being a p

MEGAN'S POVLucien and I were seated at a fancy restaurant with the piping hot delicacies served in front of us. I sipped the cocktail slowly as he started. “How is your new job treating you? You know you could have just started as the MD?” “I don't want that yet, Lucien. I just started, and I hope it gets better.” I simply uttered, spooning the creamy pasta into my mouth. After a few seconds of silence, with a worried voice, Lucien added. “How are you coping with your ex-husband?”I choked. My gaze went from the plate to Lucien. “He's working as a partner of the company. Of course, I'm there to do my job, which is precisely what I've been doing.”“Megan, if you can't cope with him around you, do not hesitate to tell me. I'll do anything and everything to buy the shares back from him and…” Lucien was determined, but I interrupted him softly. “You don't have to. Austin and I are divorced. Whatever we had was in the past. Now, we're just co-workers or partners in a business place. That
