MasukAUSTIN’S POV
Two days past, and the house was still cold and empty. I had always thought she would come back even before the day runs over. However, it’s been two days, and she hasn’t come running back to me as usual. Whenever I thought of her not coming back again, my heart skipped, but I kept telling myself that she wouldn’t be able to live without me. She has nothing to her name… she’s just an orphan omega. Where could she possibly go? I sat on the dinning table and Madam Adeline, the steward served the cuisines on the table. Picking up the cutlery, I started digging into the piping hot chicken breast and suddenly, I spat it out with absolute disgust. “What the…” I spat it into a serviette paper. “Why is the chicken so bland? Who made this and why does it taste this bad?” My eyes furrowed in anger. “I’m sorry, Alpha. It has always been Luna Megan who makes the chicken breast sauce.” Madam Adeline mumbled. but I was interrupted by the chatting and loud laughter coming from the entrance, so I quickly turned to the other side. Alice walked in with Kayla. As soon as Kayla saw me, she rushed to me and pecked my cheek and they settled down on the dining. “Oh, goodness. I’m starving.” Alice blurted out as she scooped the sauce with a cutlery and then her countenance changed. “Yuck! This is awful.” Alice retched. “Where’s Megan? Get her, let her make us a new batch.” Alice uttered with her arms folded and her eyes rolling. Madam Adeline, who had been standing at the other end with a juice pitcher in her hand, mumbled softly. “The Luna hasn’t been home for a few days now.” I don’t know why, but my heart ached instantly. Alice’s loud chuckle snapped me out of my thoughts. “Perfect. So Austin, when are you going to make Kayla your wife? I’ve been waiting for years for her to be my sister-in-law and your Luna.” “What are you talking about?” I furrowed my eyebrows at Alice. Her glance went frantically back and forth between Kayla, whose expression turned to a frown and I. “I mean… you two are perfect for each other. You should have been together ages ago. Besides, Megan already left you.” “Shut up.” I growled, banging my fist against the table to everyone’s dismay. “She cannot leave me. I won’t allow it.” Alice gulped hard. “Haven’t you always wanted her gone? She’s been nothing but a leech.” Anger engulfed me. With an extraordinary speed, I rushed over to Alice and grabbed her throat, she choked helplessly. “I said, keep quiet, Alice Sinclair. Megan can never leave me. She had always loved and worshiped the ground I walk on, how could she possibly sign divorce papers and say it’s over?” I roared, forcefully letting go of her, and she coughed loudly. Kayla’s eyes grew in astonishment. “Austin, I… I don’t think she’s gone. You know how she throws tantrums. I’m sure she will be back when she finally realizes that she cannot do without you.” Her words brought smile on my face. That’s right! Megan loves me too much. So much, that she would cry herself to sleep if I refuse to eat the food she made for me. No matter how late I stay at night, she would always wait for me to come home before going to bed despite how tired she would get after a long day of taking care of the Luna works. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, but there was no way to find Megan. It felt like she disappeared into the thin air with no trace of her. I searched and searched, but it felt like she never existed to begin with. I regretted letting her go. I became a shadow of myself, and I realized that Megan was more than just a housewife to me… she was my functioning partner. Six years later, I sat on the couch, holding the only picture of Megan that I had. It had turned into my most treasured possession. Then, I stared at the ring like I was looking at Megan. “Six years, not a trace. You think you can just disappear after killing my child? There’s only one place you could be.” I mumbled as I stared at the ring and the picture deeply, almost like they could hear me. The clicking sound of the doorknob made me hurriedly place the picture and ring into the drawer as fast as I could. My Beta, Blake walked in. “Alpha, you wanted to see me?” “We’re going to Dark Moon Pack’s gala tomorrow night.” I snapped to the astonishment of Blake. His eyes grew. “You mean the birthday party that Lucien is throwing for his future Luna? Lucien is our biggest rival, you never go to these events. Why?” “Lucien’s territory is the only place I haven’t searched for Megan in. This birthday party will be the only way I can have access to the Dark Moon Pack’s territory without hindrance. Could she be there?” I thought to myself, absentmindedly. “May I know why?” The familiar voice came from the entrance, and I anxiously jerked up from the chair as Aunt Elizabeth, my aunt walked in. She had always liked Megan and ever since she heard that Megan left, she never stopped blaming and reminding me of how I lost a good woman. “Because you spent the past six years pretending you don’t care and now, the Dark Moon Pack is the one and only place you’ve never looked.” She scoffed. I gulped hard. “Aunt, I…” “You what? Is it a secret that you’ve driven a way the best Luna the Crescent Pack has ever had? Look at the pack now…” She shook her head in total disgust. “Absolute chaos since Megan’s left.” I took a deep breath, and replied even if I didn’t believe my words. “Aunt, Kayla is running the day to day. She’s competent enough. Remember, she saved the pack and secured the millions of dollars contract with the Moon Royal Pack.” “Competent?” Aunt Elizabeth laughed. “She doesn’t even know to pick the perfect gift for Alpha Lucien’s future Luna. At lease, if you’re going to pretend to be attending a party, you should prepare a gift.” She added and snapped her fingers. Instantly, the maids walked in with the exquisite gift. The moment I looked at them, memories of Megan rushed into my head. The emerald necklace! Megan had once pleaded with me at an auction to get that for her. My fist clenched. Today is her birthday too… a birthday I never celebrated with her all through her stay with me.AUSTIN’S POVTwo days past, and the house was still cold and empty. MEGAN’S POVThe flashy cars drove into the Crescent Moon Pack, and the bodyguards got down from the first car and rushed over to the Bentley where I was seated and opened the car door. I got out of the car and stood in front of the house I once called home, staring at it now in disgust. This was once where I wished to come back to, but not anymore. I was about to enter the mansion when Austin stormed out of the house, and I halted. He rushed to me and held my wrist firmly. “Is it true? You’re pregnant?” His words brought cold shivers down my spine. Did he see the sonogram? Taking a deep breath, I questioned. “You already know?” I narrowed my eyes.“Is it my child?” He desperately inquired, and my eyes became cold instantly. “What do you mean? Whose child would it be if not yours? We were married; why would I carry another man’s child?” I glared hard at him.His mouth curved into a smug smile. “So I’m going to have an heir? For the sake of the baby, I’m willing to give you another
MEGAN’S POVThe Rolls-Royce drove into a massive mansion, and the driver rushed down to open the car while Nate helped me out of the car. The moment I stepped out of the car, I heaved a sigh of relief as I scanned around the compound with a faint smile on my face. “It feels good to be back home. I’m never leaving again.” I mumbled as Nate patted my shoulder. The servants and bodyguards stood by the door, and the minute I stepped closer to them, they bowed immediately. “Welcome home, Moon Heiress,” they chorused as I smiled a little. The entrance door swung open, and my father walked out of it. Tears clouded my eyes. I was filled with regret and sadness. I could remember clearly 4 years ago, standing on this same spot, I dragged my luggage out, refusing to listen to all pleas and warnings not to marry Alpha Austin. “My decision is final. I’m not going to Europe, and I would rather not take over the pack’s position as the Moon Heiress. All I want is to be Austin’s wife.” I lamented
MEGAN’S POVMy eyes watered as I sat at the dining table with two plates of piping hot bone soup on the table in front of me while I stared at the divorce papers placed on the table with tear-blurred eyes. My boxes were already packed and standing next to the seat where I sat. This was it. I’m fed up, and I’ve had enough of this humiliation. I gave Austin so many chances, but he threw them all away. Likewise, I shut my eyes tight, and tears rolled down my face. Taking a deep breath, I picked up the pen beside it and signed the papers without a second thought. Then, I heard the car honking and quickly wiped my tears. The door was swung open, and Alpha Austin walked in with Kayla wrapping her hand around his arm.Immediately I heard them giggling and chatting loudly, and I clenched my fist in utter disgust and fury. The moment they stepped in, Austin walked up to me with arched eyebrows. “What the hell, Megan? Where’s the soup I told you to prepare for Kay? Kayla is sick; can’t you be
MEGAN’S POVI slowly opened my weak eyes and saw that I was in the hospital. My head ached. How the hell did I get here? I remembered calling for help, but I don’t know if it went through. The door creaked open, drawing my attention to the entrance as the doctor walked in. “Luna Megan, you’re lucky. A man and a maid had you rushed to the hospital just in time.”“My baby…” I gasped, placing my hand on my stomach with tears pricking my eyes. Then, a voice snapped in. “The baby is safe, Meg.” My eyes grew in excitement. Of course, I can never forget that voice. He walked in with plastic bags filled with fruits and freshly made juice. “Nate?” I called out with a wide smile. He dropped the plastic bags and rushed to embrace me. In his arms, I burst into tears. “Luna Megan, your child is safe, and I hope this is the last time something like this happens. You need to rest because you lost a lot of blood.” The doctor continued before leaving while I nodded slowly. Disengaging the hug, N
MEGAN’S POVThat night felt like a year. All I did was lie on my back, staring at the ceiling blankly. I waited and hoped that Austin would come back to bed, but he didn’t. Instead, my phone chimed, and I quickly picked it up. A video message popped up on my phone, and I quickly opened it. “Hey, Luna. Look, Austin is sleeping so peacefully wrapped in my arms. Don’t mind so much; we’ve always been like this. He just can’t sleep well without being in my arms like a baby.” Kayla’s annoying laughter brought hot tears brimming in my eyes. The sight of my ‘dear’ husband fast asleep in her arms made my heart ache. He left me in the cold and went to sleep in her arms. I’m his Luna, his mate, but he would throw me out without a second thought once it has to do with Kayla. I quickly shut the phone and dropped it on the table, sniffing hard as tears rolled down my cheeks. Another message popped up on my phone; this time it was just a picture. Kayla was dressed in a bikini, kissing Austin’s c
